This post will hopefully give everyone hope that covid can be beaten even if it becomes serious. Please don't let this scare you. The medical team have a much better understanding of how to treat severe covid and very few people are dying of it now, even people with underlying health conditions. The NHS are amazing and know exactly how to treat covid and anything else you may have.
A time line which may be helpful
My second jab was 11th June.
On 3rd August I had a mild cold,
On 4th August I didn't feel quite right so did a LFT - immediate positive. Ordered PCR
5th August PCR arrived
6th August PCR positive
I became increasingly unwell, lost smell and taste, being sick, temperature of 39.3 was the highest recorded, wasn't eating or drinking. Eventually I couldn't get off the sofa to even put something in the microwave for my son (bless him, he had a bowl of cereal for dinner☹️).
10th August I felt so rotten, my son called 111 and the ambulance came. My oxygen level was very low. I was put on a CPAP machine and given various drugs. The Dr said that the days between 7 - 10 are generally when covid either gets better or gets worse. Sadly for me it got worse. Covid attacked my lungs and I had pneumonia.
I narrowly avoided ICU, I was never unconscious so I knew exactly what was going on. It was a very scary time BUT I came out of hospital 20th August.
No one knows how covid will affect them and most people don't need to be hospitalised.
Please be encouraged that even tho it was touch and go for a while, the amazing medical team helped me recover.
I hope no one goes through what I did but I'm still here to tell the tale.
Listen to your body and is you become very unwell, call for help
Wishing everyone well x
