No record of my second dose being given, despite my card showing it

GappyValley · 18/06/2021 12:55

I had my 2nd dose two weeks ago at a large centre.
All fine on the day, in and out in minutes, and my vaccination card was filled out.

DH had his dose the next day at the same centre, and within 24 hours, his NHS app was showing he had both doses.

My app is only showing my first dose, so I phoned my GP to see what I can do. They are saying they have no record of the second dose, and this should have been sent over by the vaccination centre, so to contact them.
The vaccination centre doesn't have a phone number, and the iPad bouncer at the entrance won't let me in as I don't have an appointment for a vaccination, nor do they know how to sort it.
119 said they can only book new appointments, not resolve issues. Oh, and they won't let me book another '2nd dose' appointment, because it shows I've already had one

Does anyone know how I can resolve this before it turns into a kafkaesque nightmare?! I'm slightly concerned that I'm going to miss out on all the fully-vaxxed perks if we try and travel this summer...

The issue is that GPs surgery's may not know how to deal with these queries - but that is an internal NHS issue not the problem of the service user. The GP surgery should therefore be proactive in helping to resolve the issue by investigating how to resolve these problems. (As this patient won't be the only one). Just telling someone it isn't their problem is just plain bad customer service.

Summersun4 · 18/06/2021 16:34

I had my first vaccination in May, no record of it anywhere 🤦‍♀️

brieandbacon · 18/06/2021 16:40

Just turn up at the centre and queue up with people having jab. If bouncer asks say yes you have an appt. they generally don't ask for proof. Then when you get to desk speak to the clerk. It helps if you start crying 😂

Franklin12 · 18/06/2021 17:06

Brie. What a good idea. I find our local GP surgery takes no ownership of this type of thing and expects the member of public to sort this out. What about an email to the Practise Manager. They will know that you cannot just turn up at the hub and speak to someone. They just don’t know how into do it themselves.

amicissimma · 18/06/2021 17:20

Other ideas if all else fails.

Turn up at the vaccine centre on a wet day and tell the bouncer you've just had your jab and left your umbrella inside. You know where you left it and are just going to pop in and grab it. Or your phone, or other personal item. Or go in the exit with the same story. Then go to the check-in and ask to speak to the person in charge.

Volunteer as a steward and speak to the person in charge in the course of your shift. (A bit drastic!)

ItWasAgathaAllAlong · 18/06/2021 18:31

Please excuse me if I sound ignorant - just haven't lived in the UK for over 30 years - but here in the Channel Islands you have to present your social security card number (everyone has one, including the majority of children) in order to get your vaccine. When you've had both doses you get a vaccine certificate showing when and where you got your vaccines (not hard, we only have one vaccine centre for the entire island, excepting people who qualify for home visits).

So you'd only have to contact the health service here (not part of the NHS, for those who don't know the Channel Islands have their own health services and governments) and give your social security number and they'd know.

But no one here has had the problems the OP is having. We're also way ahead of the UK in terms of unlocking - schools back January 11th, non-essential shops open from February, masks no longer mandatory... and we've vaccinated far more across age groups than the whole of the UK, over 50% of over 18s have had at least one vaccine now, and almost all over 40s have had both (which is odd, because we only get vaccines pro-rata according to population compared to the UK, but guess that's the advantage of just one health system, rather than the many and varied NHS trusts in the UK?)

The UK system seems a bit - I don't know - unwieldy and uncoordinated? But I know it's easy to judge from a distance when you're not there.

Bananabell · 18/06/2021 18:44

Out of interest, was it a massive vaccination hub or a community centre type one?

I've been doing admin at the latter, and the site managers would always be more than happy to try and sort this kind of thing out. I would definitely go back and try and ask a different marshall if you can speak to the site manager. Your 2nd dose details should have been loaded on to Pinnacle, and then that info gets sent to your GP. Either your details weren't entered properly (perfectly possible, human error and all that), or the info hasn't been sent to your GP for some reason.

Either way, if your GP is being difficult, the site manager should definitely be able to sort it out, and the ones I have worked with would be very happy to do so, as this would very much be the kind of thing they spend their time doing!

Good luck!

Nootkah · 18/06/2021 19:03

@FlowerArranger Youll need to registervwith a GP and provide them with official vaccination records. This will then be on your GP record and will show up on the APP.

Facelikeanose · 18/06/2021 19:51

Don’t mess about trying to get in for umbrellas and stuff, they try to distance people coming in and run on time according to doses etc. Just ring the centre again and ask if you can speak to the nurse manager or equivalent. The gp surgery can’t really do anything as it’s true how can they just add it from a phone call?

