Would you isolate as a contact and miss your holiday?

If you’re double vaxxed, have a uk holiday booked, and T&T call you up as a contact the day before you are due to leave?

It hasn’t happened to me, just wondering if we all need to keep our heads down for 10 days before we leave for our hols in august.

I suspect I’ll get a lot of yes’s. But in the real world, do you think many people would actually miss their holiday on the basis of a possible contact (or even a randomer!) testing positive?

Or maybe these isolation rules for fully vaxxed won’t even exist by august!

Will all the England and Scotland footballers be isolating from the Euros due to that one footballer testing positive? No. So why should I?

Watapalava · 21/06/2021 18:08

i wouldnt isolate

Most people i know who have been contacted haven't isolated either - funny that they stayed off work still tho!

I don't have app and we don't use house phone

I only answer mobile to known contacts because of cold calls so wouldn't be contactable - i'd be home before they'd find me

wasthataburp · 21/06/2021 18:11

No, we would go. Enjoy your holiday

Branleuse · 21/06/2021 18:12

no, and if i was due to go on holiday id be extra careful to not be alerted by track and trace. I got rid of the app ages ago.
Im double vaccinated and I am so done with all this bullshit

Ignoring the moral issue it’s a legal requirement and the fines start at 1k per adult.

Where do track and trace get your phone number from? Always wondered that

You give it to pub/resto etc when asked for it.*

I meant in the case of close contacts given by someone who has tested positive, not related to a venue where you have to sign in.

It's not legally enforceable. If you paid the fine more fool you. Anyone who has disputed these fines have been dropped.

Only thing is the local council send people to your house!

I’ve had 2 around today for Dh. They are coming back again one more unannounced time to ‘check’ he’s isolating.

Katie517 · 21/06/2021 18:24

No I wouldn’t I would just test before I went. You know like Micheal Gove is who is taking part in the “trial” so he doesn’t have to isolate after coming back from Portugal....

Onceuponatime1818 · 21/06/2021 18:24

@danni0509

What area is that?

Does he actually have covid or a close contact?

I’ve not known anyone who has been a close contact been checked on, not even a call!

Abraxan · 21/06/2021 18:28

@Houseofvelour

T&T can only make you legally isolate if you answer your phone....
T&T will also text and/or email if it's a known close contact who named you. dh, DD and or two friends got texts before they got the telephone call when I tested positive, although all four already knew as I told them.

School send home emails/letters and they have the same legal bearing as a T&T call, as the school is acting on behalf of T&T.

danni0509 · 21/06/2021 18:28

@Onceuponatime1818 we are in Lincolnshire, and he tested positive for covid Friday.

They had the council van and name badges on etc, they said they wanted to check we had food etc which I thought was nice but then they wanted to see if Dh was here (obvs was, so I shouted him) he came through stood back and they said we will pop back to check later in the week.

So then I figured they were here to check he was isolating.

Not if it is child self isolating because of case in their class / year. DS is self isolating at the mo and has done once before and there s been no kind of checks. In fact I hear many of his classmates have been seen round and about.
danni0509 · 21/06/2021 18:29

@Onceuponatime1818 saying that though I’m his close contact all recorded on test and trace and they didn’t ask about me so maybe it’s for covid positive not close contacts as OP described.

danni0509 · 21/06/2021 18:30

Yes @StyleAndLasers I didn’t read the OP properly, they came to check Dh as he was positive, he’s not the close contact. My mistake.

ragged · 21/06/2021 18:31

You're really not selling me on idea of booking any sort of holiday.

Abraxan · 21/06/2021 18:31

@CrimsonImp

If it's a known contact the details will usually come from them. I was asked both when they called and via the NHS email to list any names and contact details for known close contacts for the 48 hours before symptoms began. The email took you to a link to complete.
Abraxan · 21/06/2021 18:33

We didn't get any callers to the house when self isolating. We did get telephone calls during the 10 days, though to our mobiles. I doubt they could have known we were definitely at home -we were.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 21/06/2021 18:34

I'm currently keeping my kids off school so we can go on holiday this Saturday (UK). I'm on maternity leave so the only one we have to worry about is dp, but he needs to work because we need the money. I'm determined we are going on holiday.

laselvar · 21/06/2021 18:36

Teacher at a local school tested positive despite having had both vaccinations. It was a month between second vaccination and positive test.
So yes, I would isolate.

The vaccine doesn't reduce your risk of getting the virus. It reduces the severity of any illness and the likelihood of passing it on.

I assume your close contact gives them your contact details.
ZenNudist · 21/06/2021 18:42

No.

Holyfacemask · 21/06/2021 18:43

@Katie517 yes. The trial that you aren’t entitled to take part in if contacted by the app… despite Gove being contacted by… you got it.

kimlo · 21/06/2021 18:45

Yes I would isolate. The person I know who this happened to, also double jabbed, did isolate.
