Why aren’t more of the Scotland football team self isolating since one of their players has tested positive?

Also, why aren’t the members of the England team he came into contact with plus coaches and support stuff etc?

It really does feel like the rules are only applied to us normal folk

@gillianwalmsley because the larger countries or the favourites or whatever you wanna call them have bigger stadiums all set up for the tv crews etc and easier for fans to socially distance

ZoBo123 · 21/06/2021 13:01

I agree the rules should be the same for everyone, this highlights how stupid the rules are not anything to do with the football.

CovidCorvid · 21/06/2021 13:01

Surely they were all on the same coach going back to Scotland the other day - were they all really 2m apart on the bus?

Blessex · 21/06/2021 13:02

@Kjr33 yep except for Hungary. The stadium the other night was packed to the rafters. No masks. No wonder that’s where the uefa officials are threatening to love the London matches to. Unless we give 2500 of them quarantine exemption.

solarlights · 21/06/2021 13:10

Totally pissed off now. Dd has had to self isolate for 10 days after playing netball with someone who tested positive despite not going anywhere near them. The whole team have had to. This is her 4th lot of self isolating not including the months she was doing home learning when school was closed (except for keyworker kids.) How is this fair?

Blessex · 21/06/2021 13:12

@solarlights it’s not fair and I really hope people are starting to wake up now. I woke up back in Jan when I heard Carrie Symonds was having private dinner parties with the chairwoman of the Tory party. Woke me right up.

Kjr33 · 21/06/2021 13:13

@Blessex the Hungary stadium is brand new and built to all uefa highest standards, it replaces a pretty legendary stadium with lots of footy history. I don’t know the covid rules in Hungary at all tbh or their covid numbers etc but the stadium would be a perfectly good alternative venue if our covid rules are deemed to strict.

Blessex · 21/06/2021 13:14

@Kjr33 yep I agree. But that’s not my point.

fortyfifty · 21/06/2021 13:15

My DD's school management team had tape measures out, sending random children home to house arrest quarantine for 10 days after 1 student tested positive. Footballers are in very close contact with one another - much closer than school pupils who spend one lesson together every few days. Seems it certainly is one rule for them and one rule for everyone else.

newnortherner111 · 21/06/2021 13:39

@Blessex your fightback should include making sure you vote to get rid of any Conservative councillor, MP, or any other elected representative. Look at the notice the Tories are taking after losing Chesham and Amersham to the Lib Dems.

As for the Scottish government, I repeat my opinion that the SNP are the best argument against Scottish independence.

newnortherner111 · 21/06/2021 13:40

I'd support UEFA moving the Euro 2020 final to Hungary. To make the point that the current level of cases and the restrictions are entirely Mr Johnson's fault. Today would be the first day without restrictions had India been placed on the red travel list at the same time as Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Blessex · 21/06/2021 14:02

@newnortherner111 hear hear. Fully agree. The India example just pisses me right off. Incompetence and slow moving means who suffers? Yep the plebs again.

Butterflyfluff · 21/06/2021 18:23

Apparently 2 England players are isolating after coming into contact with the positive Scottish player, but no more of the Scottish team are

What a farce!

The only way for track and trace to know who to isolate is if you tell them who you've been in contact with, there is no legal obligation to do this.

I'm more surprised that more of the England team were not "contacts" rather than any of the Scottish.

Although I'm pretty astonished that they actually tested given professional sportsman's ability to avoid doping tests.

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 20:17

Are both football teams fully vaccinated? I read somewhere they’re not.

Oblomov21 · 21/06/2021 20:28

Couldn't agree more. When is Boris on again? Maybe someone can ask him this question.

shouldistop · 21/06/2021 20:30

@Baileysforchristmas probably not, most of them are under 25

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 20:31

I wonder how many of the lovely fans that came to London were positive, they will probably never test so we will never know.

Regulus · 21/06/2021 20:32

Southgate suggested this in March and was ridiculed.
Benjispruce3 · 21/06/2021 20:34

Showed him up close with the manager who had his hands around his face , they were nose to nose. Crazy.

museumum · 21/06/2021 20:36

I assumed the Scotland team are in a training bubble. So they are only in contact with each other and support staff. If more turn out to have it I guess they won’t play Croatia?

BruceAndNosh · 21/06/2021 20:37

@NannyAndJohn

Footballers can get away with anything.

The Euros never should have gone ahead.

If Track and Trace contact me, I'm Claiming footballer exemption
Regulus · 21/06/2021 20:57

It's Test and Trace . TEST.

Clickbait · 21/06/2021 20:58

This is ridiculous Angry

CovidCorvid · 21/06/2021 21:19

Even Boris can’t get it right! 😂
