Is Spain accepting Recovery Certificates? Mixed info online

As the title says, i am finding mixed information about whether Spain is accepting recovery certificates for entry.

DD (16) has a flight booked to stay with family who live in the balearics on the 16th August. She showed symptoms on Wed 21 July and got a pos PCR on the following Monday 26th (first time we could get a PCR). She was actually fine by the time she tested and is getting daily neg LF tests. However, I am aware that you can get a positive PCR for several weeks following infection.

We are confused by the conflicting information online. Some saying you can use a Recovery Certificate as proof you are no longer infectious (despite testing positive) and others saying Spain are not accepting them.

All being well, her PCR will be negative. But we need to understand the backup plan and we don't!! BA just direct us to website that conflict with each other.

Does anyone have a categorical answer? We'd really appreciate clarity.

I don’t think so, says U.K. exempted (maybe due to Brexit?).

Darbs76 · 05/08/2021 17:57

So yes they do accept them, but not from
U.K. residents

Summer20twentyone · 06/08/2021 07:47

Latest understanding!

Spain accepts a recovery certificate from EU countries, this is the EU digital Covid pass.

It doesn't accept the NHS Covid pass with the recovery QR code.

I'm living in hope that this may change in the next week or so (... and DS recovers quickly ... and that we don't catch it ... and I don't have some sort of breakdown in the meantime!!!!) 😂

Summer20twentyone · 06/08/2021 07:48

.... which means that we've probably lucked out due to Brexit!!

Following as same situation here returning from Greece.

As above our government are advising LFT for returning to uk (as PCR more sensitive and likely to pick up historic result). NHS advice is don’t PCR test for 90 days after a positive result.

And yet we still seem to be expected to do day 2 PCR????? NHS covid pass seems to include your proof of having the virus, but we can’t use as exemption from returning self isolation?

Are you in Greece at the moment? How did you get over there? I'm assuming you were 'double jabbed' so didn't have to do the pre travel PCR?

How long post Covid are you? You may test negative now if it's a few weeks later .. have you tried an LFT to see what that throws up?

Summer20twentyone · 06/08/2021 09:20

Jet2 are quite explicit that you can't use a Covid recovery certificate 😢

So Spain not accepting recovery certificate from UK is fairly clear now.

Crap, but clear.

So assuming (big leap) a negative PCR to travel out there, a neg lat flow to come home, is that it?

I am confused about the PCR test two days after arrival home if you already have a UK NHS 'pass' based on recovery.

@SlightlyJaded I would take my chances with the day 2 post holiday PCR as you could argue the toss over here if necessary. The issue would be that you need to book it before you go as you need the code for you traveller form.

Summer20twentyone · 06/08/2021 11:53

I've given up, it's too stressful. I've just lodged a claim with our travel insurance 😰😰

CommanderBurnham · 06/08/2021 11:55

Can she not get a first dose of the vaccine?

SlightlyJaded · 06/08/2021 12:25

@CommanderBurnham

Can she not get a first dose of the vaccine?
She would need to be 14 days clear of second dose before she leaves. Not possible to achieve

It seems that you are right and there's no exemption for recent recovery. Which would in effect mean that if your day 2 PCR was positive the whole plane that you were on would need to isolate as a result.
IsabellesMissingSock · 06/08/2021 12:42

Altho maybe following 16 August the whole plane wouldn't have to isolate, actually? Not sure 🙈

Bayleaf25 · 06/08/2021 14:22

@Summer20twentyone
We are double jabbed but 18yo DS only single jabbed and he’s the one who’s had COVID less than 30 days ago. We fly to Greece on 13th. All his (and our) lateral flows have been negative. I suspect he may have had the virus ages ago but asymptomatic?

@IsabellesMissingSock don’t think whole plane would have to isolate as after the 16th but proves how non joined up the guidance is as he is allowed to fly to Greece and home with just negative antigen/lateral flow. The only PCR is day 2.

Yes it's very unclear. I wonder if anyone not double jabbed on the plane back would have to isolate as a result of a positive PCR from someone on that plane?

Chardonnay73 · 06/08/2021 14:47

Oohhhh @Summer20twentyone, that’s gutting. I understand, I really do. Just so cross at the shitstorm that these rules are, no one seems to have thought things through 😡
I hope after the disappointment you will feel a tiny bit of relief. Holidays are meant to be exciting! Not one stress after another 🙁

Chardonnay73 · 06/08/2021 14:48

We were due to be flying to Crete on 13th. Feel free to join me in my pity party that day? 😜

ImSoMagical · 06/08/2021 14:59

I tested positive 17th July, double jabbed. I flew to Spain yesterday showing vaccination certificate. All good. Didn't ask for recovery certificate.

The recovery certificate is for people who can't demonstrate full vaccination though isn't it? So that's why you weren't asked for it.
ImSoMagical · 06/08/2021 15:09

Ah OK.

It will be if you test positive on your pre return test that's the issue (should be okay as long as you do a lateral flow) , or the day 2 PCR.
