Actually when you read the Times in full it’s very bad news for the terrible trio.

Whitty said ‘at a certain point you have done all your reasonably can given that we will have to live with this virus, which will continue to cause severe infections and death, for the rest of our lives’.

So he’s not saying make the most of it now - he’s saying they’ve done all the can. We now have to move forward and end restrictions.

@Thewiseoneincognito I'm not a regular poster on this thread but every day after the figures are released I have a quick read of it to cheer me up.

You remind me of someone I used to know who would always say "Every silver lining has a cloud". This thread is for people looking for silver linings. We know about the clouds - we aren't stupid. Please go to one of the cloud threads to post your views.

Don't ruin this thread for the rest of us.

Can’t link as on laptop but he acknowledges tolerance for a death rate and that public won’t want to react for flu

I think the below part of the article is really important:

‘ The latest Public Health England (PHE) figures show there were 92,029 confirmed Delta cases between 1 February and 22 June.
Of these, 58% were in completely unvaccinated people and only 8% were fully vaccinated.’

And:

‘ Of the 117 people who died with the Delta variant, first identified in India, 50 (43%) had been fully vaccinated.
And on 13 June, a Daily Mail headline claimed the proportion of those dying who had been fully vaccinated had "scared" Prime Minister Boris Johnson into delaying the 21 June easing of restrictions, describing it as a "blow".
But what these figures actually show is less alarming.
The 43% figure relates to deaths only - so it misses all the vaccinated people who were exposed to Covid but did not catch it, or caught the virus but did not become very ill.
And by now, almost everyone at risk of dying from Covid has been vaccinated (more than 90%).’

You’d think from what a lot of these threads are going on about on here that loads of people who’ve had the vaccine are getting the delta variant - and it’s actually not true x

Yes, im sure it is... but I'm not going to complain too much about it!

Be nice to know if kids would still have to quarantine, considering they can't be vaccinated

I'm definitely not complaining @MarshaBradyo I've already had to postpone seeing my family twice this year.

I just find the timing of it amusing in a weird kind of way.

And apparently your children don't have to quarantine if you are fully vaccinated.

It's expected to be announced on the 15th inline with the next travel update.

Does anyone know when the details of July 19th is set to be confirmed in a briefing?
