Test & trace - contact from flight

Miseryl · 10/08/2021 14:05

DP & I returned from 7 days in Majorca on 7th Aug, with our two children. We filled in details for everyone on the passenger locator form.

Yesterday DP & I received emails & texts from Test & Trace (nothing to do with the app) telling us that we are contacts of a positive case and legally we have to isolate until 17th Aug.

We can only think this is from the flight home and were fully expecting to be contacted about the children too - we were all sat on the flight together but so far there has been nothing.

DP & I completed online questionnaires and there were no questions about the children. Our tests and emails very clearly state only our names, no mention of anyone.

Has anyone else come across a situation like this? We have all had to isolate before and I was contacted on behalf of both the DC. As it stands legally, the kids are free to come & go.

@RosemaryRosemary thanks for sharing these links, I think a lot of people think they still have to finish the 10 days if they are notified before the 16th but this makes it very clear that this is not the case.

Miseryl · 11/08/2021 21:40

Thanks for the links. My employer (civil service) is taking the same line as T & T.

I know many people who have blocked the T&T number; none of them had an in-person visit.

Good to know - thank you

Bullshit with the fines

not a single fine has stood up in court
If you can prove do post link

Fines have to be given were its evidenced risk is proportionate

Everyone i have read who has gone to court has had fine over turned - its scaremongering bullshit

Watapalava · 11/08/2021 22:55

Up to feb 2021 only 196 £10,000 fines had been given and only 5 paid!!!

Most people contest and win as it has to be proportionate
Vaccinated people testing regularly can easily test its not proportionate

Whilst this might be the case I’d rather avoid the case and so of going to court just for the sake of 4 days that have been personally asked to self isolate
atracurious · 11/08/2021 23:26

Also for those saying they don't need to isolate a family friend had a similar thing after flying back from Mallorca recently, didn't isolate and got fined £10k when T&T visited their address and they weren't in, with no valid reason as to why they'd be out. Don't risk it

Watapalava · 11/08/2021 23:57

yes but that fine will never stand

That’s the issue

Almost all fines have been over turned

RosemaryRosemary · 12/08/2021 05:47

Article in the Guardian today:
www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/11/no-need-for-fully-jabbed-covid-contacts-to-isolate-from-monday-confirms-javid?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

“And anyone who was told before 16 August to go into isolation, with their isolation period due to end after 16 August, will instead be able to leave isolation from Monday.”

Oblomov21 · 12/08/2021 07:01

What T&T lady told OP was incorrect. Legislation clearly states you don't need to isolate after Monday 16th.

Makes me cross when officials don't know the rules!

LemonCake79 · 12/08/2021 07:29

It's worrying @Oblomov21, there have been a number of posters on here given incorrect information about ongoing isolation from 16th. With all the money that T&T cost you'd think they'd at least be able to train their staff to a basic standard.

Budster · 12/08/2021 08:36

We are double jabbed, negative PCR tests on return, couple of hours later received text message, ignored but then got urgent email demanding that we register and isolate. We were hoping that we would be able to resume "normal" life in 16th but apparently he new rules don't apply to travel, they remain the same?

Where have you seen that they don't apply to travel?

I know the legislation has been posted, but this is a bit easier to understand. It confirms the legislation that anyone whose isolation began before 16th Aug can stop isolating then

First an article in the Daily Mail this morning said that "quarantine requirememts for travellers returning from abroad will remain the same" but surprise, surprise! T&T just rang checking that I was isolating and they said the new rules don't apply with regards to travel!! I can't see anything on the Government website to say this so think I'll be out of isolation on 16th too.

Does anyone know what to do if you KNOW that your details were provided to Test and Trace in error?
My husband double vacci ated saw a colleague on Monday (for 5 mins outside going into a building his colleague was leaving) who then tested positive on Wednesday. He's had the email today and hasn't been anywhere since work on Monday.

So our holiday starting Sunday is now cancelled. But should it be?
