How many of your household tested positive in the end?

Currently only DH so 1/3 but it's early days.

Also tested positive on LFD and confirmed by PCR

heymammy · 15/07/2021 22:11

5/5 here....ex dp first then two days later dc 2 & 3 then two days after that me and dc 1. We all had negative lfts the day before having symptoms.

We developed symptoms in pairs so had different freedom dates,
Dc 2 & 3 didn't have to reset their 10 days when dc1 and I tested pos.

StiltonVanDeKamp · 15/07/2021 22:15

4/4 - DD brought it back from nursery. Gave it to DS, then me, and lastly DH. We picked it up towards the end of the 10 days so in total we will have isolated for almost 3 weeks.

peppaminttea · 15/07/2021 22:18

6/6 over a period of 11 days, including 2 double jabbed adults. All symptomatic in the end with temperature and feeling quite ill for a few days.

Mumbunmum · 15/07/2021 22:24

I really hope all of you above recover well and hopefully you start to improve in a few days. I cannot believe how it’s sweeping through again, honestly feel like we’ve gone around in a massive circle. 😞

EllaPaella · 15/07/2021 22:29

I am also in an area where the numbers of delta variant are very high. Many of my friends and colleagues currently have it or have it in their household.
I work in a hospital and many of my double jabbed colleagues have it at the moment and nearly all have symptoms and feel very unwell with headaches, fevers, lethargy and diarrhoea. Vaccine status doesn't seem to make a big difference in terms of having symptoms although none of the people I know have been hospitalised.
We have certainly had double jabbed patients admitted to hospital with it though over the last two weeks and numbers steadily going up.

Lateral flow tests are unreliable and there is a very high incidence of false negatives.

AdriannaP · 15/07/2021 22:38

1/3 so far. Adults double jabbed. PCR test and ltf negative, child is positive and has mild symptoms

Weaverspin · 15/07/2021 23:03

1/4 so far, the only unvaxxed person in the house! (They are under 18). We know when they were exposed, symptoms started 5 days later, LFTs negative all that week, until 7th day when LFT went positive, confirmed by PCR the next day. I had a PCR at the same time - negative. None of the rest of us have symptoms, all other LFTs continuing negative.

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 15/07/2021 23:10

3/4. Me (double jabbed with AZ) was the only one not to catch it.

Babyroobs · 15/07/2021 23:39

None of us, and we are a family of 6. However it wasn't really a typical situation where we had been mingling with the infected ds as he came down with symptoms on the morning he had to leave his Uni house. Landlord wanted them out immediately so he had no choice but to come home and straight into isolation. Obviously he just got in his car and drove home no stops anywhere. So we hadn't been living with him as such. He used a seperate toilet and washbasin and only occasional showers. No -one else came down with it.

Lex345 · 16/07/2021 06:45

1 out of 5, youngest DS.
2 of us were vaccinated with AZ dose 1.

However, we have had COVID early in the pandemic (myself and DH, fairly sure eldest DS had too) DS symptoms this time were nothing like the first time around. Headache and temperature, lethargy, vomiting. No cough. He mentioned his toast tasted weird on one day, but that was about it

RosesAndHellebores · 16/07/2021 06:50

DS had a + test 4 days after his first vaccine. He felt pretty rough for one day.

Neither DH nor I caught it but we are double jabbed. DD with one jab didn't catch it either.

However, we don't share bathrooms and have generous space and I wonder if that makes a difference.

Interesting about the lateral flows- all of ours have been positive for the people later testing positive on PCR. I’ve been doing them for months and wondering how useful they are but was quite reassured by this!

Me too, I was doing them twice a week then merrily seeing my parents etc. I did two last week as I woke up feeling sick last Monday, testing negative reassured me.

@Mumbunmum

I cannot seem to find any thread where I can ask this / much information! Can someone help, it’s Delta/Covid related… 4yo Son started with symptoms this afternoon, had a raging temp last night, put it down to an eye infection he’s currently got.. this morning horrible sore throat, and temp won’t go below 38.1 noticed spots at back of throat so phoned GP, they said sounds like could be new variant so get him to a testing facility ASAP, which I have done. However, if it’s negative he’s got tonsillitis in which case he will give him antibiotics AND see him. Can I just ask what your symptoms were properly if you’ve had Covid recently? Getting panicked and cases are rising soooo quick! Ahhhh.
Me - sore throat, cough, no temp, no chills.

Dp - upset stomach, vomiting, aches, loss of smell and taste, cough

Friend - aches, chills, no smell and taste

BIL - same as DP.

All quite different, hopefully his PCR is negative it sounds like tonsillitis to me.. could be both!

1/3 the 1 that has it had AZ double jabbed. 2 that didnt had Pfizer double jabbed

Mumbunmum · 16/07/2021 10:22

The doctor has put out antibiotics to start ONCE the result comes back (if it’s negative) but I’ve just rang to chase even though was done at 2pm yest I’ve heard people get theirs the same day and they’ve said where we are it’s so busy it’s 72 hours. I’m sorry but I really think he’s got tonsillitis and I’m not happy for him to suffer with tonsillitis for much longer without antibiotics. His temp is 37.8 now… apart from his sore throat and being quite tired from not sleeping he seems to be perking up with the Calpol. It’s all so confusing I’m overwhelmed with it all, and exhausted! 😢

Mumbunmum · 16/07/2021 17:12

His temp won’t go below 37.8 even with Calpol (not aloud ibu as he has bad asthma). Haven’t had his results back yet but HAVE just had a message from school to say there is a positive case in my other Child’s class and to collect children ASAP. Now I’m getting really worried my 4yo ‘a test is going to be positive. What a dayyyyy!!!!

mayaknew · 16/07/2021 17:19

2 younger dc lfts positive, all other lfts negative. We all got pcrs

Myself dh ds and dd2 positive.
Dd1 negative

So 2/5 lfts but in the end 4/5 pcr

Chickydoo · 16/07/2021 17:26

1/4

Fauvist · 16/07/2021 17:48

DD got it but nobody else in the house did (me & DH). She is a teenager so was able to isolate in her bedroom and DH isolated in the front room as he had a lot of work coming up and we could not afford for him to test positive. I fed them both by leaving trays outside the door.

We all did LFTs and also PCRs so fairly sure DH and I did not pick it up. Both double jabbed with Astra Zeneca, no major vulnerabilities.

We were also really stringent about eg wiping down the bathroom after each use with Dettol and we kept every window in the house open until DD was testing negative again.

lemorella · 17/07/2021 07:42

1/4

Only me despite the children having horrible sounding coughs too. All negative PCR's bar me. Lateral flows negative throughout (someone told me they only show if viral load is high)

Me and DH both had first jab. I had the lightest tickly cough, gone within 4 days.

Sister in different city has caught it at same time and is really suffering, her DH got a negative PCR, despite living in a teeny flat. She was due to get her first vaccine dose the day after she became unwell, her DH IS 1/2 vaccinated.
