Horrific headache after Oxford

Mammaaof · 16/06/2021 12:06

Hi I'm just wondering if anyone else experienced an horrific headache after having the Oxford jab? I had it yesterday and started to feel unwell last night ( I was unwell after my first jab but flu like symptoms) but towards 10pm I started to get an horrific headache and it's still there now, im laying in a dark room and have been sleeping but the pain even to turn my head is horrific. I'm sure it's just a normal side effect but has anyone else experienced a headache like this? Thank you

I think I would want to get checked out if it’s that bad. Call 111? Hopefully it will pass soon but it does sound severe.

WeeEnglishRose · 16/06/2021 12:12

Call NHS 24 straight away for advice. I'm a vaccinator and we ask people to report severe headache between 4-28 days post vaccination, but if it is this severe it warrants being checked out.

Mammaaof · 16/06/2021 12:14

I'm extra worried as I'm only 26 and 2 days after my first vaccine it was stopped being given to people my age, but my partner thinks it's just side effects I don't want to waste valuable resoures x

I've just had second AZ vaccine and at both appointments was told to see a doctor if I had any severe headaches or breathlessness or severe pain in abdomen. Call a doctor or go to A&E.

ClarisseMcClellan · 16/06/2021 12:24

Don't worry about whether what anyone has done, I'm not a doctor but given all we know about side effects isn't it better to be safe rather than sorry?

Can you ring your GP for at least a phone conversation for advice?

MossRock · 16/06/2021 12:25

GP or better straight to A&E.

Its what they are for, and this is new and horrific pain. Better to be safe Flowers

EgonSpengler2020 · 16/06/2021 12:26

"Worst ever headache" is a reason to be seen by a doctor regardless, but with the recent history of the AZ vaccine it is even more important.

I think you should attend a&e straight away, statistically it is likely to not be serious but you will be in the appropriate place if it is a problem.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 16/06/2021 12:27

I would as the vaccinator above has said - call doctor/111 for advice

But also hydrate. I had a headache bordering on migraine yesterday- and realised it was because I simply hadn't drunk enough in this crazy hot weather. 3 big glasses of water (with a pinch of salt) and I felt so much better.

whatswithtodaytoday · 16/06/2021 12:28

It's not a waste of resources, this is exactly what the resources are for. They will run some very quick tests and you'll be in the right place if you do need further treatment. Off you go!

julie81 · 16/06/2021 12:33

Just had 2nd Pfizer hour ago and they said call 111 if you have a severe headache that does not go. I would call or go to A and E. good luck

Don't be ridiculous. You need to go to A&E immediately.

trevthecat · 16/06/2021 12:36

Please call 111 or your GP now

Roonerspismed · 16/06/2021 12:40

Please OP get checked

SirVixofVixHall · 16/06/2021 12:43

Agree OP you need to be seen.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Veterinari · 16/06/2021 13:00

A&E

Geamhradh · 16/06/2021 13:03

Yes, almost all of us at my workplace who had after effects had a 48 hour headache. Mine was after second dose.
Check with your GP if they want to see you.

JuneJustRains · 16/06/2021 13:07

Get it checked. I was thoroughly scolded at my second jab for not getting checked after a migraine-type headache after the first jab. They want to see you.

I agree you should get this checked out to be on the safe side. It really isn’t wasting their time.

Geamhradh · 16/06/2021 13:28

@NotPersephone

Check with your GP if they want to see you.

Really don’t do this. It’s more urgent than GP - if you do have a rare clot, then waiting 3 days for a receptionist to call you back and offer a phone appointment for 3 weeks on Tuesday will not suffice.

Obviously, if that's the state of play where the OP is.
Mammaaof · 16/06/2021 13:47

In a&e now thank you all 💞
