Why are there so many antivaccine covidiots?!

Stupidly let myself to rise to an antivaccine/anti covid comment on Facebook earlier and I'm kicking myself. I wasn't even nasty and got piled on being called an idiot. Why are there so many people who are like this?

Were the comments made by people you know personally?

Dont let other people's right to decline a vaccine derail you. You do you as they say.

@StillCalmX it wasn't about rights about having the vaccine or not it was about spreading disinformation the people that piled on where the was that talked about the vaccine.

The vaccination rates suggest that there aren't many people like that at all.

What did you say? Did the group/ page have a particular theme?

@Orf1abc that's what I don't get which is probably why I rose to it. I know 2 people that won't have the vaccine because they are covid deniers (unfortunately) but I know a great many people who have had the vaccine and all have been fine.

The post in question was about many people dying of the vaccine and they knew numerous people personally. I can't understand that.

There's no point getting into Facebook arguments. You won't ever convince those people that they're wrong. Just ignore.

@Waxonwaxoff0 thanks I know that the sensible time and its the first time I've done it. I'm annoyed with myself that I rose to it.

I rose to the microchip and 5G covid ones. After that I stopped using Fb. Cannot hear that crap and stay silent.

If you are going to call them idiots or covidiots then dont get upset when they then call you an idiot

@SuranJeep I didn't call them covidiots its just what I've put on my title here. But yes I think most of them probably are.

Not everyone who is in two minds about the vaccine is a 'covidiot' - that sort of language is of no use whatsoever for reasonable debate.

Just leave them to it.

I dont like some of the Covid police and people who try and out-lockdown others, but find its best not to argue with them

I've literally just said I didn't call them that and it wasn't about people not wanting the vaccine! It was about spreading misinformation.

As @FlyLight has said - I know loads of people who are completely vaccinated (including the covid vaccine!!) but who have concerns about the covid vaccines. I don’t think their concerns or views should be invalidated by calling them anti-vaccine or covidiots just because they don’t have the same views as people who are happy to be vaccinated. I am not referring to those who prescribe to the mind bending microchip/control conspiracy theories.

You can't get offended to be called an idiot if you call then covidiots. Doesn't matter if you didn't do it there. To me, still the same.
Name calling won't change anything, it just makes things worse.

Ahh the David Icke contingent…I reckon that they probably won’t convert too many people with their more outlandish views and they do tend to add a bit of spice to a balanced discussion although frustrating to entertain sometimes it’s easier to just acknowledge and then ignore

Please remember there are always two sides and that FB itself suppressed any negative reports on the vaccines (and also any speculation it started in a lab!) so people are angry.

I don’t care what people do with the vaccine as long as they do so quietly. People are free to express opinions either way on FB and calling them idiots is just shutting debate. Why not listen to their concerns?

Well if you're going to be so disrespectful about them then don't be annoyed when they turn on you.

Maybe realise that the vaccine isn't compulsory, and not everyone follows the same ideas you have?

I’m not a covidiot but do have some worries about the vaccine. Parents both scientists - zoologist and microbiologist/ university Dean. Both have rejected the vaccine (60 and 65 years old) their rejection worries me. They are well read and my needle phobia also adds to the stress. I’m trying to get my nerves under control but then I’ll ring my parents and they will put my head in a spin. It’s hard when people you trust and know to be intelligent are anti vaccine…

Report false posts rather than respond.
