Who is testing positive? Have they been vaccinated? Are they very ill?

Just as the title really. Loads of cases in our Secondary school, almost non of the kids or vaccinated, and no-one is really very ill with it of the cases I've heard about. So who is testing positive - just the unvaccinated?

@Oblomov21

What age groups are only single vaccinated other than very young 18-25 year olds who have only just been offered their first? Everyone else should be double jabbed. I don't know anyone, any adult, who isn't double jabbed.

And I don't have much sympathy for those not taking up the vaccine. Other than for medical reasons. But we know it's largely not for medical reasons.
Eg : wonkeylegs "Vaccine uptake in the area isn't great and the case rate is extremely high. "
Why have they not taken up the vaccine?

People in their 30s only had first jab start of June so won’t have second until August. Even people in 40s only just getting second dose in some cases and then still need few weeks for maximum protection after that.
Wanttocry · 19/07/2021 08:59

I'm 30 and haven't been double jabbed, it only opened up for my age group in mid May so second jab isn't until mid August.

@Waxonwaxoff0 they’ve reduced the gap to 8 weeks now, so if you wanted you could have it sooner than mid-august.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/07/2021 08:59

@fanofsun

I find it bizarre when people say they don’t know anyone who has had covid. Perhaps it’s having young kids - but covid is rife in our region. I worry for the teachers etc we’ve had one very sad loss in our school because of covid via the school - a member of staff to it home to their CEV family member.
I genuinely don't know anyone who currently has Covid and I have a DS at primary. There have been bubbles closed previously but currently none are closed and all children and staff are in school. I know lots of people who had Covid in January wave as there was an outbreak at my workplace and my mum had it in April 2020. But I don't know anyone with it currently.
2tired2bewitty · 19/07/2021 08:59

I’m 40, had my first jab as soon as I was eligible but only had my second on Saturday, which was exactly 12 weeks later. A lot of people have only had one jab.

Firstbornunicorn · 19/07/2021 09:00

@fanofsun it’s ridiculous, but if you think COVID isn’t real, then of course you won’t have known anyone with it. Even if they test positive, it’s all part of the global conspiracy to [not one of them has come up with an explanation for why the conspiracy yet].

Summersdreaming · 19/07/2021 09:00

Me and dp - both had first Pfizer vaccine. I know of 5 others who have either had one or both jabs. All mildly ill for less than a week so far.

CaptainCaveMum · 19/07/2021 09:00

My lovely 41 year old friend has been in hospital with COVID. She’s double vaccinated and normally healthy and active. Sad

Stay safe, people.

Yes that is true but I can't really be bothered to rearrange, I'm tied to going at weekends only due to work and it's hard to get an appointment. I already had to book my second at a different site to the first due to lack of availability.
ivfgottwins · 19/07/2021 09:03

I know more people who have tested positive in the last month than in the entire pandemic. All double jabbed all over 50 - if I'm honest from what I know of them they were among the first to be double jabbed and also the first to become very complacent. They've all had nothing more than a bad cold

ivfgottwins · 19/07/2021 09:04

@Waxonwaxoff0

In my area if you are under 40 and had Pfizer you can have the second jab as early as 4 weeks after the first - walk in with no appointment 7 days a week

I only know one person who has had it but I don’t believe covid is a conspiracy at all. It’s just chance, I don’t know loads of people and most of the people I do know have been wfh for over a year.
And luckily my daughter’s nursery hasn’t had a case.

goldenlilliesdaffodillies · 19/07/2021 09:07

My 18 year old is recovering from covid. She's been pretty ill from it- in bed for just over a week. She's had 1 jab. 3 of her friends also had it had the same time as her. 1 also ill in bed , 1 cold symptoms, 1 no symptoms. All 1 had jab. It's the randomness- you have no idea how you will react until you get it.

Oblomov21 · 19/07/2021 09:07

"They've all had nothing more than a bad cold"

A bad cold is fine. All these people currently with covid? It's minor. It's only serious if they need hospital treatment.

OhRene · 19/07/2021 09:10

My Covid denier sister has it with her kids. I don't know if she's vaccinated though (being a denier). She feels (felt) very strongly that Covid is made up nonsense.
She's quite poorly and rather miserable now especially considering her illness doesn't exist. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Icantstopeatinglol · 19/07/2021 09:12

I’m 43, currently have covid and it’s not nice at all. Double jabbed but I’m immunosuppressed due to meds which I’ve stopped but I’m on day 5 now and feel like someone’s squeezing my ribs and I have no energy at all. Stay safe everyone.

AluckyEllie · 19/07/2021 09:13

ICU nurse here- two ventilated patients, both anti-vaxxers. Several others on cpap who are vaccinated and tbh are the age ranges/medical history’s that we would have expected to be ventilated in the previous waves. Hopefully that shows they are getting less severe symptoms when vaccinated.

Polgara2 · 19/07/2021 09:15

I currently have covid and I'm double jabbed (over 50).
Also just had it are
Dd2 double jabbed.
Dd2 boyfriend single jabbed (but only by a week)
Dd1 boyfriend unvaccinated
Those 3 are early 20s. We've all had varying degrees of feeling rough but nothing serious.

Aethelthryth · 19/07/2021 09:19

My husband- double vaccinated with Pfizer. He would previously have been vulnerable. As things stand he has a slight headache and sniffles.

My son (one Moderna dose) and I (double AZ vaccinated) have tested negative

I’m 31 and having my second jab on Thursday, which will be 8 weeks and 1 day since my first jab. It’s the first appointment I could get for my second jab.

I had my first jab as the text came through from the GP. As in we got a text about 8pm on the Tuesday night, booked the first appointment we could make which was 6pm the following day.

I'm 32 and only my friend who had their first early for whatever reason are double-jabbed.

Had 1st at the end of May, haven't even been contacted to book my 2nd yet.

AuntMargo · 19/07/2021 09:32

Myself, My husband and my 27yr old daughter are all double vaccinated. Husband, daughter and her 2yr old, have all had covid confirmed by PCR testing in the last 3 weeks. I myself have been fine and we are all living together. I think I must be immune

DufferMum · 19/07/2021 09:33

Unfortunately I died in the night!

AuntMargo · 19/07/2021 09:33

to add, Husband was quiet poorly for 10 days, daughter for 1 week and the 2 yr old, just off food and a hoarse throat, she had no temperature or cough and was fine 3 days later

IncessantNameChanger · 19/07/2021 09:42

I have had covid but apart from myself, I still dont know of anyone first hand that's had it.

I know people dh work with, cases in our schools, friends or friends. But no one first hand.

It doesnt mean I am covid denier ( mostly proven as i had it) it just shows there is a vast pool of uninfected people who could still catch it for the first time.
