Anyone more worried about track and trace than the virus?

I'm fairly laid back about coronavirus , had it early on and now double vaccinated.
However cases in my area, like most places , are rocketing.
Yesterday 3 separate friends were pinged by t and t and are now isolating.
Until this stops on august 16th , I'm really worried that I'm going to get hit which will completely wreck my business and have a knock in effect on loads of my clients .
For that reason have deleted app and will be hunkering down, going out less and spending less than I have done in last few months .
Have been happy to eat out etc in last few months but will only be doing outside socially distanced stuff now.
It's madness , we either need to lit it rip now and get on with life or keep restrictions going . Next month is going to be very bumpy for lots of people I feel.

Just dont do track and trace and delete the app

AfternoonToffee · 17/07/2021 23:26

I feel exactly the same. Will go nowhere I don't have to. Due on holiday in a couple of weeks and it feels a hundred times worse than last year.

I don’t have the app but you do have to still give address out at restaurants etc so could get caught out Plus at work from tomorrow, we are supposed to be going back to having clients back in the building and I will be in a tiny room with them for at least fifteen minutes, so if they test positive I will, I assume , be identified as a contact by proper track and trace.

I deleted it very early on. It's rubbish.

HarrietSchulenberg · 17/07/2021 23:44

I've never had the app but my entire workplace were asked to delete it after it attempted to isolate a ridiculous number of people due to its inaccuracy.
I also leave false details on the rare occasions I go out. I make sure I stay distanced from strangers and friends would tell me themselves if they'd tested positive, and if I'd been within 1m for a minute, or 2m for 15 mins, I would isolate myself.
The app is dangerously inept.

Bobholll · 18/07/2021 00:18

Yes, all my friends are saying this. None of us have been worried about covid but we are now all really reluctant to go anywhere in case we get T&T! 😫 roll on August!

toastantea · 18/07/2021 00:21

You won't get pinged by an app you don't have. Test and trace won't be asking everyone who was in a restaurant to isolate.

noblegiraffe · 18/07/2021 00:23

Checking in won’t get you told to self isolate.

BootsScootsAndToots · 18/07/2021 00:26

FFS, you're part of the problem! You can't always properly social distance when you're out.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 18/07/2021 02:14

Never had the app for this reason. I dont go out to many places but on the odd occasion I do I either take a picture of the QR code rather than check in or leave a false number if checking in pen and paper

Warhertisuff · 18/07/2021 07:12

Given the number of people not using the app, and anxious about the call from school asking their child to self-isolate, it seems more people are concerned by getting told to isolate than get Covid. The perception is that the "solution" is worse than the "problem". Personally, I'm more concerned by having to isolate than I am getting the virus (having been double-jabbed).

While I don't think Johnson and his government have an once of capability, I do wonder if they are using t&cs, nudge theory and behavioral science to impose a new kind of lockdown.

Would be quite clever (unusual) on their part if so.

Watermelon221 · 18/07/2021 07:40

Yes I am the same.

We are away next week and I’m dreading having to cancel due to one of us having to isolate.

School are sending so many home and it’s rife here at the moment.

We aren’t going anywhere indoors in case we pick it up and need to isolate. After so many cancelled holidays we really want to go on this one.

MRex · 18/07/2021 07:40

Yes. Both double jabbed and DS breastfeeds, so we're all likely to have a mild case if we catch covid now. One issue is that you can't check OUT of anywhere, another is the ridiculous idea of checking into a shop for 2 min; I only use the app for restaurants or pubs. It would be useful if it was used to nudge rather than a direct command you isolate, "be careful and consider a test on A and B dates, you've had X minutes within Xm of a covid positive person" (and show the contact times rather than make somebody hunt for them). When it was first being released there was lots of chat about how it would be used, but not having legal teeth and known Bluetooth issues, they might as well keep messaging lighter. Then more people might make sensible calls "OK, I'll get a test on days 5 and 10, and see parents a week later instead."

VaguelyInteresting · 18/07/2021 07:45

Yeah I am. I’m a single parent and if I have to isolate, DS can’t go to nursery, which means 10 days of wfh with a 4 year old.

I had covid last year, and have had 1 jab. I don’t want to catch it again, of course, but my primary fear is being told to isolate.

As a result, I’ve deleted the app. I’m not going to any indoor restaurants, coffee shops etc. am having any (few) meetings I need to outdoors and basically not going anywhere indoors I don’t have to, or where I’ll need to be in close proximity to others for more then 15 mins. I see a few family members and friends and we all LFT before we see each other.

It sounds extreme but until daily LFTs replace isolation, I’m holding out.

BooseysMom · 18/07/2021 07:45

Never had the app. I do leave details (not false ones) when we go anywhere which is hardly ever.
Anyone who did have the app was told to switch it off at work.

noblegiraffe · 18/07/2021 07:45

Checking into a venue won't give you a command to self-isolate.

IrisPurple · 18/07/2021 07:47

Me. More for my daughter than myself. Her nursery are continuing with bubbles and isolating whole preschool room (2 year groups) til Aug 16, so I'll be avoiding the pubs for the next month! I was perfectly happy to go out and about earlier in the year. Another mum is taking her daughter out of nursery for the week before their holiday. I daren't tell my little girl about any of the fun plans we have in case they get cancelled.

SpringRainbow · 18/07/2021 07:49

Yep, definitely more stressed about having to isolate than catching the virus.

Just so fed up of it all.

iloveredpandas · 18/07/2021 07:51

Test and trace will call you and legally ask you to isolate if you have contact with a positive person. There are many ways they can get your details...

Venue check in (left details)
Details from a friend
Details from an event/activity/class
Details from work

I've had Covid very recently so am not worried about getting it but I am worried about t&t contacting me to isolate again! I think if you've an event or holiday you really don't want to miss you'd be best to lay low for a bit.

knittingaddict · 18/07/2021 07:53

I've had the app almost since it was available, but I turned off the scanning part a week ago, as have my husband and adult daughter. We are due to go on holiday soon (first since this all started) and we are really worried that we will get pinged and our holiday plans scuppered.

We will still use the app to check into venues but will keep going to eat out to a minimum in the 2 weeks before we go away.

As someone else has already mentioned it's crazy that you can't check out of a venue too. The app seems flawed in many ways.

iloveredpandas · 18/07/2021 07:53

@noblegiraffe

Checking into a venue won't give you a command to self-isolate.
Yes it will if you are close contact with someone who test positive there - that's the point of it!
Aurorie11 · 18/07/2021 07:54

Me. All adults we know double jabbed. But two tween kids, one broken up from school but lots told to self isolate in the last two days of school, not my child though. Youngest breaks up this week. I’m going into work but still wearing a mask. We are largely keeping ourselves to ourselves, as really want to go on our UK holiday that was rolled over from being booked in August 2019.
Turned off the tracking part of the app months ago when heard of ridiculous situations people got pinged in. DH got pinged 4 weeks ago after a night out, he was the only one of the six that went out who got pinged.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 18/07/2021 07:55

my dd is going abroad and is a nervous wreck about covid, as am I, since she believes she wont be able to go, i have only just reinstalled the app out of interest, but i dont go out - how will it work with people not wearing masks? people cannot just say, it is ok, i wore a mask and took precautions, no wonder people are deleting the app
