Who are these White Rose kooks?

Recently, everywhere I've been, I found thermal printed stickers stuck to lamposts, railings, shop windows etc.

Same print format and similar sentiments - across the West Midlands and beyond.

However, the heatwave has deformed the message (GENIUS move with the thermal paper there, guys) and people are ripping the stickers down pretty promptly.

I finally found them on Telegram and weirdly, it's just like a pyramid scheme.

The main page tells followers to buy a printer, download the sticker templates and stick them to things.

Antivax, contrarian, anti-authoritarian - there doesn't seem to be much of any thought behind the 'movement', other than a pretty childish stomping of feet.

Who are these people and wtf is Telegram?

I saw the Kate video this morning and it's really upset me. I feel a sense of doom for my home country, I don't want freedom if that's what it looks like.

Well I was a bit cross on Saturday when a bunch of drunken louts with six packs of Stella and bits of manky cardboard with "FRedom" scrawled across them marched past me on Buckingham Palace Road chanting Engerland, and harassing random passers by and telling them to take off their masks. Thankfully the Queen was in Scotland, one of the other parts of her still just about united Kingdom, and couldn't hear. I heard they tried the same on the teen pride march that passed them and were shown up for the inarticulate louts they are. They also got buzzed by a party bus shouting "wear a mask" and "get vaccinated" to them.

I agree Nengineer that that madwomen's words were disgusting and vile, hopefully she will be prosecuted for them. She was outed as an attention seeking madwoman by her son a while ago,. She scared him stiff as an 11 year old spouting this nonsense, though those previous genocides never materialised. He is even more angry at her dangerous behaviour since their father is Iranian and some of the people she is using to satisfy her need for attention would want to send him to Iran.

The police presence in London on Saturday was crazy and there were two helicopters in the sky for the whole afternoon, the cost of policing what was to all appearances a drunken day out of lout behaviour wrapped up in some flimsy notion of protest about whatever, there was no consistency in the crap on their placards, must have been huge.

However now I learn they have culturally appropriated the proud symbol of God's own country I am really really cross. It just defiled the nice white Yorkshire rose I knitted on a baby blanket for the newest addition of the family elsewhere in the world so they are educated about their cultural identity. I hope they are not going to appropriate Yorkshire tea and sheep and sheepdogs as well or it goes in the bin.

Every weekend, pride+++ and lockdown marches in central London. Every bloody weekend... both bloody days...

What is this, a new national passtime?

Coincidentally I was in a lift in Trowbridge near the Argos and there was a sticker like that stuck to the wall. Something about your tv brainwashing you.

I tried to remove it in the time I had, but no luck. I don't think my husband was up for riding the lift until I had defaced it. Grin

I’ve seen loads of these and from similar groups over my town in Hampshire. I’ve been taking photos and have quite a collection now. They sort of amaze me with their strange logic.

Well presumably the ignorant twats were marching past the palace to convey some sort of point to Her Maj and their ignorance was manifested by chanting “Engerland” to an absent monarch of the United Kingdom…

It certainly doesn’t suggest they were Republicans out to protest her priviledge. I might have had the teeniest but of respect for them if they had been protesting anything remotely as coherent….

They are literally just a bunch of ignorant louts

Telegram and Signal are both secure messaging Apps. I use Signal as I was very unhappy with Whatsapp/Facebook security and what they were doing with our information. I don't know if 'fringe' groups use them or not. I don't pay attention to anti-vaccine movement , conspiracy theories or anything else. What I would say is Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp are not the most secure. I was very unhappy with those forums, so left. Signal is fine as is Telegram, like any other messaging App you add who you want.

TheQueef · 27/07/2021 15:29

You don't understand Whiskery
They've chosen the wrong emblem.
That rose is ours.

That's a good idea Leanne we should have stickers prepared to cover any bollocks these wazzocks are spouting.
We don't want people getting the wrong idea.

MereDintofPandiculation · 27/07/2021 16:05

@Gingernaut

Usually 'white rose' here in England, tends to have racist connotations.
Is it? They celebrate "White Rose Day in Yorkshire. That's racist only if you regard the celebration of Yorkshire as racist.

Really? What leads you to think that?

I have a carving of a white rose hung above my front door. Do I need to take it down?

I bought it in York Minster. Should someone warn John Sentanu? Though if it has racist connotations then the huge restored stained glass rose window put there in 1500 to celebrate the union of the houses of York and Lancaster (we don’t bear grudges) is also problematic not to mention all the pub names etc etc etc

It was also an organisation that stood up against the Nazis at the cost of their lives. Definitely not racism.

If you Google white rose all you get is references to the emblem of Yorkshire and the anti nazi group.

Whatever the reason these people have appropriated it is will be as incoherent and ignorant as the rest of their thinking.
