Vaccine

I know this is old news to almost everyone, but I have severe health anxiety and have been putting off getting my vaccine (I know, risk of covid vs risk vaccine but I'm not rational sometimes)

Anyway, I want Pfizer as the wait for 4 weeks to make sure I didn't have a clot would be too much for me. With Pfizer I feel I will be anxious on the day and possibly if I get side effects but it'll be over quicker and I'll be more protected.

So, I'm going to a drop in clinic on Wednesday Smile

Wish me luck.

Oh - 43, no real health issues (well, plenty in my head) white, female.

@pfizerfizzer great to hear you are doing well

FeelingJittery1 · 26/08/2021 09:55

@Pinkpowderpuff good luck with yours..

pfizerfizzer · 26/08/2021 15:01

@Pinkpowderpuff how did you get on?

OP posts:
Pinkpowderpuff · 26/08/2021 16:46

@pfizerfizzer I only bloody went and had it done!!
I'm quite proud of myself actually. I was pretty much weeping the while time I was there and they were very kind and patient with me. I said to them I didn't think I could go through with it but then in the next breath told them to just do it. They didn't need telling twice! Now to try and put it from mind for the next few days.......

pfizerfizzer · 26/08/2021 16:52

Amazing news! @Pinkpowderpuff

Well done - I was exactly the same (made a right show of myself I'm sure GrinBlush) but they must see it at least once a day.

Brilliant news. I was a bit anxious for a few hours after but some of that was nervous energy from the build up. Try to distract with a walk in the sunshine or whatever works for you.

Such good news

Pinkpowderpuff · 26/08/2021 16:54

I'm sat having a cuppa in the sunshine. I only had it an hour ago but my arm is stinging quite a lot still. It also seemed to bleed a lot after, not sure if that's normal.....

FeelingJittery1 · 26/08/2021 17:02

@Pinkpowderpuff glad to hear that you did it

Don’t worry about crying - I was a right mess but they didn’t bat an eye lid - I actually told her that I’m not usually scared of vaccines and she actually did agree that the constant press surrounding this doesn’t help - so they do understand

pfizerfizzer · 26/08/2021 17:18

@Pinkpowderpuff my hand went numb for about 5 mins and the nurse said that was normal. Mine also bled a little (only a few drops) but they told me it was quite normal to bleed more - it just depends on the individual.

You did it!!

@Pinkpowderpuff how you doing?

@FeelingJittery1 are you feeling better now?

OP posts:
FeelingJittery1 · 26/08/2021 21:11

@pfizerfizzer I’m ok- 15 days in. I’m not reading anything about vaccines- else I’ll go bonkers. Im trying my best to distract. Do you have school age children? Im nervous with school starting soon and no safety measure I’ll catch it pretty soon-

How are you feeling? I recall feeling slightly lethargic the next day

@Pinkpowderpuff how are you feeling?

Pinkpowderpuff · 26/08/2021 21:12

I'm doing fine thanks, arm is quite sore and had a few waves of nausea but all good otherwise. I'm not sure on the time frame of side effects e.g when would I expect them to start and how long would they last?

How are you feeling?

Pinkpowderpuff · 26/08/2021 21:16

@FeelingJittery1 at least you have some protection for when school starts so highly unlikely to get it badly. School starting back was my main reason for getting it - I have one in primary and one in secondary so ticking time bomb really! Just seeing what's happening in Scotland makes me think I've made a wise decision.

pfizerfizzer · 26/08/2021 21:20

I'm ok but a bit more tired than usual so I'm off to bed to watch some tv - feel ok though.

I do have secondary school aged children and it's a worry for me too, but one dose reduces chances of catching by a third and reduces chances of hospitalisation by 3/4. So we've done the right thing and we just need to be careful this first term

OP posts:
pfizerfizzer · 26/08/2021 21:21

@Pinkpowderpuff I read that they tend to start 6-24 hours after jab and last 24-36 hours. But mine have just been slightly more tired than usual and a sore arm (that's getting better )

OP posts:
FeelingJittery1 · 26/08/2021 21:25

@pfizerfizzer @Pinkpowderpuff mine is in primary - so definite chance of catching something and bringing it back home…

I have switched off from the news etc but I can guess that with schools going back the Scottish cases are rising?

You would have thought the government would have thought through this and kept the isolation rules for high traffic areas like schools in place ..,,

FeelingJittery1 · 26/08/2021 21:27

I’m assuming you both got Pfizer as well?

Pinkpowderpuff · 26/08/2021 21:32

Yes, cases rising steeply in Scotland. I really think they should have kept the isolation for kids in houses with positive cases. The child sitting next to ours in school could have a sibling at home with Covid - there is no way they wouldn't be incubating it too. To send them off to school anyway is a stupid idea and if one of my DC ends up with Covid I certainly won't be sending the other one in to spread it around.

Yes, I got Pfizer. Too young for AZ.

FeelingJittery1 · 26/08/2021 21:39

@Pinkpowderpuff exactly- how is one child positive and just because someone else in the same household is not positive at the same time is considered ‘safe’ for the other to mingle…
I had chicken pox for the first time when I was 35- my daughter came out three days and I followed three days later- I was a carrier for those three days!
I declared this in my work place and sat in an empty office so I don’t infect someone who is pregnant/ etc…you would think it’s common sense!

FeelingJittery1 · 27/08/2021 10:01

@Pinkpowderpuff
@pfizerfizzer

Hope you both are feeling ok?

Pinkpowderpuff · 27/08/2021 10:33

@FeelingJittery1 I'm alright thanks. Very sore arm and didn't really sleep last night, feeling a bit sick but just had some breakfast so can't be that bad! All fine otherwise. Thanks for asking.

FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 09:55

Hope you both are ok?

FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 09:55

@Pinkpowderpuff
@pfizerfizzer

pfizerfizzer · 30/08/2021 09:59

Hi @FeelingJittery1 I've had a headache and face pain (like sinuses but with no catarrh) for a few days so I'm getting slightly worried about that. It's not very severe and it does feel like dry sinuses but you know! I've been doing nasal washes but it's not getting better

How are you?

OP posts:
FeelingJittery1 · 30/08/2021 10:02

@pfizerfizzer some general aches and pains - I’m trying not to focus too much as would freak out

Pinkpowderpuff · 30/08/2021 10:05

I've woken up with pins and needles/tingling in the hand on the side where I got the jab. Trying not to panic.....
