How many isolations?

Just got an email today to say my sons class has to close again and isolate AGAIN, this is the 7th time! Because I have other children it means we all have to stay home and I have to keep the other 2 at home as well for 10 days because I have no one else to do the school run with the others. 7 times now! Yet some people have seemed to only need to isolate once, or not even at all. How many times have you needed to isolate?

I’m same area as you op SE London

And I’m surprised you’ve had so many. Makes me wonder where you are!

I’ve only had this one through the school - or rather ds has

Orangesandlemons77 · 21/06/2021 16:49

Our school isn't doing isolations anymore just testing daily for close contacts. It's part of a trial.

Do you know when the trial ends?

Wish they’d hurry up and roll it out

We had to isolate 3 times - march 2020 as i had a cough, Sep 21 as youngest had temp and Oct 21 as their dad tested positive. The school have only had two classes have to isolate and one was over Christmas holidays.

KindnessCrusader · 21/06/2021 16:55

None! I have 4 children at 4 different schools.

Babymeanswashing · 21/06/2021 16:59

@LoopTheLoops

I’ve just called the school again and they’ve told me to keep them all at home again, just a joke really! It’s isolating until the 29th?! So annoying we had plans this weekend ☹️
Are you sure they said this? Hmm
LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:01

Would you like my email to prove we have to isolate 🙄 yes they said to keep them at home and log into google class room

Agree it seems madness as the school have attendance targets don’t they

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:02

What do you think single mums do when they have no help and can’t leave a child at home?

OP posts:
scrivette · 21/06/2021 17:02

2 isolations via the school. One via nursery.

About 4 others when DC were awaiting return of Covid test results due to cough or high temperature.

South East Here.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:03

Well it’s against the law for him to leave the house and Covid seems to be more important than anything at the moment

Covid tests results take 24 hours to come back. I was under the impression that all three children had had 10-14 days off school seven times! That’s Not quite the same and seems similar to most families round here (Manchester).
Babymeanswashing · 21/06/2021 17:11

I believe you isolated, although seven times is unlucky, but I think you’ve misunderstood the school saying to keep the others off.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:13

The school are not saying to keep the others off, they don’t have to isolate, the problem is I have no one to bring them which the school understands, so are fine with them staying off. What’s the alternative? They obviously don’t want me to take him out hmmm regardless otherwise they would have offered that as a solution.

How old are your dc

Can they walk in the gate as you drop them off?

Babymeanswashing · 21/06/2021 17:16

Have you actually said to the school what your predicament is? Because there’s no way that they would encourage you to keep them all off. I’m not trying to give you a hard time but I do think you’ve misunderstood something.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:19

Yes I have.

OP posts:
Babymeanswashing · 21/06/2021 17:20

If they have offered no other solution than to keep all the children off then that is very wrong.

They actually said ‘OK ms loops, keep all your children at home?’

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:21

They said they understand why I would have to, what solution do you think they should offer?

OP posts:
Babymeanswashing · 21/06/2021 17:24

They could arrange somebody to collect them and drop off.

They could pay for a taxi

They could organise another parent to help you out.

For starters!

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:26

Well no they haven’t offered any of that.

OP posts:
Frazzled2207 · 21/06/2021 17:28

Is there really nobody you can ask for help? When a friend had this predicament I was more than happy to help take her son to school.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 17:30

No sadly not.

OP posts:
Babymeanswashing · 21/06/2021 17:30

And they should be.

It is NOT good enough, and you are well within your rights to ask for help here.
