COVID - should I cancel Holliday?

Hi, unfortunately both my DS and I got positive PCRs last week.
To cut a long story short, does anyone know how long after you’ve had symptoms / positive PCR test, will either a LF or PCR test continue to show positive?
I ask, as both our isolation periods end this Friday 15th Oct but we are due to fly on holiday on the 23rd Oct and whilst I am double jabbed so I won’t need a PCR before I fly, my DS isn’t as he is 16 (he had the jab booked for the day he got a positive!).
Do you think a PCR is still likely to show positive then? Trying to work out whether to cancel holiday or not? Thanks

The actual pdf of the form says "you must not travel if close contact if confirmed case within 14 days of travel". I can't see it mentions diagnosis

I have also contacted the canaries tourist board ( who are the official contact for their travel rules) who have confirmed that, in effect, that means that if a household member tests positive in the 10 before travel that counts as close contact

We are either cancelling or rearranging

It's crap, and it doesn't mean I agree with their requirements, but it is what it is

Also there is the reasonable risk ( c 20/25%) that my DD would test positive on her PCR again, and I really can't in fairness make her self isolate again if this happens

It's so open to interpretation. Just managed to change ours to Easter. Have to say as soon as I got off the phone I felt like a weight had been lifted. The last few days have been so stressful

Will do pcrs on us again next week and if still negative looks like its a week in a caravan for us Smile

@sleepwouldbenice do you have a contact for canaries tourist board please?
I think I’d like to email them too. DS had positive PCR 16 days before travel. Rest of us negative so far.

Hi there

Yes sure. We are with Jet2. On their covid 19 advice for canaries it linked to here

www.hellocanaryislands.com/travelling-to-the-canary-islands/

And then I messaged them on Facebook from there. Bit erratic and slow at first but did respond

Hi @angrynellie , we are the same, would love to hear if you get a response please, if your happy to share of course 😊

So how is everyone getting on?
DS is having his PCR tomorrow after having Covid on 8th Oct (16 days before travel so outside of insurance at that point) and we’re 90% sure it will return positive ☹️.
