DN is in isolation for close contact. This is her fourth time. I've only ever had to do isolation because of her not being allowed out. Feels very much "Here we go again".

@AssignedNorthern

Yep, DS 4 is isolating until Friday, first time for us so i think we have been lucky so far. School are requesting he takes a PCR test which i don't really want to do as he has no symptoms, is this common practice?
no although it could be due to the area you're in? No such request from our school. If it wouldn't change anything and he wasn't ill, I wouldn't be keen either.
CMOTDibbler · 05/07/2021 11:07

@Pleasedontputthatthere it must have been at my sports club, and my phone was on me all the time. So though it was outside and low risk, my weekend away involves being in a room with other people all weekend and so I'm not willing to put them at any risk

NotFuckingLadyLike · 05/07/2021 11:11

Yes DS2 off school.

He doesn't have to isolate as we was away on holiday so didn't have close contact with positive child.

He can't go to school though as no one to teach him. 🙄

oldwhyno · 05/07/2021 11:22

1 out of 3 is. 6th out of 6 days of remote learning today.

SunSeaSurfGin · 05/07/2021 11:24

Me! Due to be being a close contact f a positive case Day 3 of 6 of self isolating. Track & Trace didn't notify me until a few days after the 10 days had started counting down

colouringindoors · 05/07/2021 11:36

Not my ds but his school have today closed to yr 7, 8 and 9 due to cases and numbers self-isolating including teachers. Feels chaotic.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 05/07/2021 11:55

Me, dh, dd1 and dd2 all isolating because we have it/have just had it.

If dd2 was not isolating due to us she would be isolating anyway as half of the year group (year 10) have been told to stay home.

I would be asking if there is another class he can join, our school has been very accommodating when this has happened
PurpleRainDancer · 05/07/2021 13:53

Yes one DC year group out again

MyFavouritePlace · 05/07/2021 13:54

Yes my DD, came out of isolation on Tuesday last week and had to go back into isolation from Friday due to someone else testing positive. This is her 3rd period of isolation since Christmas. Completely fed up of it.

FawnFrenchieMum · 05/07/2021 13:57

DD and all her class is. Along with three other classes in her school and several year groups in DS’s school.

TokyoSushi · 05/07/2021 14:00

Yep, DS, Yr5, whole class closed, day 1 of home school today, not back in until Tuesday next week!

bentleydrummle · 05/07/2021 14:01

Me 😫

BarbarianMum · 05/07/2021 14:16

Yep, for the 3rd time poor sod. Lots of cases at his school now but this was from a sports group contact. 🤷‍♀️

PeanutbutterPickle · 05/07/2021 14:25

Yep- this morning three year groups got the call to come and collect their kids. 180 kids now in isolation from one Primary school

My DS is also off as 'close contact' and we were also told we 'should' (not 'must') get a PCR test even though he's not got symptoms. The national guidance they sent through says you 'can' get a PCR test if you are a close contact without symptims so I guess that is where it is coming from? www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-for-contacts-of-people-with-possible-or-confirmed-coronavirus-covid-19-infection-who-do-not-live-with-the-person/guidance-for-contacts-of-people-with-possible-or-confirmed-coronavirus-covid-19-infection-who-do-not-live-with-the-person
HermioneWeasley · 05/07/2021 14:43

One of mine. Not even a close contact, just because a lot of kids have tested positive. It’s obscene

NemosPoorlyFinn · 05/07/2021 14:47

Me and my son
He was sent home from nursery because someone in the group has covid
This was his last ever week at nursery too

CoastalWave · 05/07/2021 14:48

Yep. Only been back in a week, now back off again for 10 days. My work sorry HAS to come first. I've already lost a fortune in cancelled work (I'm self employed ).

STOP TESTING KIDS. If your kid is sick, keep them off. But the rest of us, we're vaccinated and the kids education is being wrecked. Yet again, a stay at home mummy 's child with the luxury of being able to just take a nice 10 day break with her child. I swear some people are just constantly testing their children just to see if they're positive.

We've also been told to take a PCR test again. I'm not so keen this time. He's only 6. We don't even know the safety of taking lots of tests long term.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 05/07/2021 15:10

Yup. Dc in yr10. Isolating until Monday after someone in his class tested positive.
The entire yr7 is also off.

Mollylikestodance · 05/07/2021 15:14

Yup. One in isolation here. Good god they need to figure out how to manage this better from September Confused

It looks like it's going to be much the same. I am not sure how "living with it" and 10 day isolation for close contact marries up!

Mollylikestodance · 05/07/2021 15:41

@RosieLemonade totally agree. It's going to be a nightmare as obviously Covid will really spread with everything open. And everyone will be just carrying on about their business apart from the poor kids who will suffer most from loss of education. It's insanity.

EndSI · 05/07/2021 15:44

Yes, and they are double-vaccinated FFS

If self-isolation is good enough for the Duchess, it's good enough for us, double-vaccination apparently means nothing to this science-shirking government of clowns and shits.

EndSI · 05/07/2021 15:50

2% of DC year have a positive test. All the year group are self-isolating now.

Thanks government, DfE, PHE and unions.

Just wait until this generation are running the country. The care homes will be closed and they will leave us to rot in the streets to thank us for treating them like biohazards.

And these are DC for whom the vaccine as been approved as safe by the MHRA, but the government won't give it to them. Just makes them rot at home while the pubs are set to be crowded around the bar and no masks anywhere. Just the kids locked in at home.
