Most of the school isolating now. What's happening with your DCS school?

Two entire year groups off and at least half of the remaining two year groups are isolating now at the junior school. The Infants school is starting to get a couple cases creep in so I imagine it will follow suit shortly. Thankfully the children with covid seem to only be suffering a very mild illness or are asymptomatic.

What's happening with your schools? We had a fair few cases before the last lockdown. But nothing this severe. I can see why they're looking to change the rules about school isolation, but seeing how quickly it's spread through the school I'm mixed on what seems like the right approach.

Touch wood we have no burst bubbles yet. I am hoping we get to the end of the term now without. Ds is yr6 so I would be gutted for him and his peers if they had to go off now

allfineanddandytillitsnot · 30/06/2021 08:34

Whereabouts in the UK are you @NotQuiteUsual ? Lots of school in London with year groups out Sad

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/06/2021 08:35

nothing's happening.
business as usual

UserAtLarge · 30/06/2021 08:36

School only isolates direct contacts so there's only a (comparatively) small number of people self isolating. 4 positive cases in last week, but one hadn't been in school for a few days before testing positive.

MsTSwift · 30/06/2021 08:37

South west most secondary have at least 1 year group out

Wtfdoipick · 30/06/2021 08:38

Nothing, despite being in an area of high cases currently approximately 600/100000 we seem untouched. Another school locally had to completely close (very small primary) but whether our school (also primary) is completely ignoring any cases or barely getting any we have so far had 2 classes out in the autumn term and non this time.

SupermanInk · 30/06/2021 08:39

Half of year 7 and 8 are isolating at my daughters school, including my daughter. Not sure about other years but what started as a small group isolating has increased due to further cases.

The home learning is really well set up though, they just log into lessons at normal time’s and do it online.

Primary school in large town in East Midlands. No year groups out, no cases in school since March.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/06/2021 08:39

Not sure about the secondary schools in the area though.

CeaselessWatcher · 30/06/2021 08:40

DC’s primary Year group returned after 10 days isolation yesterday - for two hours before we were notified to pick them up for another 10 days. Two hours face to face education in 20 days.
I know at least one other year was off and I think another one is now.

DelurkingAJ · 30/06/2021 08:43

No bubbles burst at either Infants or Juniors here. One positive LFT I’m aware of this term that was then a negative PCR so a handful of people isolated for a day. In the SE.

Longdistance · 30/06/2021 08:43

Only one year out in dds school on a different site. The school I work in as of today, no years out.

WhatHaveIFound · 30/06/2021 08:43

About 10% of the pupils are off isolating or with Covid plus 10+ teachers. I keep getting the updates even though my Y11 DS isn't in school any more.

How on earth did that happen? Shock

All seems ok here in the local primary schools. Secondary is a different story, but not as bad as it has been at points in the last year.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 30/06/2021 08:44

There was ONE case a few weeks ago.

DinosaurDiana · 30/06/2021 08:44

All year 9 and half of year 8 off.

NotQuiteUsual · 30/06/2021 08:44

We're in the North East. The school seems to account for literally all the cases in our town. A few more classes have just gone off this morning. I'm surprised the junior school is opening to be honest!

My DD was sent home from a contact with a positive lateral flow, which is stupid when you see that you can get a positive from sticking a drink on it.
And the kids proper test was negative.

2boysand1princess · 30/06/2021 08:46

Eldest DS school full closure for a week. Second child has partial closure due to 50% of bubbles collapsing. It’s really bad in my area. I’m in West Yorkshire.

Kittybelle123 · 30/06/2021 08:48

South West London secondary, only direct contacts are asked to isolate. Only one positive case in school currently so very few are isolating.

HelloMissus · 30/06/2021 08:49

We’re still all in.
But school are carefully restricting lots of activities to try to keep the bubbles intact.
It’s all a bit miserable to be honest, but that’s not the school’s fault.

SpaceLordMother · 30/06/2021 08:52

All of year 8 are out and half of year 10. The rest of the the school are in so I have one DC at home and one in school. We're in the South East

CoffeeWithCheese · 30/06/2021 08:52

We had one bubble burst around October time. None since then. Cases within the school tend to have come from parents first getting it (we've got a lot of NHS staff) so the kids were already at home by the time they picked it up.

SpnBaby1967 · 30/06/2021 08:53

Nothing in our large primary school (600 students)

5 cases in the two campuses of our secondary school (3000 students) but timing of these has meant only one class had to isolate.

East of england.

kindlekeeper · 30/06/2021 08:55

Lots out on very tenuous contacts. All out shopping it now seems!
