Terrified of vaccine. I keep cancelling it

Just that. I am so so terrified of the vaccine side effects!

I have posted under this name before regarding my extreme phobia of vomiting/sickness. I have had CBT twice, which hasn’t worked (clearly). Looking into hypnotherapy but it’s just out of my budget at the moment.

How many people have had nausea/vomiting after the vaccine? I would rather people be honest so I can prepare with anti sickness/ginger :( my appointment is now booked for Wednesday and I am determined not to cancel this one...

I know - I sound pathetic!

I know a lot of people that have had it and many had a reaction. None of them had nausea or sickness.

20viona · 13/06/2021 19:26

Pfizer with zero effects.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 13/06/2021 19:28

I had Pfizer with a sore arm being the only side effect. Same for the two friends I went with to get it.

BikeRunSki · 13/06/2021 19:30

I’ve had 2 x AZ
Arm a bit sore first time
No side effects at all the second time

I’m 50

@User1110

Does anyone know if you can take things like tea/coffee with you in a flask? I think having some ginger tea there for that 15 mins they make you wait will be useful for me (I’m bound to make myself feel sick with anxiety!).
At my one you don't have to sit in the vaccine place, you can sit in your car (or outside or wherever). So i would take a flask of ginger tea and drink it wherever you are afterwards.

I didn't get nausea and neither has anyone I have spoken to. Good luck!

MrsMyreton · 13/06/2021 19:31

Not pathetic at all OP. I'm similar.

I had Pfizer yesterday. Zero side effects, other than a tender arm. Smile

PrimulaPrimrose · 13/06/2021 19:32

Sore arm. A bad night's sleep followed by a fluey day. Bounced back quickly.

People at mine had bought bottled water so I don't see why not. You might have to ask and stand away from others when you take your mask off though not sure.
InnaBun · 13/06/2021 19:33

I had an extra strong mint for the wait and just popped it in my mouth quickly

Rillington · 13/06/2021 19:34

I don't know anyone who has had any side effects apart from my DD who had a sore arm for 24 hours.

Georgyporky · 13/06/2021 19:34

I've had no side-effects.

Just think of what you might suffer if you actually caught CV19 because you hadn't been vaccinated.

IsabellesMissingSock · 13/06/2021 19:36

Also had Pfizer, no side effects apart from feeling tired the evening of the jab and the one after - I slept really well as a result which was brilliant as I normally sleep really badly. Don't see why you couldn't take a flask with you. I had to sit and wait there for 15 min after

dollophead · 13/06/2021 19:38

AZ - just headache, shivery and sore arm. No nausea at all Smile

MonsterMash2210 · 13/06/2021 19:38

No one I know has felt sick or had any nausea after their vaccines.

My husband has had both Pfizer vaccines and just had a bit of a sore arm and a little tired.

I have had my first Pfizer vaccine and my arm was unbelievably sore for a few days, felt really still and heavy for half a day. I also felt a little out of it (I assume because my arm was just so sore - kept thinking it would fall off).

Dustyboots · 13/06/2021 19:39

I’m terrified too - but I’m taking that as my gut feeling/ instinct and I’m following it rather than trying to reason my way round it.

DinoMamasaurus · 13/06/2021 19:42

Fellow sick phobe here! I had Pfizer no side effects just a slightly sore arm and a little bruise.

Definitely take what you need with to feel
comfortable your tea/whatever. I use polos as anxiety medication lol!

It’ll be done so quick just hold on to yourself and try to remember to take some deep breaths (long exhale) to calm while you are there. After it’s done try to be proud of yourself for going then put it out of your head because you will be fine. Have something distracting planned for the rest of the day if you think your brain will be worrying.

I don’t know anyone who has felt sick after Pfizer for what it’s worth, and I know lots who have had it.

InnaBun · 13/06/2021 19:44

If it helps I get anxiety when I'm in a room with lots of people (generally, not COVID related) and they were really helpful when I felt I had to stand back and have a little breather. There were people at every stage of the process all checking I was OK.

InnaBun · 13/06/2021 19:44

I use polos as anxiety medication lol! extra strong mints for me!

strawberrymilkshakeisdelicious · 13/06/2021 19:45

I had moderna and felt nothing but a sore arm for about 24 hrs

NotImpossible · 13/06/2021 19:45

I only know one person who has had vomiting - not 100% sure it was the vaccine (AZ). All others I've spoken to have been a bit fluey, sore arm, or nothing.

GrapefruitGin · 13/06/2021 19:46

Had both doses (az) and no side affects at all with either. I don’t know anyone who has had sickness/nausea!

I took a bottle of water with me so I don't see why not
TotorosCatBus · 13/06/2021 19:47

No nausea or vomiting here but maybe you need reminding (kindly) that vaccines are optional? Thanks

Mindymomo · 13/06/2021 19:48

Of course you can take tea with you, but please tell them when you arrive that you are anxious and they will guide you through with ease. My DS had his Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday, he has had no effects at all. DH also had Pfizer, he had sore arm for 24 hours only.

gluteustothemaximus · 13/06/2021 19:49

I know lots of people who've had the vaccine as I work in a school.

Only bad reactions were the AZ (flu type, fever etc) but no one had nausea or vomiting with either vaccine.

I cancelled mine OP and rebooked but that's because I was shit scared of getting AZ and the blood clots. Also got very very stressed about women's periods being affected as mine are bloody horrendous anyway.

Worst part for me was the queuing as my anxiety got the better of me. Take a stress ball or something to fiddle with if that helps. Grounding techniques are good too.

I don't think being sick is a common side effect that I've seen or heard.

Good luck! I feel so relieved now, and can't wait for my second!
