Photos of crowded night clubs

Is it just me feeling a bit weird and uneasy looking at all the photographs of sweaty people literally crammed into packed clubs across the country?

OP posts:
sashagabadon · 19/07/2021 13:48

I thought it was rather uplifting. Happy for them

PiddleOfPuppies · 19/07/2021 13:57

I'm not the target demographic for clubbing - covid or not, I'm not really inclined to cram into hot, loud, sweaty places any more. However I'm delighted that the youth are back to doing what they've done since time began, after being locked down for so long. I do wonder if some people are just fun sponges in general and get uppity at the thought of people enjoying themselves, so covid is the perfect cover.

Thewiseoneincognito · 19/07/2021 13:57

Nightclubs will be extinct once the infections from Freedom Day come to light and they’re forced to close again. This is the government saying adios to bailing out an industry that is not viable as long as Covid is in the mix.

They are the ultimate for infection risk due to poor ventilation, close contact, rapid breathing for extended periods of time, all of which mean they’re unviable.

Steelesauce · 19/07/2021 14:05

I can't wait to go! My babysitter is currently recovering from an op so as soon as shes better, I'm straight out! I'm double vaccinated and regularly tested. A night of dancing is just what I need after the last few years (not just covid related)

Mindymomo · 19/07/2021 14:05

I’m not looking forward to my adult DS going back to nightclubs. I’ve got to go back to being woken up at any hour when he returns home, in whatever state he’s in and then him staying in bed all the following day with a hangover.

RuleOfCat · 19/07/2021 14:13

@lavenderlou

Given that Covid cases in the Netherlands just rose by 500% in one week after they opened nightclubs it does seem a rather dubious decision. Especially as those going to clubs are more likely to be in the younger, unvaccinated age groups.
And in the Netherlands you had to provide a negative lateral flow or be double jabbed - and even that wasn't enough to stop a surge. I was there in the two-week period when everything was open - people were taking zero precautions.
NormaSnorks · 19/07/2021 14:25

The way I see it, the next couple of months are going to be all about letting those that want to socialise freely, all catch the virus, and pump up the natural immunity levels as a whole for the nation. Just in time for us to enter the difficult autumn/winter period.
It's a calculated risk at a pseudo-herd immunity plan.

I have no plans to change anything I've been doing for the last few months, and if anything I may avoid busy places and venues even more. But shops and restaurants are going to end up closing anyway due to lack of staff/sickness - these same clubbers are probably the backbone of retail and hospitality.

CoffeeWithCheese · 19/07/2021 14:29

I just wished I was 20 years younger - you could feel the joy and release coming from the photographs. I hope many dodgy post-club kebabs were consumed and many hangovers sustained.

GrannyandTom · 19/07/2021 14:32

I do hope these nightclubbers are going to be prosecuted for manslaughter. Mark my words, their grannies will be dead within the month.

Carlislemumof4 · 19/07/2021 14:35

Nightclubs won't be open for long. A month maybe? Unfortunately for those in the business I think the government are ready to let them go to the wall now with no further taxpayer support. Far more hope for outdoor music festivals in the medium term, living with Covid future.

It's all very well saying let the young live their lives. I'm in my 40s now, had glandular fever at 18 and periods of chronic fatigue since. While I've still achieved a lot it's definitely changed and limited my life to a certain degree and some days are remain quite tough. I worry about long Covid for teens and young adults.

Good one 🤣
TimeForLunch · 19/07/2021 14:41

It's so good to see young people out enjoying themselves in the way young people like to do (I realise this makes me sound very old).

frozendaisy · 19/07/2021 14:41

25 years ago I would have been there!

Devondonkey · 19/07/2021 14:45

I’m going to carry on being careful but I am also pleased to see people going back to normal life. That makes no sense really but there we go.

Dumpedwife · 19/07/2021 14:56

Probably a bit of snogging going on too in those night clubs.

I'm.uneasy about the new freedom.day rbh but also at a point of thinking, how can we continue as we have been.

I have 3 kids 19, we and 22. They've bee sat at home, in thiwr rooms, friends gardens and sat at tables.in puns/pub gardens for the best part of 16 months. They need to be clubbing, bumping into people at crowded bars socialising, mixing and meeting people in a similar way lots of usfid back in the day and pre covid.

My late 50s self quite enjoys having a nice table to sit and dip my cocktails at but young ones are over due done proper social interaction.

My only problem.with "freedom day' is that I've already been called a sheep and asked (shouted at)wtf I'm frightened of you paranoid bitch by some gobby arsehole in Sainsburys this morning because I chose to still wear a mask. It's now personal choice. Once again it'd sbout respecting each others choices and avoiding situations etc that you're not comfortable with.

Good to see you are being calm and measured about the situation.
wasthataburp · 19/07/2021 15:03

Made me so happy to see the young people having a great time! Exactly what they should be doing - having the time of their lives!

Troll
caughtinanet · 19/07/2021 15:06

Have you misuderstood what troll means @wasthataburp ?

@GrannyandTom is poking fun at the posters who consistently wait gleefully for the end of days

GrannyandTom · 19/07/2021 15:08

@caughtinanet Grin

clarkkentsglasses · 19/07/2021 15:25

Wonderful to see!

Impier · 19/07/2021 15:26

If I was younger, I'd have definitely been there. Let's get everything back open again, especially for the youngsters who have given up so much over the last year.

pommedeterre · 19/07/2021 15:29

I think it's great that something has happened for the young people who have been regularly shafted over the past 18 months.

I suspect this will be lost on a lot of posters!

woodfort · 19/07/2021 15:34

Wouldn’t go clubbing if you paid me but people looked happy and it made me happy to see.
