I’m 25 on august 2nd so am basically 25 yet I’ve been excluded from the roll out today.

You're not basically 25, you're 24 and will be for almost another 2 months. They have to put the cut off somewhere, in the meantime you'll just need to wait like everyone else. The rate things are going you won't have to wait that long.

ItsNotNormalLove · 08/06/2021 12:00

They said on the news last night that over 18s should be able to book from Monday so you really don't have long to wait at all.

You're not basically anything. You're 24.
cadburyegg · 08/06/2021 12:02

FFS there’s always one

Ratherbe67 · 08/06/2021 12:03

Well I am very close to 25 it could be argued people born on July 1st are still 24.

It doesn't have to be argued, they are still 24.

Unfortunately for you that's the current cut off, you'll just need to wait until it drops down a level. Per PP, it won't be long.

Jeds55 · 08/06/2021 12:05

Close to 25 but not 25, not being the key word. Has to be a cut off somewhere

Biblionerd · 08/06/2021 12:05

People born on July 1st ARE still 24. What is hard to follow, if you have had your 25th Birthday get the vaccine, if you haven't then wait a wee bit longer.

Crunchymum · 08/06/2021 12:05

People born on 1st July, probably can't book either?
RuthW · 08/06/2021 12:05

But you aren't 25!

BlueDucky · 08/06/2021 12:06

What makes you so special? There are loads of people who just missed out in the various age brackets. Just wait your turn, they'll get to you.

DudeIsADude · 08/06/2021 12:06

Being close does not make you 25. They have to put a cut off somewhere.

Shall we let 17 year olds into pubs to drink before there 18th birthday because they are close anyway? 16 year olds can do their driving tests if they are nearly 17 anyway etc...

There is always a cut off for these things because there has to be.

Ratherbe67 · 08/06/2021 12:06

Yes but people born on the July 1st are getting it who aren’t 25 would different if all getting it were 25 plus but they aren’t

OP posts:
Ratherbe67 · 08/06/2021 12:06

They can book if they are 25 before the 1st July

OP posts:
DudeIsADude · 08/06/2021 12:06

Their*

Snackz · 08/06/2021 12:06

Then where do you draw the line? What about people born in September? People who are 20?

ViceLikeBlip · 08/06/2021 12:06

Oh my god, this is awful. What are you going to do? If you have a quick Google you should be able to find Boris Johnson's phone number. I'd give him a quick call and explain your really unique predicament (there surely can't ever have been anyone else in this position?) and how you can't possibly wait another week, and he'll probably sort this whole mess out for you. If there's one thing old BoJo is good at it's getting shit done.

legotruck · 08/06/2021 12:07

This is the stupidest thing I have read on mumsnet.

Congratulations OP, that takes some doing.

RoomOfRequirement · 08/06/2021 12:07

The covid won't kill you but watch out for that entitlement you've got there.

DudeIsADude · 08/06/2021 12:07

@Ratherbe67

They can book if they are 25 before the 1st July
But unfortunately you don't turn 25 before then.
BlueDucky · 08/06/2021 12:07

They have to have the cut off somewhere! There is a delay between being eligible and actually getting the vaccine in your arm as you have to find an appointment.
JeanClaudeVanDammit · 08/06/2021 12:08

They have to put the cut off somewhere. It’ll probably open to your age group next week or two anyway, I’m mid-30s and only had mine 2 weeks ago so they’re flying through now.

AGirlsGotToDo · 08/06/2021 12:08

You're not basically 25. You are 24.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/06/2021 12:10

Maths and calendars not your strong suit then Grin

BarbaraPapa · 08/06/2021 12:12

A whole new meaning to the word 'basically'.
