Vaccine

I know this is old news to almost everyone, but I have severe health anxiety and have been putting off getting my vaccine (I know, risk of covid vs risk vaccine but I'm not rational sometimes)

Anyway, I want Pfizer as the wait for 4 weeks to make sure I didn't have a clot would be too much for me. With Pfizer I feel I will be anxious on the day and possibly if I get side effects but it'll be over quicker and I'll be more protected.

So, I'm going to a drop in clinic on Wednesday Smile

Wish me luck.

Oh - 43, no real health issues (well, plenty in my head) white, female.

But until now I had been fine. Thought it was too good to be true that I would escape unscathed. Not sure if I should seek advice from a HCP or wait and see how it goes.

FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 10:16

@Pinkpowderpuff maybe speak to a medical professional if it’s worrying you?

I’m having a wobble today thinking that I’m not protected enough for when schools open

Pinkpowderpuff · 30/08/2021 10:22

I'm hoping to get to 3 weeks post jab before I catch it then I'll feel protected enough against hospitalisation and death to not be worried too much about it. In fact, if I catch it before the second jab I won't be getting it as that'll be all the booster I need.

FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 10:35

@Pinkpowderpuff technically I’m in the 3rd week - day 19 - day 21 is the peak for dose 1 as I understand but does it drop off after that?

The UK are not following the Pfizer guidelines of 21 days are they?

Cookerhood · 30/08/2021 11:06

Pfizer is licenced for 21 days between jobs as that is what the clinical trials were (so that they could be done quickly). You get better protection waiting at least 8 weeks.

FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 11:13

@Cookerhood yes I understand- I’m not trying to bring it forward but I’m having a panic with everything open that I’m not protected enough…that I’ll still end up in the hospital

FeelingJittery1 · 31/08/2021 07:53

@Pinkpowderpuff hope the pins and needles are gone/better?

Pinkpowderpuff · 31/08/2021 07:57

@FeelingJittery1 No, not gone but not any worse. Still just doing 'watchful waiting' if still got them tomorrow then I'll call the GP I think, just for some reassurance! How are you?

FeelingJittery1 · 31/08/2021 10:42

@Pinkpowderpuff yes that sounds good- speaking to a doctor if you need to

I’m taking a day at a time- I’m due to start my period soon so have lots of aches etc

FeelingJittery1 · 31/08/2021 10:54

@Pinkpowderpuff I also had a major wobble yesterday about how protected am I with 1 dose etc…trying not to think too much today

Pinkpowderpuff · 31/08/2021 19:26

@FeelingJittery1 I started my period today - it definitely doesn't help things when hormones are involved! I always find my anxiety is worse a few days before I start. I've been at work today so too busy to think/worry about things.

The way I see it is that we are better protected now with one dose than we were and our risk of developing severe covid is already much lower so try not to think the worst. It'll all be ok.

Hi. I was the same as you. I’m 35, no health conditions, fit and healthy but I had put off getting my vaccine because I also suffer with health anxiety and was very sceptical.anyway, to cut a long story short, I had my first dose of Moderna on the 20th august, and then tested positive for covid on the 24th. My husband and children were all positive too. I had no symptoms for the first two days, but then it hit me like a bus!!! I’m still in bed now and have pretty much been in bed for the the last 4 days. I now really regret putting off having the vaccine. My husband is double jabbed, he also has an underlying health condition and a weaker immune system and he has been absolutely fine. No covid symptoms, despite testing positive. I completely understand where your coming from, but from first hand experience, I’d say go for it. Xx

FeelingJittery1 · 02/09/2021 09:36

@Cazzabbb hope you are feeling better than yesterday?

Cazzabbb · 02/09/2021 10:31

@FeelingJittery1 I’m feeling pretty much the same, but no worse thankfully. It’s just a case of waiting for the virus to pass through I guess. X

FeelingJittery1 · 04/09/2021 11:46

@Cazzabbb how are you feeling?
