No legal compulsion to wear face masks once restrictions are lifted

Sky News reporting this morning that George Eustice has said with the removal of restrictions on July 19th will also come the removal of legal requirements to wear face coverings. I’m torn on how I feel about this.

@Sparklingbrook I know people who work with SEN teenagers and go out shopping etc with small groups of them. You've no idea if the 'family' you saw were even related.

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 17:30

Fucking brilliant news!

Whatever9999 · 24/06/2021 17:31

@Sparklingbrook

I saw a whole family today wearing exempt lanyards. Parents and three teenagers. What's the chances of a whole family being exempt?
Well as autism has a high hereditary tendency, there's a good chance. I'm autistic, 5 of my children are autistic (4 of which are adults), how lovely to know that you would be a judgey-pants if we were anywhere you were.
prodilp1 · 24/06/2021 17:31
@prodilp1 - your opinion.
What is?

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2021 17:32

I thought I'd get a reply like yours @TheVampiresWife. It is absolutely none of my business. I noticed it and that was that. Quite weird to suddenly have 5 adults come round the corner of the shop towards me all maskless that was all.
It's not like I stopped them to quiz them or anything. Grin Hopefully we'll all be maskless soon enough.

bruffin · 24/06/2021 17:33

@WrongKindOfFace

No fucker is wearing them anyway. I’m currently on public transport and not a single person under about 20 is bothering, and around a third of those over 20 are not wearing one.
Nonsense, tube train in london full of face mask wearers
Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2021 17:39

@Whatever9999, as I explained I noticed. That is all. They came around the corner and I saw them. It was unusual to see a lot of adult sized people minus masks but as I said hopefully that'll be all of us soon.

newnortherner111 · 24/06/2021 17:40

It is probably the last thing I'd remove of restrictions. Apart from the handcuffs that should be around the Prime Minister as he should be arrested for manslaughter.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 24/06/2021 17:43

Thank god for that!

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 17:44

Masks should never have been made compulsory and should be the first thing to go.

Those who want to can keep wearing them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Againstmachine · 24/06/2021 17:45

Really @quizqueen? If everyone had adhered to the proper rules and worn medical grade masks it might have helped

But it helps if you don't make rules up, medical grade masks have never been mandated, masks have never been mandated just a face covering.

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2021 17:46

When this first started you couldn't even get hold of masks, medical grade or otherwise. I remember getting some from Amazon in desperation and paying £££s.
Now you can pick them up just about anywhere.

SaskiaRembrandt · 24/06/2021 17:51

Conversely, I've just got off a bus on which all passengers (aged about around 14 and up) were wearing one. The only exception was a small baby who obviously didn't have to.

Does my anecdata negate yours?

Yes, quite so. George 'Eustice' Useless, what a total fucking plank.
WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 24/06/2021 17:58

WHEN restrictions are lifted. That’s why I won’t watch the news.

@prodilp1

Would you rather the UK have PPE or the UK not have any PPE? Serious question because there is a GLOBAL SHORTAGE. Can’t possibly think why, can you??🤔

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 24/06/2021 18:00

Thank god SOMEONE tackled the issue of Global PPE shortage instead of fannying around arguing!

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 24/06/2021 18:02

Keir - please sack all of your MP’s immediately!

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 24/06/2021 18:04

On another thread @MistressoftheDarkside is claiming that everybody is sticking to the rules 🤔

TobyLeRhone · 24/06/2021 18:15

Good. Hate the bastard things with a passion.

ClaudiaWankleman · 24/06/2021 18:16

Lots of cultures wear face masks and practice good hygiene during the winter months/flu seasons.

Which cultures are those @babbaloushka ? There is a culture in some countries of wearing a facemask on public transport when you are actually ill and coughing and sneezing, but I don't know of a single country where it is normal to wear a face mask when you are perfectly healthy.

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 24/06/2021 18:22

At the minute - all countries 🤷‍♂️

Chillychangchoo · 24/06/2021 18:31

What the second poster said.

Thank fuck for that.

UsedName000 · 24/06/2021 18:34

I don’t like wearing them and struggle to breathe sometimes (asthmatic) but last year, before masks were required, seeing a woman in Sainsbury’s sneezing repeatedly into her trolley/over the contents, which the assistant would have then handled obliviously, I can kind of see the point.

Downtown36 · 24/06/2021 18:36

Hallelujah. I find them so oppressive and the negative connotations for me far outweigh the ‘benefit’.

That said, I’m very happy for those that want to continue to wear them to do so.

youshouldbeplotting · 24/06/2021 18:47

I hope they go in Wales soon too, I am so sick of them. I want to wear lipstick!
