Is Spain accepting Recovery Certificates? Mixed info online

As the title says, i am finding mixed information about whether Spain is accepting recovery certificates for entry.

DD (16) has a flight booked to stay with family who live in the balearics on the 16th August. She showed symptoms on Wed 21 July and got a pos PCR on the following Monday 26th (first time we could get a PCR). She was actually fine by the time she tested and is getting daily neg LF tests. However, I am aware that you can get a positive PCR for several weeks following infection.

We are confused by the conflicting information online. Some saying you can use a Recovery Certificate as proof you are no longer infectious (despite testing positive) and others saying Spain are not accepting them.

All being well, her PCR will be negative. But we need to understand the backup plan and we don't!! BA just direct us to website that conflict with each other.

Does anyone have a categorical answer? We'd really appreciate clarity.

afaik no
it's recovery + single vaccine or double vax or test prior entry.

EasterIssland · 05/08/2021 00:20

I believe they do but might have to be more days as 26juky was only last week. Think it’s over 2 weeks when you can use it

This is what it says the options are
The certificate proving recovery must state the date of the first positive test, and indicate that the passenger has passed the disease and is not currently infectious-contagious, and the country where the certificate was issued.

That link states '11 days after the day of the positive test' that should leave her to fly from Saturday 7th (by my estimation)

I'm in the same position, Teen DS tested positive this morning - we fly to Mallorca on the 17th, we're hoping that we will make it as long as none of us catch it in the run up!

I think I've read it correctly!

It’d be good to know whether today it counts as 0 or 1 and whether you’re allowed to enter on day 11 or has to be on 12.

I'm classing today (the day he received a positive result) as day 0 .. then they really can't 'quibble'

I'm hanging on to a shred of hope but surely one of us will catch it between now and then!

Even if they did accept it, and I’m not sure if they do, it’s the travel back to the U.K. that’s the issue. You have to have a negative LFT and then the day 2 PCR may be positive, and the whole isolation thing kicks in again and may possibly implicate people who were in close contact on the flight home. Same situation as my ds1, we had to cancel the holiday 🙁

I’d get a private pcr done Before flying out in their place

I think the 'recovery' certificate makes any testing unnecessary for 180 days. I've got the next 10 days to research it all - it's on a par with research for my dissertation 😆

SlightlyJaded · 05/08/2021 10:33

OK, still a bit confused but most of you are saying that they will look at a recovery cert but the window between testing postive and flying is up for debate.

Can we keep updating this thread with facts as we learn them? @Summer20twentyone please share your 'traveling to Spain' dissertation when you're done.

@Summer20twentyone, I’d be really interested to see what you find as everything I found, on .gov and speaking to the airline said that while some countries are saying you can use proof of Covid recovery to enter, it’s not recognised by the U.K. and it’s got to be a negative LFT to fly home again. It’s a huge disparity and on other travel threads on here people have been lobbying their MPs for clarification as it’s a massive loophole that the government don’t seem to have allowed for. I work for the NHS and we don’t have to test for 90 days after a positive test, but it’s the government who decides the entry requirements to the U.K. and as I said, there was nothing on .gov to say that proof of recovery excludes you from testing to fly back to the U.K.
It may have changed since I was looking into it a couple of weeks ago though 🤷‍♀️

Summer20twentyone · 05/08/2021 10:37

I've just WhatsApped the surgery in Ibiza where we have our return LFTs booked ... I'll let you know the verdict 👍🏻

Chardonnay73 · 05/08/2021 10:46

That’s on the .gov page today about arrivals from the U.K. to Spain, which seems to contradict the Spanish page! 🤦‍♀️🤔🤷‍♀️

But this is now what they are saying regarding testing to return homeif you have had Covid… so they are encouraging you to take an LFT rather than PCR as this will more likely be negative.
All so confusing 🤦‍♀️

It's a nightmare isn't it! Going on holiday is supposed to be fun ... this is just stressful 🤯🤯

Chardonnay73 · 05/08/2021 10:54

I’m a bit invested in this for you! Hope you can sort it.

Summer20twentyone · 05/08/2021 10:54

His LFT was negative yesterday (then a positive PCRater in the day) ... you never know which way an LFT will swing!

Summer20twentyone · 05/08/2021 10:55

Im loving you sharing my drama @Chardonnay73 .. stay invested! Every little nugget of info helps 👍🏻

Chardonnay73 · 05/08/2021 10:59

🤣 to be honest I just couldn’t be doing with the stress of it. Plus I’d worried myself silly about what happens if one of us tests positive on the LFT before flying home and would have to quarantine abroad. Nightmare. So although absolutely gutted at cancelling, I knew in my heart that it was the right decision for us and the stress just disappeared. To be replaced by bitter disappointment 🤣

Chardonnay73 · 05/08/2021 11:02

Oh, and the other thing I read was to take the return LFT out with you from the U.K., the coop pharmacy does one where you do the test, upload a photo the result ( seems open to fraud to me but hey ho) and they email the certificates. Reason being that different countries have different sensitivities for their LFTs so a negative on a U.K. one may not necessarily mean a negative on. Spanish one IFYWIM?

IsabellesMissingSock · 05/08/2021 11:31

The FCDO website says that certificates of recovery are not currently accepted for people arriving from the U.K. :(

flippyfloppy · 05/08/2021 11:46

I've been researching this like mad too! We are supposed to fly Sunday to Ibiza . I'm single jabbed and daughter 13 with no jabs. We were positive on July 21st, (which caused me to miss second jab!) Our government website unfortunately states that Spain are not accepting UK recovery certificate, (but are for EU countries.) Our PCR's are this afternoon... I'll keep you posted. I'm so scared!!!

Summer20twentyone · 05/08/2021 13:55

Aww @flippyfloppy ... I'll keep my fingers firmly crossed for you! Whereabouts in Ibiza are you going?

Summer20twentyone · 05/08/2021 13:57

@Chardonnay73

"I knew in my heart that it was the right decision for us and the stress just disappeared. To be replaced by bitter disappointment" 🤣

I feel every single bit of that sentiment and am bracing myself!

You're right I've had a look, see the screenshot in yellow.

There is a link in that paragraph which then takes you through to the Spanish traveller form site (ringed in red) which says the opposite that a recovery cert is valid!! Ffs!
