DN is in isolation for close contact. This is her fourth time. I've only ever had to do isolation because of her not being allowed out. Feels very much "Here we go again".

OP posts:
Canigooutyet · 05/07/2021 08:47

Yup. Only went back last week. Over the weekend there's been 4 more positives in one of his classes and he was in the middle of them. Because they are aware how track and trace works in schools the students are contacting close contacts themselves. Good job really as still waiting for school to let us know.

1starwars2 · 05/07/2021 08:50

Yep. DS out all week.
Whole year 7 out for one case.

Horst · 05/07/2021 08:55

All three of mine are off because the oldest got a positive flow.

Howmanysleepsnow · 05/07/2021 08:57

3 of my dc are off. My y10 is on his 7th isolation, my Y9 is on her 3rd and my Y3is on his 4th. All in different schools.
My y4 has had 3 so far. I’ve had 3. Dh has had 1 (when he had covid)

RunningKatie · 05/07/2021 09:01

My Y5 is off, half the school are self isolating currently.
Only one year group seems to have dodged it so far, but it's only a matter of time! Sad

curlyLJ · 05/07/2021 09:18

Home with DD yr2 for the 2nd time. So pissed off.
Teacher tested positive via lateral flow yesterday (yet to be confirmed by PCR) so she would have not had any symptoms Friday in school.
Seems like such a waste of everyone's time. We just can't keep doing this 😡

hennybeans · 05/07/2021 09:30

2 out of 3 DC home today. I think this is dd's 6 or 7th period of isolation this school year. Today is their last day of isolation and I am hoping with all my fingers crossed that they won't ever need to miss school again unless they are actually unwell/ positive.

To say that school frowned upon term time dentist appointments pre- covid, I would have never believed the last two school years would have panned out like they did.

MareofBeasttown · 05/07/2021 09:33

My DS. Third time and he is doing A levels, so can ill afford time out of school. 3 positives in his class.

yep it is - not of the numerous children that have been off with covid locally and sent the class off to isolations are particularly ill thankfully - some have cold like symptoms others nothing. Crazy since if no test wouldn't know they had it and since the hospital admittance isn't up it's hardly causing any illness in adults either - just the annoyance of off work again!

Thankfully the madness of sending an entire bubble/class/year group home will end

whataballbag · 05/07/2021 09:39

Yep!

Councilworker · 05/07/2021 09:39

As of 8.42 my daughter is self isolating. She's Year 2. Only the 2nd time since September and she also had days off while we waited for PCR to come back as her brother had a temp and cough but it was as we expected a chest infection. My colleague has a daughter the same age at a different school and she is also self isolating since Friday. Her 2nd time too. Both girls are fine and fed up

Remmy123 · 05/07/2021 09:42

DS at home 😬

Pleasedontputthatthere · 05/07/2021 09:43

Nope both of mine are in at the moment (touch wood). Mind, if they are isolating due to a 'close contact' that they have not had contact with then I will not keep them in, we will go out for walks and stuff. Hard no to any more home-schooling at this stage as well.

Absolutely ridiculous that the children are the only ones suffering now. They have given up nearly a year and a half to protect others.

x2boys · 05/07/2021 09:43

@Shakirasma

DS isolating this week due to a positive on his SEN school bus.

Despite me working is a school, DH visiting peoples houses for work and DD going to college, every single brush with covid and isolation we've had as been because of DS's school.

We have been very lucky, my youngest goes to a special school, and goes on school transport, we have, nt had a single period of isolation yet, my oldest has, nt had to isolate since November, but I know from another parent there have been positive cases at school in different year groups so I'm half expecting a, phone call.
SciFiScream · 05/07/2021 09:43

My DD's whole class missed the last week of school before the summer break. Then ended up being around a third of the class testing positive and isolating.

DD brought it home to the family so we all had to isolate and one by one we all caught covid. I was free yesterday. DH and DS still have a few days to wait out.

LadyPenelope68 · 05/07/2021 09:47

🙋‍♀️ Me, Primary Teacher on my 5th isolation sigh

Our school was closed last Thursday on the advice of Public Health due to so many cases, reopening later this week (hopefully, if no more significant numbers).

CMOTDibbler · 05/07/2021 09:58

I got pinged last night for contact, DH got pinged this morning. I was supposed to be going away at the weekend too . LFTs all round this morning all clear, ds is in school

coronabeers · 05/07/2021 10:26

Yes. Both dc isolating. Second isolation for both.

Do you know where you got pinged? I would make a judgment call as to whether I was taking that weekend away...
1fluffydoodle · 05/07/2021 10:34

Yes , my son had a positive lateral flow on Saturday followed by a positive PCR.

NotMyFinestMoment · 05/07/2021 10:46

Same here. I was notified yesterday. 10 days off. This is the fourth time. Not even close contact as such, but in the same class. Even if tests prove negative, DC cannot return as the whole class including teaching staff will be off for 10 days. I knew it would happen as they mentioned a case elsewhere in the school 7-10 days ago. Each time it follows the same old pattern, a case pops up elsewhere within the school and then within 1-2 weeks my DC's class is affected and the whole class is off. 40 days off, yet to date, DC has never had a positive COVID test.

honestly if you had turned contact tracing off the app, as most people have done, you wouldn't have been pinged. You know the app goes through walls right? (the virus does not)

Getting pinged by the app is not a legal requirement to isolate.

Personally in this situation I would be doing my daily LFTs. I'd only fully isolate if I definitely knew I'd been in close contact with someone. Eg lunch with my mum who then became ill.

PositiveLife · 05/07/2021 10:56

Yes, dd2 got a positive PCR on Saturday. Her symptoms started last Tuesday. My pcr has just come back negative, still waiting for dd1's.

I'm totally fed up of being stuck in the house.

AssignedNorthern · 05/07/2021 10:59

Yep, DS 4 is isolating until Friday, first time for us so i think we have been lucky so far. School are requesting he takes a PCR test which i don't really want to do as he has no symptoms, is this common practice?

No you only do PCR tests if symptoms are present. The school are wrong to insist you do this.
