Go about you normal day to day …go to work/public transport/ eat out/children in school/supermarket visit etc with the required precautions taken have you managed not to get COVID so far?
A genuine question to understand how this compares with the highly transmissible delta variance…
I’m 40- not yet vaccinated and go into work only 1 day now…but I don’t go anywhere else so might not be giving a realistic picture…

Note: this is not a name calling, or shouting at people for not being vaccinated thread. Please don’t turn this into one….

Thank you for your kind message.

It is great that you have been making the most of the summer and easing up.

I am not sure but I think maybe you think I am scared of the world but I am not at all. It is just that I have nothing to go out for or anyone to go anywhere with now but if I did I would be beating you to it!![/quote]
Well I hope that changes for you soon
Why don’t you go to a stand in the park and meet with like minded people
There’s a Facebook group called that
See where your local stand is and go along, 10am every Sunday mornings

See if there are any running groups. My Dd meets people on foraging walks
Are you near a beach or lake....shes does wild swimming also
Again fb groups for that also

She home educates, so has a wide circle base anyway
Any volunteering you could do?
Or local groups and charities are always appealing for helpers

It’s amazing how you can just strike up a conversation in a park or near someone’s table at a cafe

I’ve struck up a friendship with the owner of a health shop in a lovely N Yorks town
We just got chatting about the stupidity of some of the roolz and so forth and just went from there
Good luck

shewalkslikerihanna · 23/06/2021 23:33

It’s nice to see so many like minded souls on this thread
It is possible to live your life normally, be unvaxxed , see people and still be ok

Our 12 family members have done all of this and everyone fine

ladypete · 23/06/2021 23:42

I'm late twenties and unvaccinated.

I travel on public transport, go to work, go shopping, enjoy restaurants and pubs etc. I have never caught covid. I'm in the ONS study and I get tested semi regularly for work so I am very certain I've never had it.

Tootsey11 · 24/06/2021 00:06

I have a terrible immune system, doesn't matter what I do, I get everything going around. I have 4 autoimmune conditions and 12 years of chronic insomnia which has destroyed any defences my body has against illnesses. I will probably keep getting it over and over, as a pp has said, some of us are just more susceptible to it than others.

BoredOfThisShit · 24/06/2021 00:14
  1. Me and Partner are Clinically extremely vulnerable Double jabbed ! Had them in January and April

We were shielders, was at home with noone in or out for more than a year!

Only went out 3 weeks after 2nd jab and only been out a small number of times and very careful, masks and hand gel etc

Still get food delivery, Still wipe it all down
Post / parcels in quarantine for atleast 3 days etc

Its been miserable
But we have both lost people from Covid and are both very vulnerable

Roch91 · 24/06/2021 08:41

I'm 33 not vaccinated & do no intend to get it. (I currently have covid) can I ask why people are not getting vaccinated? My reason it feels too soon

Wilkolampshade · 24/06/2021 09:03

My eldest DD, 21, in Edinburgh is very sociable and as outgoing as its possible to be atm. Has a huge friendship group pretty much all of whom have absolutely given up on the rules now. She knows around a dozen people her age who have tested positive this week or last.

User129867588 · 24/06/2021 09:27

Early 40's, not vaccinated, husband had Covid in Jan, slept in smae bed and didn't get it. WFH but go shopping, out for meals and friends and not even a cold in last 12 months. I eat well following an IF lifestyle, live as stress free as possible, exercise and look after myself Smile

I'm 40 and not vaccinated. As far as I know I've not had it, but suspect I may possibly have a week before we went into the very first lockdown. I was just super tired and felt a tightness in my chest for a couple days and felt like I had a cold. It may have just been that then. For me I just feel very uneasy about the vaccine. It's not been tested long enough. The side effects such as women's periods and some others are being glazed over for the most part and that makes me uneasy. I also feel like the majority of the side effects people are experiencing are not being reported. I'm not anti-vax and not saying I'll never get it. But I just want to wait a bit longer to get it. There's too many risks for me at the moment. I've made it this far without knowingly having covid. I would hate to know that I intentionally got the vaccine and it caused me terrible side effects than unintentionally catching covid and getting ill. Don't get me wrong - I am extremely worried if actually catching covid and being left with long covid. So it's a toss up battle in my head that is always on my mind. It's tormenting tbh. But my decision on the vaccine almost always comes back to a normal for me. Even after I've decided yes to it. My mind then rules it out again.

Namechanged4thi5 · 24/06/2021 10:49

@WineGetsMeThroughIt you have written word for word what’s on my mind!

