My dad is in intensive care

I am so frightened. I need some positive stories.

My dad has some fairly serious health issues but does not sit at peace, he’s a workaholic. He was one of the first to be double vaccinated.

He’s now in a critical condition and is on a ventilator. The doctors are taking it hour by hour. I’m just so numb. I’m not ready to lose him, he’s my world.

Well I spoke too soon, he’s now back to square one and now my mum has been admitted with covid. It’s a never ending nightmare 😢

I'm so sorry, thinking positive thoughts for your dad, and your mum too. They know so much more now about treating covid so its more hopeful than in the beginning of the pandemic, my dad had it then and it was scary when he was in intensive care so I know the feeling. Ask the nurses when is the best time to call for updates on his condition so you can keep informed without feeling like you are interrupting them.

Sorry to hear this, I can't even imagine how upsetting and stressful all this is for you. I hope your mum and dad make a speedy recovery. Sending hugs, take care. x

Hi op, this website may be of some help to you, sorry I don't know how to link but it's called ICU Steps, its run by former patients and medical staff and offers support to families and the patients when they eventually recover. There is also a forum where you can speak to others in the same situation. I really hope your parents recover safely

My dads deteriorating again. My mums not too bad. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy, I feel like I’m living in limbo

So sorry, OP. Hope that your dad turns a corner soon. Glad that your mum is doing OK. Take care of yourself, it's a lot to deal with having both of your parents ill at t once.
