Clubs are stuffed full of young people who are well under 18, all of whom have fake ID. However, they can't have the Covid vaccination other than for particular medical reasons. Is there going to be a black market in Covid passports, along with "lost" provisional driving licences?

This was my first thought when I saw the headline about clubs, though I don't have teen kids and haven't been a teen myself for many a long year. I would have been seriously unimpressed as a 16 or 17 year old.

I asked DH this question and he said "illegeal raves" which is a fair point.

I have a friend who is convinced there are no underage clubbers. I would have thought a lot of them will have printed passes that they've got from a friend of a friend.

I definitely agree that it will mean there will be more illegal raves.

I have also heard from a few people about ‘black market covid passports’, so can see this becoming a thing as well.

You can fake anything and it’s not as if the clubs particularly care. As long as they can be shown to have checked ID then that’s where their responsibility ends.

Illegal raves. More drinking in dangerous situations. Black market for Covid passports.

Where is live its passport or driving licence entry only even if you are 50 for loads if pubs and you are scanned in.

In the JCVI announcement yesterday where they said it won't be routinely offered to teenagers they said that all can have it from three months before their 18th birthday - they said to protect them before they go to university or work but maybe, as it turns out, also to preserve the tradition of going to a club for your 18th...

DS and I have just had this conversation. Lots of his classmates have fake ID.

I think illegal raves and house parties. Where we live, they go down to an area of moorland and party there.

DS4 is 18 next week. We were finally able to book his first vaccine today for the first weekend in august. His second won’t be until the second week off october.
We were more focussing on him starting university after only one jab now he’s more annoyed about clubs.

Not great for the first to turn 18 in their friendship group who will have to go alone!

You can get vaccinated 3 months before your 18th birthday, they have already address "first night out!"

It’s not just nightclubs, that’s just the headline (because they’re trying to persuade young people to get vaxxed). It’s all large scale indoor venues/events. Potentially theatres etc included.

They shouldn't be in clubs anyway. The doormen should do their jobs.

This will never be policed..just like under 18s get into clubs with fake I'd or because the know the staff

There no nightclubs where l live small town my son stayed here for a bit a few years ago apparently there are lots of illegal raves in woods and on the Moors..l never knew. I expect they will just get bigger.

Clubs were shit by the time I was actually old enough to be in them. I borrowed my older sister’s driving license for about 3 years, we look nothing alike but the bouncers didn’t really notice. I agree with others that illegal events will spring up to fill the gap. Had some amazing nights clubbing when I was 16/17 that I’d hated to have missed.

So for example, a 16 year old in year 12 will borrow their older cousins ID if they look alike.
They can just borrow their app login too.

I knew someone whose mum worked for the DVLA.. so her mum knocked her up a fake ID, but had to have it posted to someone one else. this person slept with a ton of guys.. then they got grossed out and felt awful and scared for sleeping with a 14 year old.

You'll have your dcs pals turn up at the door for their id and covid passport now
