I had my 2nd AZ on the 4th of June and as a health anxiety sufferer have been very on edge for the last ten days. Just hoping to hear from others who have had theirs.

@Kaylasmum49

Thanks for the replies.

It's the worry of blood clots that is scaring me. I think the occu6in 2nd doses is 1 in 60000 atm.

I have a history of blood clots and have to take medication to prevent them but I was still offered the AZ jab. I told the vaccinator (for 2nd jab - at the time of my 1st jab clots weren't a thing), who wasn't concerned and neither was I. She told me what to do if I felt unwell or if I had any concerns afterwards and I was happy with that. At 50+ the risk of contracting Covid and being seriously ill/dying are much higher than developing a clot and dying from that. I've lived with being high risk from clots for over 20 years and I know what it feels like to nearly die from one and I am not afraid.

Over 50. Sore arm after first one. Second one 5 weeks ago. Felt a bit yuck the first day, like a bug coming on, but not yuck enough not to work. Then I was fine.

MareofBeasttown · 15/06/2021 07:31

Am 49 and had my second dose 3 weeks ago. DH is 52 and had his over a month ago. Both of us mildly ill after first shot for abt a day, nothing at all after second.

I come from a family of doctors so a huge no of people in my family have had both shots. All fine.

prettybird · 15/06/2021 08:46

Had mine 2 weeks ago tomorrow; my arm was sorer for longer than after the 1st one (uncomfortable for 2+ days) but apart from that, no other side-effects.

Am 60 now but was 59 when I had my first jag Wink

bluedomino · 15/06/2021 09:07

Over 50 here, had really bad side effects with the first one, thought I had Covid again! Had a headache for 6 weeks, fever, dead arm and periods stopped. Spent 48 hours sleeping in bed. Had 2nd, tiny sore spot on my arm but no other side effects and my period restarted that day!

ClarisseMcClellan · 15/06/2021 09:13

Pretty much everyone I know as we are all old enough to have AZ.

But their and my reactions don't affect how you will react. No one can tell you anything other than the global statistical level of reactions.

I know that may not help you but that's the fact of the situation. No one's reaction is connected to anyone else's

TheVampiresWife · 15/06/2021 09:37

I had mine almost two weeks ago. I have major HA but my underlying conditions meant that any risk posed by the vaccine was tiny compared to the risk from covid itself. Living in a Delta hotspot was also a major concern.

I felt vile for about four days after my first one but just a bit tired and vaguely out of sorts for a day after the second. That said I've felt nauseous for the past week and I wondered if that was connected? It may just be the painkillers I take daily though (60mg codeine three times a day), they can be pretty harsh on the stomach.

Spied · 15/06/2021 09:41

Ten weeks ago. I'm under 50.
Had terrible aura migraine ( quite unusual for me- only one of two a year) 24 hours later.
No other issues in the following weeks.

Mrsjayy · 15/06/2021 09:42

I had mine mid may im fine I think you need to put these worries behind you and get on with your life.

IGotFat · 15/06/2021 09:49

Had mine just over 3 weeks ago, I just decided to have it and then forget about it, I have not even read the info leaflet that they gave me with it! Ignorance is bliss!

RoseWineandCake · 15/06/2021 09:54

Had mine 3 weeks ago, in my 30's. I felt terrible for 24 hours after the first, absolutely no side effects after the second, not even a sore arm

Tatum1234 · 15/06/2021 10:14

Had mine a month ago, i’m 40. Have been fine after both.

MimosaFields · 15/06/2021 10:25

Had mine last week. No issues

LIZS · 15/06/2021 10:51

3 weeks ago. Site was a bit itchy but otherwise fine. After first had a bad night and felt tired , headache and fluey but nothing of that ilk with second.

Couchpotato3 · 15/06/2021 10:59

Over 50, had mine 10 days ago. Felt very sleepy on and off for nearly a week, otherwise completely fine. I'm relieved to have had it done and looking forward to getting out more.

Clutterbugsmum · 15/06/2021 11:03

I'm over 50, had my 2nd on the 6th July and other then a sore arm for a day no ill effects.

Aprilx · 15/06/2021 11:23

@Kaylasmum49

Anyone over 50?
Yes I am 51 and had my second AZ jab on 2nd June.

What are you on edge about?

Comefromaway · 15/06/2021 11:27

My dd (age 19) had her 2nd dose a few weeks ago. The first dose knocked her for 6 for a few days but she had no effects ata ll from the 2nd dose.

The same for my parents (in their 60's)

PrimulaPrimrose · 15/06/2021 11:30

I get what you are saying op.

I'm aware that if I get a very bad headache I need to evaluate if I should seek help.
Until that happens I'm parking that worry! I'm also focussing mentally on the protection building up in me: that after 12 days ( is that right?) I am likely to be protected from hospitalisation with covid. That cheers me up tbh.

Artus · 15/06/2021 11:40

Me. Had both, over 60, three weeks ago. Mild side effects that resolved after a few hours and no problems since. Latest figures I have seen are that I am 92% protected.

WarriorN · 15/06/2021 11:43

I spoke to my Gp as id had headaches on and off for 10 days after the first one but brushed it off, then wondered if I was being too gung ho.

He said it would be severe consistent headache over a week to worry.

It's saying on data websites that the second dose is usually less severe than the first.

AlphabetAerobics · 15/06/2021 11:45

I'm 49, CV and double-jagged, couldn't have even found the injection site 10 minutes later, never mind felt unwell!

Scarby9 · 15/06/2021 11:47

59 here. Had it 3 weeks-ish ago. No problems.

gamerchick · 15/06/2021 11:47

End of may. All good, didn't really give it a second thought. I refuse to go through life thinking about and waiting for blood clots.
