No record of my second dose being given, despite my card showing it

GappyValley · 18/06/2021 12:55

I had my 2nd dose two weeks ago at a large centre.
All fine on the day, in and out in minutes, and my vaccination card was filled out.

DH had his dose the next day at the same centre, and within 24 hours, his NHS app was showing he had both doses.

My app is only showing my first dose, so I phoned my GP to see what I can do. They are saying they have no record of the second dose, and this should have been sent over by the vaccination centre, so to contact them.
The vaccination centre doesn't have a phone number, and the iPad bouncer at the entrance won't let me in as I don't have an appointment for a vaccination, nor do they know how to sort it.
119 said they can only book new appointments, not resolve issues. Oh, and they won't let me book another '2nd dose' appointment, because it shows I've already had one

Does anyone know how I can resolve this before it turns into a kafkaesque nightmare?! I'm slightly concerned that I'm going to miss out on all the fully-vaxxed perks if we try and travel this summer...

think it took about 2m for App to show my vaccine status on 1st dose

whineybing · 18/06/2021 13:09

My husbands first dose never went through to the GP but mine did (both had on the same day). GP said that I had to contact the vaccination centre to get them to resend it. I was able to contact them and it was sent through again but they confirmed that it had been sent correctly the first time. They also advised that the GP surgery can access the data on the Pinacle system and manually enter it onto patients notes.

FlowerArranger · 18/06/2021 13:16

I also wonder what happens to people like myself who had their vaccinations abroad and therefore do not show up on the NHS site. All I have is my vaccination card showing the dates when and where the 2 doses were administered. Does anyone know how I can get my UK vaccination record updated?

GappyValley · 18/06/2021 13:20

@whineybing
How did you contact the vaccination centre?
The one I went to doesn't have a phone number, and the gatekeeper at the door wouldn't let me in to discuss it with anyone

All the GP says is 'ask the vaccination centre to resend' so I feel like banging my head against a wall

Book your second dose via the NHS app and then go into discuss it

MrsFrisbyMouse · 18/06/2021 13:32

I think your GP needs to be more proactive in sorting it out. There is a vaccination helpline they can ring for medical people only.

digital.nhs.uk/coronavirus/vaccinations/covid-19-vaccination-record-queries#reasons-for-missing-records

Trying to get a contact at the vaccination centre will be difficult.

I'd email your GP with a photo of your card and the above link and ask them to resolve it.

whineybing · 18/06/2021 13:35

@GappyValley

The vaccination centre was within a GP surgery not a dedicated vaccine centre, so I just contacted the surgery. Sorry I know that does not help with your problem, but I would ask your GP surgery if they have contact details of the centre, I would also ask your GP surgery if they could just extract the details from Pinacle and manually add to your notes (I was assured that this is possible).

GappyValley · 18/06/2021 13:35

@Ozanj

I've had my second dose, so I can't book another one. 119 told me that when I called them

I presume the vaccination centre will have some sort of data manager and/or team leader who can sort this out, but I have no apparent way to speaking to them

The centres where I am are run by the local trust/ clinical group who can be contacted by email / phone. It might be worth a try.

Bells3032 · 18/06/2021 14:00

I had issues with my first dose being wrongly listed as AZ when i had Pfizer. it was a nightmare to correct and i had it at a small GP surgery, My GP would basically do nothing to rectify it.

There should be some contact whether by emails etc for the vaccine centre. if there's generally not then go back to the vaccine centre and you may find a ipad bouncer more sympathetic. try to go towards the end of the session when they are a little quieter and may have less of a queue to deal with.

deeplybaffled · 18/06/2021 14:01

If all else failed, and the system doesn’t show you as having a second dose, you could book one ( as that’ll get you though the door) and then use the time to sort it out?

Aposterhasnoname · 18/06/2021 14:12

Didn’t they say you could get a paper copy of your vaccine records from 119? Maybe if you get that and take it to your gp they might be more willing to help.

Aposterhasnoname · 18/06/2021 14:14

Ive found it. I’d try this.

Facelikeanose · 18/06/2021 14:17

Op did you have to fill a paper consent form for the second one? It might be that the admin have failed to record it or a system glitch.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 18/06/2021 14:20

@GappyValley

Really. Your GP (as your interface with the NHS) needs to sort it out.

Email them and don't ask what to do - just tell them you'd like them to resolve it for you.

The centre where you had it done will need to investigate

www.nhs.uk/contact-us/vaccine-record-help/

GappyValley · 18/06/2021 14:38

Just phoned the GP again and they are flat out refusing. They said I need to get the centre to resend the information, and they can't 'just start adding into my record that I've had a vaccination'
I offered to send them the vaccine card with the batch number etc, but they said that isn't proof
They said they've never heard of the Pinnacle system?!

I think I'll have to chance turning up at the centre and getting a difference iPad bouncer who will hopefully be a bit more helpful than the last one, who basically said if you don't have an appointment, you aren't coming in, and their only job is letting in people with appointments and sending away those without, so they couldn't help me

OP posts:
MrsFrisbyMouse · 18/06/2021 15:16

That's really annoying. I'd be contacting your nearest PALS and also emailing the practise manager.

Your GP can't expect you to try and navigate this without support. (I also suspect whoever you are talking to just doesn't know what to do and is trying to pass the buck.)

The NHS help information clearly states your GP as the first port of call. The ipad person at the centre may well just be a volunteer who doesn't really understand what you're trying to do!

This is easily resolved once the information gets in the hands of the right people - but frustrating that your GP expect you to navigate that first.

whineybing · 18/06/2021 15:19

@GappyValley

I have found this to receive a letter giving your vaccine status

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/covid-status-letter/

Hope it helps.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 18/06/2021 15:21

You're stuck in classic "computer says no" territory. It's actually important that someone is made aware of issues like this - as there may be a problem with other records eg vaccination recorded against the wrong person, or a bunch of records that haven't been input properly.

whineybing · 18/06/2021 15:22

Sorry, didn't realise a pp has already posted the link

MrsFrisbyMouse · 18/06/2021 15:32

Sorry, I just get really annoyed by the computer says no/gatekeeper approach to customer service on display here - especially if the 'system' is as clear as mud. Once ownership is taken, then things can be easily resolved. But this shows how ridiculous things get.

Shadowboy · 18/06/2021 15:39

This is going to be the issue with COVID passports; what happens when there is an error and systems say no- it could be financially devastating for people in terms of being fired or missing £1000s holidays

Musicaltheatremum · 18/06/2021 15:55

Asking the GP to sort it may not work. I've been banging my head off a brick wall trying to sort missing appointments for my patients...we have no control over the vaccine centre records. It's a nightmare

LemonTT · 18/06/2021 16:17

The GP won’t be able to sort it out, unless they provided it.

The data on the vaccine needs to be pushed up to the GP record. In all likelihood the record is just held waiting for some final confirmation to send. Eventually someone will spot it as a held record.

But to make it happen Contact the CCG or health board to follow it up.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 18/06/2021 16:26

The GP may not be able to update the record (as the vaccination centre will still have to verify and investigate) but they do have access to other systems that can look into/facilitate this process. See the attached screen shot from the link I provided above
