Go about you normal day to day …go to work/public transport/ eat out/children in school/supermarket visit etc with the required precautions taken have you managed not to get COVID so far?
A genuine question to understand how this compares with the highly transmissible delta variance…
I’m 40- not yet vaccinated and go into work only 1 day now…but I don’t go anywhere else so might not be giving a realistic picture…

Note: this is not a name calling, or shouting at people for not being vaccinated thread. Please don’t turn this into one….

@makemineadoubleshot I agree. I’m haunted by people I love dying of cancer.

COVID cannot come close to frightening me because of that.

Dustyboots · 24/06/2021 17:09

I just feel an overwhelming sense to not do it. I don't know why - but when women are advised to listen to their gut instinct on every thing else I'm not planning to ignore mine on this.

I also have this same very strong instinctive feeling not to have it. We are always told to listen to our gut feeling but not with this one it seems. I am though.

Orchidflower1 · 24/06/2021 17:26

Well @makemineadoubleshot aren’t you a smug little rule breaker. Thanks for that I’m sure you’re lovely hun.

Orchidflower1 · 24/06/2021 17:26

Fair enough people don’t have the jab but don’t make it worse but flouting the rules.

Ickiness · 24/06/2021 17:56

I’ve been at work and mixing with people right from the original lockdown - probably 50 people each day
Going out/shopping etc
Not had Covid and don’t know anyone that has had it
In fact, I don’t know anyone that knows anyone that has had it!

makemineadoubleshot · 24/06/2021 18:06

Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way - it's certainly not easy as even my own mother thinks I'm scum of the earth for not having it yet and that I'll kill anyone I come into contact with - but that's what having the news on 24/7 does I guess.

And I'm far from smug - just honest. I know loads of people that say they haven't broken any rules ... but I know full well they bend them when it suits. I'm not going to lie - although my life would be so much easier if I did.

I work alone and the friends I've seen inside probably add up to less than 10 in total (and not all together) so surely that's less risk than working in a role with numerous colleagues. And the children are all from the same bubbles - although why I'm justifying my actions is beyond me.

I'm just done with the constant fear and the constant talk of jabs - it's draining Sad

My gut says no too. But I guess I'll never know if it's the right thing to do or not?

ZednotZee · 24/06/2021 18:30

There's many studies, peer reviewed before anybody asks that state O and in particular O -ve blood group appears to be a protective factor against covid infection.
There is ONE which states no correlation, but of course that's the one which got reported via the media Hmm

Can you imagine if the media reported that o -ve carried much less risk of covid and severe disease even if it was contracted. That would be roughly 7% of our population who may not comply with lockdown.
It just wouldn't happen.

So when people say to do your own research, you really must.

Ketogenic diets have also been purported to help a person resist covid infection and was even touted as a possible adjunctherapy in severe infection. I mentioned this on another thread and was laughed at and yet a quick Google search will avail you of this information.

onanadventure · 24/06/2021 18:30

late 20's
not vaccinated yet = due a baby in 5 weeks so waiting til after.

working in office 3 days a week.
distancing from people
not hugging people
wearing masks
antibac hands etc.

not had covid at all yet touch wood.

AliceLivesHere · 24/06/2021 18:54

This is interesting and points to an end point eventually since

"“And in the younger group, under the age of 65, where a much smaller proportion have been vaccinated or double vaccinated, most infections are occurring in the unvaccinated group. "

www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jun/17/covid-cases-in-england-doubling-every-11-days-as-delta-takes-hold

ChocOrange1 · 24/06/2021 18:57

Not yet vaccinated. I don't work outside of the house anyway, but I have children in childcare and go about everyday business, visiting friends, going to attractions and pubs, going on holidays in the UK, going to shops and cafes. Never had covid or even a false alarm. In fact I only know 3 people who had confirmed covid and 2 were asymptomatic, one had anaemia only.

ChocOrange1 · 24/06/2021 18:57

*anosmia not anaemia

Massiveli · 24/06/2021 19:08

None of us have had it. I'm late 20s, kids in school, been seeing friends and fam as well as working out of the home. DH 40s, emergency services so loads of contacts + impossible to social distance, large childcare bubble.

I feel like if we were going to catch it we'd have caught it by now. I only know one person who has, a friend who works in a nursery that was never closed and doesn't send kids home.

Interesting @ZednotZee I'm O blood group.

@makemineadoubleshot

Completely agree with everything you have said.

I'm opposed to the vaccine on ideological grounds.
Albeit I have my reservations about taking a vaccine with precious little long term safety data when I have a genetic history with a veritable wealth of life limiting autoimmune diseases.

I feel that the vaccine is simply the thin end of the wedge. If they are successful in mandating this for the population at large which I believe is the ultimate goal then its game over. They can mandate anything in the future.

The vaccine itself I do not believe to be in any way intentionally malign per se. Its simply a weapon in the ever increasing armour of our government.

Well she sounds just the kind of person I’d want and have in my friends group. Very well said *@makemineadoubleshot* I’ve seen family and friends all through, went all over for lovely drives. Even managed the lakes one day..was a glorious spring day may 2020 Only took an hour and a half as there was nothing on the road Fabulous! Yes we got abroad last October. We were prepared to self isolate on our return but good old uncle Boris changed the rules while we were out there..so didn’t have too. Yayy..another win.

Don’t use sanitiser or masks..can’t be doing with that malarkey.

Never got covid. None of our 12 family has got covid despite my son working with patients with covid.

All good.
Life is for living.

Exactly
The trial on us doesn’t end till 2023
We’ve had a bit of a cushy ride as we don’t work and don’t have your children but I will never stop shouting from the rooftops that what has been done to children has been nothing short of cruelty.

However I don’t want to alter the pleasant tone of this thread so I won’t say any more because it makes me very angry and I’ll end up having a rant.

But before I go
Then there’s what’s been done to the elderly, people in care homes , hospitals.
The disabled and businesses

And I could rant all night on those topics alone.

shewalkslikerihanna · 24/06/2021 20:27

Why not? I didn’t sign up for senseless rules
shewalkslikerihanna · 24/06/2021 20:30

I quite agree and cancer patients have had it so tough it’s been unbelievable and unforgivable.

Many have died while awaiting life saving surgery that might just have saved their lives.

I read somewhere (pre Covid) that type Os get more stomach upsets but don’t catch colds that easily but type As have almost cast iron stomachs but catch colds at the drop of a hat.

I am type A and can’t remember the last time I had a dodgy tummy, probably going back to childhood but every year I get a cold that lasts weeks

Last year was the first time I have gone a whole year without being ill.

If anything I will continue to wear a mask in the winter months if it stop me getting a cold.

Bythemillpond · 24/06/2021 20:35

I have been ill with flu from the flu vaccine, twice. So I am steering clear of the Covid vaccine. I can’t afford to be ill for 6 weeks.
Quite happy for others to have it but for me I need to be well and not purposely make myself ill.

FinallyHere · 24/06/2021 20:38

good reason I haven't been called,

@MistressoftheDarkSide, With apologies if you are not in England

If you are 18 over and have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19 but would like to be, please arrange a vaccination through the national NHS booking service on the NHS.UK website.
