Hi
Nr DH has had 2 vaccinations and last Covid test on Monday
He deleted nhs app as going to Greece and didn't want to be pinged
Somehow have his data and been called today

If he has another Covid test assume he can go to Greece ? Has no symptoms and had 2 jabs

Thanks

If he has been rung, he has to isolate. If it’s the app, it just advisory.

trevthecat · 03/08/2021 18:41

App pinged or test and trace rang?

pigglepot · 03/08/2021 18:44

No I don't think he can go. Two jabs is not really relevant. If you've been contacted by test and trace you have to isolate.

OnTheBoardwalk · 03/08/2021 18:45

The nhs app doesn’t ring you and doesn’t identify you

If he’s called then that’s test and trace and is legally binding

RoseWineTime · 03/08/2021 18:46

Agree he has to isolate if he was called by Test and Trace. When is the trip to Greece snd how long has he been told to isolate for?

Darbs76 · 03/08/2021 18:52

They are 2 different things. The app is voluntary and he’s turned that off anyway. Track & trace calling is a legal requirement so I’m afraid you won’t be able to go

Comefromaway · 03/08/2021 18:53

If he’s been telephoned then someone he has been in close contact with has given his name and details to test and trace.

He has to isolate I’m afraid.

starbrightstarlight8888 · 03/08/2021 18:54

If he's been called that's test and trace and someone has given his details as he's been in contact with them recently. It's legally binding so must isolate and can't go abroad.
It must be someone you know if they've given your dh's details.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 03/08/2021 18:55

God I'd be livid if I were you. But it sounds like someone has given his details as a close contact so he will have to isolate. If I were you I'd be worried about him developing COVID while you're abroad and being unable to return home.

RLOU30 · 03/08/2021 18:56

If they have his actual details and have contact him (not pinged) he must isolate. So no Greece regardless of test result. Sorry.

Kayjay2018 · 03/08/2021 18:56

@1983mum I had to speak with test and trace last week as my son tested positive and I had to vouch for where he had been and who he had seen (luckily only us). I had to give details for myself husband and daughter, so assume someone has given his name and contact details as they have tested positive and he has been close contact. Sadly they didn't ask vaccination status, reinforced the potential fine and gave details of services we could contact if we needed help (food, medication etc) during isolation. They will tell him when he is free of isolation too (note the app was going to release us a day earlier than test and trace people but we have to go by their date)

Winnithegreat · 03/08/2021 18:58

Yes, the App and the Phone call are 2 separate things. You are ‘pinged’ by the app if the app tells you you have been a close contact. This is only advisory.

However, your husband has not been pinged, he has actually been identified as a close contact and is now legally obliged to self isolate. He cannot go abroad.

Welcome to the club - it’s happened to many people unfortunately.

CagneyNYPD · 03/08/2021 19:00

APP - ignore
Test and Trace - self isolate unfortunately

Mindymomo · 03/08/2021 19:28

He still has to isolate, no matter what the test comes back.

Cookerhood · 03/08/2021 19:48

When does he have to isolate until & when are you due to go away? T&T will call him I believe to check he is isolating. What a pain if your holiday is ruined :(

1983mum · 04/08/2021 06:33

I don't understand what the point of the vaccinations were then? He can have testing to show no Covid and did on Monday

Also this system is being disbanded 16 august so seems pretty pointless?

Test and trace doesn't link up IT wise with the passenger locator form system so don't see how they'd know whether he goes abroad or not

Weird that this is still an active expectation.

They’ll know, because he will be called throughout his self-isolation. If the T&T team have reason to believe he’s not at Homs (different ring tone, sounds like being on a busy street or hotel, pool etc) then they have the authority to have someone from the local council go to the home address to verify that he’s isolating in place. If this can’t be verified then they will seek to have the police issue a fine of up to £1000 for the first offence, and £10,000 thereafter.

Whilst double vaccinated and under 18 contacts will not be self isolating from 16/8/21, positive cases will as will those contacts who are unvaccinated, and there’s every chance that things could change if a dramatic rise in case numbers are observed with policy change.

The point of vaccinations was to stop the disease giving you the worst possible outcome, making the illness mild as apposed to seriously ill.

A negative test on Monday when he has been in actual contact with someone who has covid doesn't change the fact that a few days later his symptoms could have developed and he is out there spreading symptoms to everyone he is in contact with cause he didn't isolate.

Aposterhasnoname · 04/08/2021 06:52

I’m not sure test and trace finishes on 16th August. That’s just the app pings isn’t it?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 04/08/2021 06:54

OP do you really want to be stuck in a foreign country because your husbands tests positive? Does he even know who he was in contact with and how are risk he is? It sounds like you're intent on going on holiday. I really wouldn't in your shoes. It's a massive risk to take, aside from the moral issue with potentially spreading the virus to lots of people.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 04/08/2021 07:07

Test and trace continues after 16 Aug, as you say. But 'app pings' don't stop either. It is only the double jabbed and under 18s that do not have to isolate as contacts. Everybody else still does (though the app isn't legally binding,T and T is, and will continue to be so)

But it isn't yet 16 August. The situation is exactly the same as it was 1, 2, 3 months ago.

Trampolean · 04/08/2021 07:09

There is no way he could have been phoned from the app pinging, it must have been through test and trace so he is legally bound to isolate even though the rules change soon.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 04/08/2021 07:17

It sounds as if you are keen that he ignore the phone call and go anyway - it's a risk as, like PP have said, he can be checked up on at any time and fined for non-compliance.

When does his isolation finish and when's your holiday? Does your insurance cover you to cancel?
