Photos of crowded night clubs

Is it just me feeling a bit weird and uneasy looking at all the photographs of sweaty people literally crammed into packed clubs across the country?

No @Wellbythebloodyhell, they're one of the "let it rip", "pile up the bodies" crowd trying to take the piss out of anyone concerned about the reopening.

ragged · 19/07/2021 19:12

nightclub staff so do no want to have to become health screeners.

Why required at nightclubs & not weddings, indoor sport events, wakes, bar-mitzpahs, birthday parties, wedding anniversary parties, heaving pubs, religious worship, etc.? I'd prefer required none of above, also would like respectable logic.

Gakatsbsk · 19/07/2021 19:17

It makes me feel uneasy but that’s because I’ve worked in icu through the pandemic and seen the worst of covid. However, I’ve not looked after any people under 35 in covid ICU, and as this is the predominant age group for clubbing this eases my anxiety slightly.

I looked after plenty of 50-70 year olds who had close proximity parties and dinners and contracted covid, when it wasn’t legal.

These people aren’t doing anything wrong and (unless clinically vulnerable) don’t suffer the same effects most of the time.

We will see what happens, I do agree to an extent that the vulnerable to covid should be looking after themselves, but I fear the spike in admissions and deaths

@NannyAndJohn

No *@Wellbythebloodyhell*, they're one of the "let it rip", "pile up the bodies" crowd trying to take the piss out of anyone concerned about the reopening.
The only people using the phrase 'let it rip' are those with their lockdown/100k cases a day by 21 June 19 July three weeks next Tuesday prophesies. And nobody here has uttered the vile phrase 'pile up the bodies'. What a disgusting, offensive and deeply insensitive thing to suggest.
NannyAndJohn · 19/07/2021 20:17

Well that's the phrase that came out of Johnson's mouth.

summersflowers · 19/07/2021 20:20

While covid may well ‘rip’ if it isn’t actually harmful to the people it is ripping through then I don’t see an issue.

I am a little despondent by now many places are keeping things just as they were.

I don’t want to wear a face mask or pre book, to be honest.

TheVampiresWife · 19/07/2021 20:35

@NannyAndJohn

But nobody here. There isn't a 'pile up the bodies crowd'. Suggesting that there is is both wrong and disgusting.

Totally agree

the media spread more disease than covid Sad

Moonface123 · 19/07/2021 23:31

Everyone wants progress 're corona virus, yet the minute something changes like the lifting of restrictions people are up in arms. You can't have progress without change, what are we supposed to do, stay in some kind of limbo forever?
Life goes on.

beentoldcomputersaysno · 20/07/2021 00:28

I had mixed feelings. It was lovely to see people enjoying themselves at clubs and sad to see again what they'd missed out on during covid. I felt angry that delta was allowed to seed here so early, so case numbers are so much higher than they could have been, making it reckless to open clubs now. I felt despondent at how many of those people would end up with long covid over a longed-for night out, how many would they pass it on to, then thought it's so rife everywhere, why wouldn't they chance catching it at a club as on a bus/at work/at uni etc. I was ffs about vaccine passport but no option of a negative test instead for club entrance, thought if it's so important to do in 6 weeks, do it now! I'm double vaxed, but think it's wrong to pile this pressure on if someone chooses not to vaccinate. Given I think the country is fast approaching total fuckdom anyway, I'm glad the young are getting a chance to go clubbing. It's shit they've missed out on this. So.. mixed, contradictory feelings!

AlwaysLatte · 20/07/2021 00:39

It's madness. One extreme to another.

Wildewoodz · 20/07/2021 01:11

Just stating the following facts without further comment.

The Netherlands opened up including nightclubs.

Cases there soared at an insane rate.

Netherlands closed some stuff again and said sorry.

Legal eagles now taking on cases to sue the government for misinformation and poor public health measures leading to young people getting ill with complications

I've heard it all now. Are people really so stupid that they need the government to tell them they may get ill going to a crowded nightclub during a pandemic?

CoffeeWithCheese · 20/07/2021 09:38

@PiddleOfPuppies

After today's announcement about vaccine passports for clubs and other "crowded" areas, I'm tempted to go clubbing this weekend myself. I've never been one for sticking two fingers at the Establishment, but they've crossed a line for me.
Those poor young people - denied a nightlife for a year and a bit and now all us old farts are looking on enviously considering going back for a quick spot of living it up like we're 18 again! They'd be mortified!
Neron · 20/07/2021 09:47

I look at the pics and feel jealous...I'd love to go

This is in relation to the Jansen vaccine, initially you were allowed to be 'free' immediately after having Janssen.
The Dutch gov later said they were wrong and Jansen recipients should continue to take precautions for two weeks, as with the other vaccines.
If a person developed long COVID as a result of believing they were 'safe' after having Jansen the gov has said they will offer compensation.

The Jansen vaccine was very popular here in the Netherlands (the booking site almost instantly crashed when it was made available!)
It's not recommend for under 44s, but young people were able to request to have it if you 'understood the risks'.

Abraxan · 20/07/2021 10:18

@Greyhair59

Good for them. My ds is 19 and went to his first club last night. Fully vaxxed.
Hope he had a great time.

19y Dd, also double vaccinated, was at her first proper nightclub last night. She's been inside them recently as local ones have had table service, no dancing, 'pub' style nights but this is the first proper one with dancing and no restrictions.

They were heading for the club queue as I went to bed last night. Think it closed at 4am. She's stayed at a friends so no sign of her for a while but I trust she had a great time, albeit a very hot and sweaty one in these temperatures!

Two lockdown birthdays, too many cancelled events, too many family deaths (not covid) and 'strange' restricted funerals, too much messed up education (school, exams, first year university), too much isolation and worry (she was very concerned when I was ill with covid and taken to hospital) about it all = right now, I'm just glad she can finally let loose and experience things that she'd have normally got the chance to do over a year ago.

Greyhair59 · 20/07/2021 15:40

Abraxan, my thoughts too. My ds left uni due to stress and is now working for the nhs, returning to start year one again next term. They have been through so much they deserve some fun. He and his sister are limiting clubbing as they don't want to miss work through isolating.

bengalcat · 20/07/2021 15:43

Probably no worse than sport and football crowds ..... wonders if I’m too old to go to the nightclub Fabric in London

Greyhair59 · 20/07/2021 16:56

Am sorely tempted to do so!
