We ate 100 per 100k, a huge increase on last week. We are in a central London borough.

Chilling to read the thread from the beginning and watch the numbers grow and grow.

  1. Cases up more than 100 on previous week... outer London borough.
Fuckinellitsme · 07/07/2021 10:15

@NannyAndJohn

483.

Chilling to read the thread from the beginning and watch the numbers grow and grow.

I find it quite reassuring.

It's 665/100k where I am (very large northern city) but hospital admissions have stayed the same (around 10 a week) and there have been no deaths for a fortnight, and around one a week before then. We have no patients on ventilators.

Our numbers have been high for a good while so the fact that deaths and hospitalisations aren't increasing is incredibly encouraging, particularly as the figures for deaths/hospitalisations were very high in January when infections were at a similar level.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 07/07/2021 11:51

159 which up 96 in a week…

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 07/07/2021 11:52

I’m Kent by the way.

ChocolateRiver · 07/07/2021 20:51

I’m in the NW last week it was 198 and now it’s 410! Going up so quickly

@EileenGC

4/100k. Big 3.8 million city in Germany, we had 3 cases yesterday.

75% of adults have received at least one dose, and more than half are fully jabbed. All over 12s are on track for having the vaccine before school restarts in 5 weeks.

What is now silly is the UK keeping us on the amber list when the numbers are clearly better than those in the UK.

Crazy isn't it? And my US state is at 9/100k today...
JaninaDuszejko · 08/07/2021 18:45

The UK do ten times as many tests as Germany per 100,000 people and we have a higher percentage of the population vaccinated - 65% are fully vaccinated, 87% have had their first jab.

In my town we are now recording as many daily positive cases as we had at the peak in January but no deaths. The vaccines are doing their job and the cases are in teenagers (who are being tested twice a week) and people in their 20s who are not fully vaccinated. I know lots of teenagers with positive test results but no-one who is ill.

...and what is the test positivity rate in the UK?
mrshoho · 08/07/2021 20:46

are cases starting to level off in your city @Fuckinellitsme? Good to hear hospital admissions remain low.

Do they? In Germany up until 2 weeks ago you needed tests to go to the pub, go shopping, go to the hairdressers. Teenagers also twice a week just as in the UK. People went back to the office months ago and had to be tested twice a week per law as well. I don't see how Germany is testing 10 times less, given the fact most people HAD to take a test 2-3- times a week if they wanted to socialise a little, work, or go to school.
MaryBoBary · 08/07/2021 21:16

273 in a little town in Gloucestershire. I have heard about a few local cases but didn't realise how high it is!

shouldistop · 08/07/2021 21:22

507

East Dunbartonshire, Scotland.

Funny that wee nippy isn't bleating about how well we're doing now.

HalfwomanHalfcookie · 08/07/2021 21:25

207 North Derbyshire.
Shock at 2117 in Durham.

shouldistop · 08/07/2021 21:26

95% of adults had first dose and 72% second dose.
Deaths haven't been rising though so I imagine a lot of the cases are from the stupid asymptomatic testing we're doing.

TheMostHappy · 08/07/2021 22:13

317 - leafy north Birmingham Sad our primary school, childcare setting and the local secondary are all absolutely riddled with it at the moment. Our plans for the next few weeks are hanging by a fraying thread.

Chillychili · 08/07/2021 22:41

207, a town in Cornwall about 5-10 miles from the G7 summit. About 120 children in my sons Primary school are isolating because of popped bubbles. This has happened since Tuesday.

Crunchymum · 13/07/2021 18:29

340 / 100k now.

I've just looked back at this thread

19/06 = 100 / 100k
01/07 = 197 / 100k
05/07 = 270 /100k
13/07 = 340 / 100k

It's really, really scary.

628 here
But the neighbouring council where DHs hospital is 838 and not very far up the road is 1,385
DHs hospital is seeing a sharp intake in admissions and emergency planning meetings have started up again.

wonkylegs · 13/07/2021 18:37

It's so fucking depressing!

EileenGC · 13/07/2021 18:39

7.9 where I live (up from 4.something last week). Fully vaccinated and I still can’t come to the UK, I’m a ‘risk’. The mind boggles.
