Funny how the OP hasn't come back.

@Motorina it's highly unlikely they do
I think the public think systems are far more integrated than they actually are, generally

The self isolation period is also completely different by country, is Germany is 5 days. So no I don't think it's stupidity questioning why 10 says when has 2 vaccinations and if a negative test after a set period why isolate for 10 days

@1983mum - it's the law.

PennyRoyal · 04/08/2021 15:34

When does his isolation period end? If it's after your departure date, can you rearrange? You still run the risk of various laws of Greece and wherever you are in the UK. Personally, I'd rearrange the trip for 2022.

MaggieFS · 04/08/2021 15:35

Apologies OP.

You're not wrong to question the logic when the situation does change on the 16th, but as it stands, he's been called by T&T and is legally required to isolate. I wouldn't be taking the risk of a £10k fine.

So what do you intend on doing op? Still going to Greece?

lemonyfox · 04/08/2021 18:16

Why do people keep assuming both vaccines stop you from catching this form of coronavirus. It doesn't, it just greatly reduces your chance of becoming seriously ill. Honestly where have people been for the last few months.

Ilovetoddlerssaidnooneever · 04/08/2021 18:22

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross

It sounds as if you are keen that he ignore the phone call and go anyway - it's a risk as, like PP have said, he can be checked up on at any time and fined for non-compliance.

When does his isolation finish and when's your holiday? Does your insurance cover you to cancel?

It's also a bit of an arsehole thing to do (not isolating when told to by T&T).
1983mum · 04/08/2021 19:38

@Ilovetoddlerssaidnooneever I don't know. Just doing research.

Gov does so many flip-flops too, wonder if this will be changed on Thursday 5 anyway. Who knows.

Not making any changes until I have more information.

Husband feels fine and not going to Greece until late next week anyway. Who knows.

Op

If your not going to Greece til end next week then you’d be out of isolation surely? Or on last couple of days in which case go! No one is going to be arsed chasing you on day 8/9/10

It’s all scaremongering

The idea that all these contacts are being rung every day is laughable

There have been dozens of threads were people have had covid and never even been contacted nevermind contacts

Katie517 · 04/08/2021 20:53

OP don’t change your plans it’s ridiculous, there is no logic to isolating now and not after the 16th if he is double jabbed his situation doesn’t change its just a date plucked out of thin air!

Also those people saying he will get called, he won’t he is also not obliged to answer his phone so just block the number and turn voicemail off. Also there will be no fine be it £1000 or £10000, to stand up in court if challenged fines must be proportionate and a ten grand fine for not staying at home on the off chance you might have covid even though you have tested negative several times and the rules are due to change in 2 weeks is not proportionate!

The self isolation period is also completely different by country, is Germany is 5 days.

Can I just point out that it isn’t, I live in Germany and it’s 10 days if you’re a close contact of a positive case. Post-travel isolation is another story.

I agree though that it seems a bit ridiculous now that restrictions are about to be lifted. However, given the high amount of cases in the UK I’d be inclined to isolate because you don’t want his pre-departure test to Greece to show up positive.

Imgoingbackto505 · 04/08/2021 21:03

If it's not until late next week his ten days isolation will be up surely?

iloveredpandas · 04/08/2021 21:13

Why are you even asking this is your aren't going to Greece until late next week?! Hmm

RoseWineTime · 05/08/2021 10:19

Doubly vaccinated people don’t need a pre-departure test for arrival in Greece. A negative lateral flow test is required to come home though followed by pcr tests on day 2 snd 8 after return.