@Roch91 my reasoning is exactly that of @WineGetsMeThroughIt

I’m not comfortable with the attitude that surrounds the vaccine as well…it’s become ugly and shows the true colours of people close to you as well. My husband for example has hot double jabbed and now is pushing me as he wants to travel to our home to visit parents. I understand the reason- we haven’t seen our parents in two years…but he seems blinded to my reasoning for being hesitant- in blunt terms when we discussed it last he basically said that well it could not work out well for you but that’s how these things are(adverse reaction/death/etc)…if it dies then we get to travel…

That’s the way to do it Well done
shewalkslikerihanna · 24/06/2021 11:08

@BoredOfThisShit
That’s not living
It’s hardly existing.
I hope you are going to start engaging with the world and letting go of the anxiety.
Wiping all deliveries down and quarantining your post is so unnecessary and I’m saying this kindly

We only have an allotted time here and Id rather go having whooped it up than sitting in a joyless sterile prison.

Please do yourself a favour and start small and get out and about little by little , it’s almost like you are waiting for death to to take you and that’s not a life.

My dad loved his life and he enjoyed every minute of it.
He died of a massive heart attack aged just 70 . He was fit, average weight didn’t look his age even but he’d just come back from Vegas, had a great holiday with my mum and I’m pleased it was a life well lived rather than sitting shaking in his burrow.

BoredOfThisShit · 24/06/2021 11:53

@shewalkslikerihanna

Please do not tell other people what to do!
Its none of your business

I was a shielder
If i catch Covid, i will almost certainly die !
You have no idea what that feels like

BoredOfThisShit · 24/06/2021 11:56

@shewalkslikerihanna

And my house is not a joyless sterile prison at all

We have books, music, instruments, art and so much wildlife in the aches of land we own around us.

So although not going out has been miserable to an extent

Its far far from a joyless prison!

TheKeatingFive · 24/06/2021 12:09

If i catch Covid, i will almost certainly die !

I mean this gently, but that was never true, even of 90 year olds with multiple co-morbidities.

It absolutely doesn’t apply to you now with two jabs.

When do you think you’ll return to a more normal existence?

Ridiculousradish · 24/06/2021 12:10

37, mother of one (in school), work in hospitality. I live in a tourist town in Cornwall, and our cases have increased massively. I won't be having the vaccination. I felt a bit weird last March, but otherwise been fine. I've been around tourists from all over the place for months, so far so good. I only use sanitiser when I go into a shop.
Don't socially distance with work colleagues, impossible. They're mostly students, so quite a few have been off isolating due to being around positive people.

Ridiculousradish · 24/06/2021 12:28

I feel like I've found my people! I am so surprised that so many are so keen to just go for the jab. I've been so shocked by the vitriol directed at those who haven't had the jab. People who would class themselves as liberal free-thinkers have been bloody horrible - making out that others are stupid conspiracy theorists who are going to cause our country to go into lockdown again.
The social responsibility guilt is big!

I feel exactly the same way...I stopped coming on here for the reason you mentioned but felt inclined to answer this post Smile

I'm exactly the same I think everyone should just respect everyone's wishes/choices!!

Ridiculousradish · 24/06/2021 12:44

Hi User129867588 I've definitely taken a step back from social media.
I hate the preachy element. I don't care what other people do, its none of my business. I hate the emotional blackmailing that's currently going on.

Namechanged4thi5 · 24/06/2021 12:47

@Ridiculousradish it’s the language surrounding this which I find quite shocking - refuseniks, the virus will find the unvaccinated, etc

OP posts:
Ridiculousradish · 24/06/2021 12:47

I'm really concerned about the effect it's having on women's cycles. My friend says she's been bleeding for 4 weeks post jab. Another said her 90 year old Mum has been bleeding. What the actual fuck?
I hate how these things aren't seen as important, it's "only" women's issues.

Namechanged4thi5 · 24/06/2021 12:49

Thank you to everyone in this post for keeping the threads kind and understanding- really not keen on another thread descending into a rude shouting match..

Namechanged4this5 yes the language is awful.
Thank you for starting this thread.

BoredOfThisShit · 24/06/2021 12:56

@TheKeatingFive

And you know this how?

Do you know my medical conditions?
Do you know that after two jabs i will still have very LITTLE protection because people on certain meds and certain conditions the jabs dont work that well?
Which is TRUE!

Do you have 7 different consultants for different things?

Please do not tell me different to what SPECIALISTS have told me !!!

I dont need a pub, restaurant or shops to exist thank you

As i have said up thread, some days have been miserable but mostly we are good

Music, instruments, art, books, wildlife, sitting in the beautiful garden

Dont give ‘advice’ when you dont know a thing about other people !