GappyValley · 18/06/2021 20:43

@brieandbacon

Just turn up at the centre and queue up with people having jab. If bouncer asks say yes you have an appt. they generally don't ask for proof. Then when you get to desk speak to the clerk. It helps if you start crying 😂
The way it works at this centre is you give the iPad bouncer your booking reference, they enter it on the iPad and ask you to confirm your name, and then they let you in Then as soon as you go through the door, there are 2 desks with people with laptops who ask you your name, dob and address, and only then can you get any further

So I can’t sneak into the building, but even if I could, I need to speak to someone who can sort this out for me which is presumably a specific data controller sort of person?

I wish I had taken a bloody jab selfie, rather than rolling my eyes at everyone else who was doing it, so at least I would have some proof of it having happened..!

I had this and it took 2 weeks to sort

GP can but wont usually sort it

You can't get a letter showing status because the letter comes from confirmation of your GP record which doesn't show the vaccine status so 119 can't do anything

You must see the vaccination centre

I turned up and insisted i was seen pretending i was travelling in few days time

It was sorted in the end but i had to complain massively

HalzTangz · 19/06/2021 00:25

My NHS showed my second dose, my first dose appeared 4 weeks after the 2nd

SuperDoopaTrooper · 19/06/2021 00:38

DH found out local vaccination centre really helpful when he went there with a problem as he couldn't book his second jab and although the first was booked via GP they couldn't/wouldn't help. (His first jab had been put as his second so they changed it at the hub)

101spacehoppers · 19/06/2021 06:43

Urg, I am having a similar problem except mine was never loaded into Pinnacle in the first place. Are GPs able to contact Pinnacle to get a correction done at all? Mine are saying they can't, but surely there must be some way of doing this given the GP is listed as the contact for record errors? They've added it to my health record but of course the QR code only shows one jab.

lljkk · 19/06/2021 07:53

Our vaccination centres (locations) keep opening & closing erratically. Sounds like others are much more constantly open daily since vacc programme started.

kimlo · 19/06/2021 08:10

This happened with my first. The gp sorted it out. She could see on my records that she had booked one for me, there was just no record that I had it.

Second was on the app within 24 hours.

RuthW · 19/06/2021 08:25

This happens regularly. As you gp surgery to contact the vaccine centre. They will have an email and if they don't they need to find one. I contact ours at least once a week for vaccines recorded incorrectly.

RuthW · 19/06/2021 08:26

@FlowerArranger

I also wonder what happens to people like myself who had their vaccinations abroad and therefore do not show up on the NHS site. All I have is my vaccination card showing the dates when and where the 2 doses were administered. Does anyone know how I can get my UK vaccination record updated?
You need to show your card to you gp surgery and ask for it to be entered onto your notes.
MrMeSeeks · 19/06/2021 08:27

What nhs app?

RuthW · 19/06/2021 08:27
@Ozanj

I've had my second dose, so I can't book another one. 119 told me that when I called them

I presume the vaccination centre will have some sort of data manager and/or team leader who can sort this out, but I have no apparent way to speaking to them
Your gp surgery needs to do this. (Part of my job)

kimlo · 19/06/2021 08:28

it's called the nhs app. It's linked to your nhs number. It shows your covid vaccination status, but that isn't what it was originally for.

GappyValley · 19/06/2021 08:58

@RuthW

What do I do if they are flat out refusing to do so?
They (being the medical secretaries I’ve spoken to on the phone) have said it’s up to me to speak to the vaccination centre and sort it. They are refusing to do anything.

Obviously I can’t actually go there and speak to anyone, because it’s another surgery covered in scene of crime tape and only has a crackly intercom to speak to reception to inform them of an appointment

OP posts:
kimlo · 19/06/2021 09:00

can you try going to another center? Theres loads near me and the two I used you just qued to go in and then spoke to someone at a desk.

LemonTT · 19/06/2021 09:00

@MrsFrisbyMouse

The GP may not be able to update the record (as the vaccination centre will still have to verify and investigate) but they do have access to other systems that can look into/facilitate this process. See the attached screen shot from the link I provided above
Not all GPs have access to pinnacle. In fact very few do. Plus some vaccination centres don’t use pinnacle.

The GP practice won’t fix this. It’s the VC.

LemonTT · 19/06/2021 09:06

OP

By far the easiest thing to do is to contact your local CCG or health board. They will follow this up with the centre. This is where you Gp would go if they did get involved.
