How many isolations?

Just got an email today to say my sons class has to close again and isolate AGAIN, this is the 7th time! Because I have other children it means we all have to stay home and I have to keep the other 2 at home as well for 10 days because I have no one else to do the school run with the others. 7 times now! Yet some people have seemed to only need to isolate once, or not even at all. How many times have you needed to isolate?

The thing is the school haven’t told me to just bring him on the school run and they’ve told me to just keep the others off so I don’t really want to get in trouble. I wouldn’t mind doing that if the school suggested it but I don’t want to just do it and risk being reported for breaking isolation! Seems we have been very unlucky.

You don’t have to keep the others home - you take them to school with the isolating child in the car and ask the school where to drop them

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 10:52

I don’t have a car

They can’t suggest they stay home if he has no symptoms?

You only isolate rest of positive PCR or symptoms

ICECream821 · 21/06/2021 10:55

Can anyone take your kids/walk past your house?

idontlikealdi · 21/06/2021 10:58

None for us thankfully, two kids in primary and Dh teaches in secondary.

Abraxan · 21/06/2021 10:59

How many times have you needed to isolate?

Twice.

Once just before lockdown 1 when Dd had a cough.

Second time was when I had Covid myself.

My school has had every class isolate once. I missed them all as they happened over a two month period, just after I caught Covid as I was off ill for so many weeks.

Frazzled2207 · 21/06/2021 11:03

Do you have a neighbour or local friend that could look after him while you do the school runs? Not ideal but if my neighbour asked me and a. the child wasn't symptomatic and b. I was vaccinated, I would def agree on the days I was at home.

I honestly would be pulling out all the stops to make sure the others can attend. If you've had seven self isolations and all three children have been off each time that's a heck of a lot of school time lost.

Not doubting what you have been said but am surprised that your school are ok with keeping the other two off. Our school were very specific about the fact that we needed to send other children to school.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 11:07

I’m surprised they are ok myself but sadly they know I have no one else so what else can they suggest? If they were fine with me bringing him down for the school run they would have said but they have never told me to do that and I don’t want to get into trouble for doing it.

Never.
We isolated when we actually had Covid, and when we came home from France last August. No isolations due to work, school or track and trace for any of us.

bombis · 21/06/2021 12:24

Dd and ds have had to isolate once each. Bursting bubbles in primary in Merseyside.

elliejjtiny · 21/06/2021 12:29

dc1, dc3 and dc4 have had to isolate once each. Dc2 has had to isolate twice.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 13:07

I’ve just called the school again and they’ve told me to keep them all at home again, just a joke really! It’s isolating until the 29th?! So annoying we had plans this weekend ☹️

None, 3 daughters, 3 different school years in 2 different schools.

anothernamereally · 21/06/2021 13:33

3 times whole family, 5 and 7 times for teen dd's at different schools

Volhhg · 21/06/2021 14:09

The school are never going to give you the answer you want because they can't advise you to break isolation rules. Stop communicating with the school and walk to school, bring them to the gate and stay out with your son. Ask another parent to bring them out and then walk from there. A school are unlikely to call the police on you breaking isolation rules to get your children to school most likely they'll turn a blind eye. If you drive then you would still be breaking isolation rules so it's no different walking

knittingaddict · 21/06/2021 14:24

None, despite being in a bubble with my daughter and her primary school aged children.

Honey12346 · 21/06/2021 14:43

0 because I never downloaded the app

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 14:49

I don’t have the app either, all isolations have come from the school

OP posts:
anothernamereally · 21/06/2021 15:32

None of mine have been from the app either, they've been school or test and trace

Itsokthanks · 21/06/2021 15:35

I would just take him on the school run if there's no one to help.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 15:38

I’m not risking a fine unless the school suggest it as it’s me that will get in trouble and pay a fine that I can’t afford to pay, I don’t have the best relationship with the school so I wouldn’t put it past them unfortunately!

Mintjulia · 21/06/2021 15:38

None. But our school insists on every child testing twice a week and submitting results, or they home-school.
Parents haven't been allowed onsite since Easter 2020.. Kids wear masks on school buses. They are very hot on bubbles and hand washing.
Only three weeks to go until end of term. Fingers crossed.

LoopTheLoops · 21/06/2021 15:39

Shocked how many have had no isolations at all! Parents aren’t allowed in the school here either. Weirdest thing is 5 of the times has been my sons class but only once each for the other 2 children’s classes.

The app isn't the only way you can be asked to self isolate.

Many of these posted here are via school.

Others will be through known close contacts - when I tested positive I had to say who I had been with and where I had been in the two days prior to symptoms beginning. These people were then contacted.

I suppose re close contacts you could ask someone not to name you but it would still then depend on the person. It would be irresponsible for someone not to name a known true contact though.
