Vaccine

I know this is old news to almost everyone, but I have severe health anxiety and have been putting off getting my vaccine (I know, risk of covid vs risk vaccine but I'm not rational sometimes)

Anyway, I want Pfizer as the wait for 4 weeks to make sure I didn't have a clot would be too much for me. With Pfizer I feel I will be anxious on the day and possibly if I get side effects but it'll be over quicker and I'll be more protected.

So, I'm going to a drop in clinic on Wednesday Smile

Wish me luck.

Oh - 43, no real health issues (well, plenty in my head) white, female.

I’m definitely sure as we were both waiting for the question.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 24/08/2021 10:42

Well done and good luck 👍🏻 I've currently got covid after having both jabs. However, I can comfortably say I have had worse colds and by far the worse thing has been having to isolate with a three year old, teething baby and miserable OH.

pfizerfizzer · 24/08/2021 13:19

Thank you everyone, it does make a difference to hear the positive.

It's quite annoying for me as I'd been doing so well with my anxiety but covid set it all off and then I heard the negative news about vaccine side effects so froze in panic and avoidance

I then had to get my head round which one to go for based on the side effects and I think it's sensible for me to go for Pfizer or I know I'll worry for weeks about clots Blush

Having said that, I am panicking today about getting an allergic reaction to Pfizer so it's tough!!!

@pfizerfizzer I didn’t want to respond as I’m trying to limit my exposure to social media due to my own anxieties but I couldn’t ignore your post either as you are me, on this matter

I’m 40 and was nervous about the vaccines but set my mind to get AZ - that week the news if the clots broke and and I had a major wobble which I couldn’t get myself out of. I kept going in circles. I went to the walk in centre twice and couldn’t do it…it all got so messy.

But couple of weeks ago we tried again- this time I did it- I cried a lot and was shaking but I didn’t run out. I had to sit longer in the waiting area due to my family history of allergies etc but I didn’t have a reaction

I’m 14 days in now- it was Pfizer

I still am anxious about Covid- I’m not double jabbed etc

But I’ve taken this step..

Hope this helps you

Yep my 16yo done yesterday, bit tired today but tbf that’s nothing out of the ordinary! Very proud of my brave girl, she is terrified of needles.

pfizerfizzer · 25/08/2021 08:38

Fretting a bit this morning. Worried about having a bad reaction, worried about if this is the right thing to do Confused

Friend of mine (double Vaxxed) is currently unwell in bed - sounds awful for her. Most of me thinks this is why I need to get it but done if me thinks 'well it's not going to stop the inevitable'...

Gah!

OP posts:
SavoyCabbage · 25/08/2021 08:44

There is no reason to think you will have a bad reaction. Why you? Thousands of people have had the vaccine and have had no reaction at all.

Keep busy for the next few days if you do decide to have it.

Thank goodness your friend is double vaccinated or she could have been severely ill right now instead of just unwell.

pfizerfizzer · 25/08/2021 10:44

I'm sat in the waiting area after having the jab. They were lovely to me as I was (and still am) in a state.

Hypersensitive to everything at the moment but I can't believe I've done it.

Thanks for all the support. I'll keep posting here as a way to support me and distract myself

Elderly DM had Pfizer early this year, only side effect with both jabs were a few aches and pains the next day.

DS(16) had his a few days ago, only side effect so far is aching arm

toomuchlaundry · 25/08/2021 10:50

Well done, by the way

FeelingJittery1 · 25/08/2021 10:53

That’s great to hear

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/08/2021 12:01

Well done Star

pfizerfizzer · 25/08/2021 12:17

Thanks all. I still feel a bit anxious but I've managed to eat a little bit of food (which I haven't done for a few days!!) and I'm having a cup of tea.

Need to distract myself from symptom spotting Grin

FeelingJittery1 · 25/08/2021 12:25

@pfizerfizzer I went for walk- it really helped with the distraction- while walking I wasn’t even concentrating on the pain in my arm where the injection went it.

FeelingJittery1 · 25/08/2021 12:27

And take some water with you- just sipping that helped as well..

pfizerfizzer · 25/08/2021 12:31

Thanks @FeelingJittery1 I know you understand. It's so difficult isn't it

Well done! That's brilliant! Star

FeelingJittery1 · 25/08/2021 20:55

@pfizerfizzer

Thanks *@FeelingJittery1* I know you understand. It's so difficult isn't it
It is very difficult- hope you are still feeling ok?
pfizerfizzer · 25/08/2021 21:35

@FeelingJittery1 yes I am. I had a bad headache for a few hours and my arm is sore but now I'm just tired with a bit of a headache so I'm going to read in bed and hopefully I'll be fine in the morning.

The nurse at the vaccine centre spent ages talking to me before the jab, and checked on me a few times while I waited after. She was lovely

FeelingJittery1 · 25/08/2021 21:47

@pfizerfizzer yes they are very understanding- it’s great to hear that you are doing well.

I kept drinking water not sure if being hydrated helps but it was ‘something’ to do..

MMAMPWGHAP · 25/08/2021 21:52

For anyone reading this who is not jabbed please do eat before going in. It’s a common theme amongst those who feel faint that they haven’t eaten. So much so that the centre I’ve volunteered at has a stash of biscuits to hand out beforehand.

SalsaLove · 25/08/2021 21:56

Just sending support to those who are feeling anxious about the vaccine. I have been double jabbed but that second jab gave me a wobble. I did it anyway because I trust the available science and I’m fatalistic. It was an emotional moment, both times. Looking back, I’m so glad I did it. Best of luck 💐

Pinkpowderpuff · 26/08/2021 08:03

@pfizerfizzer How are you feeling today? I'm so glad that you stood firm and managed to get it. I'm hoping to do the same today. Has it affected your tinnitus at all?

pfizerfizzer · 26/08/2021 08:07

Hi @Pinkpowderpuff, I've got a slight headache but not much - like an end of day tired headache that I won't even take paracetamol for and my arm is slightly sore (but only noticeable if I lie on it etc)

My tinnitus is as normal, definitely no change Smile

Good luck today - let me know how you get on and post here for support if you need it x
