G7 and masks

Why aren’t they wearing them?!

OP posts:
Thisisus909 · 12/06/2021 00:12

@BonnieDundee

I've seen pics of them sat indoors without masks. If they don’t need to wear a mask, why do I need to wear one in my office? I thought we were all in this together like anyone ever believed that shite
We don’t have to wear masks in our office. It depends on your risk assessment. Likely they are all taking daily tests.
RaspberryCoulis · 12/06/2021 09:06

@Gorgeouslilgirl

That’s true. Hasn’t SAGE recommended wearing masks outdoors too? Shouldn’t these fellas be following best practices?
The law in the UK is that you do not wear masks outdoors. Hmm Perhaps you'd be happier if they were all in full hazmat suits?

They are working. I worked for a day earlier in the year on a filmset. No masks. But in order to get onto the set in the first place we needed a negative PCR the day before.

All of the world leaders, and the journalists, and everyone else will be tested within an inch of their lives, regularly.

BonnieDundee · 12/06/2021 12:08

I have been wearing a mask in my office (in a hospital) mandated by government for the last year, so I don't give a shit what their reasons are, if they're making me and my colleagues do it, they should be leading by example.

Hypocritical fuckers Angry

PixieDust28 · 12/06/2021 12:14

@Slub

It's all bollocks anyway. Wearing/Not wearing a mask does fuck all Plus the majority of this country has been vaccinated.

Wearing a mask is now just reduced to paying lip service to the stupid rules.

I for one like to see faces and yep I want to see the POTUS and his FL not bloody masks!

This information is completely wrong.

Of course masks are effective. I work in an industry where I had to wear masks all day long pre covid. I'm sure surgeons wore them just for the sake of it then Hmm.

You dont have to do in an office, if you can't see why it might be different in a hospital building then that's quite worrying.
newnortherner111 · 12/06/2021 12:49

Haven't almost all of them had Covid 19, apart from Angela Merkel?

BreakingtheIce · 12/06/2021 15:20

Surely they are tested at least once a day anyway? It’s ridiculous!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 12/06/2021 15:21

@lljkk

I don't care about masking but they are crowding together, there's no 1 metre+ here.

I cannot leave aside that even if I had 2 jabs, I couldn't just jump off an airplane from USA & mix freely with lots of people outdoors. But they can whatever they please. How many in their gathering? Sigh.

Actually you can jump off an airplane in the USA and mix freely with lots of people outdoors (and indoors), if you are fully vaccinated. You'll need a negative Covid test taken within the 3 days before you travel.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 12/06/2021 15:24

Sorry didn't finish my post. As someone who'd love to visit the UK and see my family, I'd really like it if as a fully-vaccinated traveller I could do the same when I arrived in the UK from the US as when I arrive in the US from the UK.

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 12/06/2021 15:29

It is not hypocritical. It would only be hypocritical if the G7 meeting was held in a hospital.

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 12/06/2021 15:36

Apologies for getting so angry, but we have the most amazing hospital staff in the world. Thankyou to everybody working in the NHS. Thankyou for being successful and keeping our hospitals safe in a pandemic. And if you are telling the truth @BonnieDundee and just venting, then thankyou for all of your work and please don’t spread unhelpful opinions. You could influence people to prolong our problems. Nobody wants that. It doesn’t help tackle this.

BoJo has his vial of special water to sprinkle around in a big circle that Hancock has prepared lovingly by muttering incantations over it on a dark moon whilst painting his naked body with woad and sticking chicken feathers up his bottom.

lljkk · 12/06/2021 15:48

@ZZTopGuitarSolo,
"from USA". I said "from"
Not within, not to, but from.

G7 Is being held in England, there were plane loads of people who arrived from USA to England. The social contact rules here aren't different just because you had any/2 vaccine doses... unless you're going to the G7. There's not even a 30 person limit for G7, is there?

People attending G7 get special rules in England.

mog27 · 12/06/2021 15:54

The question you have to ask yourself is why are these world leaders so relaxed? I think we are being well and truly played because if this delta variant is so bad surely they'd be taking more precautions?

BreakingtheIce · 12/06/2021 15:57

They've all been vaccinated!

lljkk · 12/06/2021 16:00

Being vaccinated doesn't give people extra socialising privileges in England, BreakingtheIce, or escape from 10 day quarantine requirement... unless you're attending the G7. Lovely privilege, that.

ps: I'm wiling to bet at least one of those attending is NOT fully jabbed. And some may be zero-jabbed. Prince William shouldn't have had more than one jab if on same schedule as rest of us.

BreakingtheIce · 12/06/2021 16:12

They will be being tested daily I'm sure. PW has already had Covid as well as having had one vaccine at least. It's work. People are working in offices, shops and restaurants in close proximity to each other.

mog27 · 12/06/2021 16:19

@BreakingtheIce if we are vaccinated and tested regularly we still have to socially distance though? Yes people are working in close proximity and we've done so since last March and been fine so why are we still being told that measures are staying in place? It's sickening to see this after watching my friend getting some bad news her grandmother had passed away alone in hospital with not one family member by her side despite some of them being fully vaccinated and regularly tested for work. If it's good enough for world leaders to drop social distancing it's good enough for the rest of us, people have suffered enough.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 12/06/2021 16:35

Havant most of them already been infected in previous meetings??

Boris, macron, trudo?

BunsyGirl · 12/06/2021 16:37

@ZZTopGuitarSolo U.K. citizens are not even allowed to step foot in the US, whereas US citizens can come here, albeit that they have to quarantine.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 12/06/2021 16:39

Yes I saw that, did you read my follow up post? I was talking more about how irrational the rules are generally.
