I’m 25 on august 2nd so am basically 25 yet I’ve been excluded from the roll out today.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 08/06/2021 15:57

I agree op. My daughter is 23 she can’t have it either and she’s basically 25.

PrincessNutNuts · 08/06/2021 16:03

How far can you travel OP?

There are over 18s walk-in vaccinations in several locations every weekend at the moment.

Over 16 if you get shopping for your nan or weed her garden.

Hax · 08/06/2021 16:13

You'll be able to book it in a week.
My DS is 25 and went on to book this morning, appointment tomorrow. You really don't have long to wait.

legotruck · 08/06/2021 16:16

@Ratherbe67

No if you’re not letting people who are under 25 have people that are born on the 1st July shouldn’t as they aren’t 25 either. So yes they are letting 24 year olds have it

They ARE letting people under 25 have it. Those who will turn 25 before the 1st July! Nobody has said you cannot have it if you are 24 they have said you can have it if you turn 25 before 1st July:

I can't believe you came back to this thread at all, let alone to continue to try and show you are right Confused

BlusteryLake · 08/06/2021 16:17

How do you suggest they operate the cut off system then? The nature of a cut off is that it is arbitrary at the fringes, ie people close to it on either end are very like the people included, but they need to draw a line in the sand in order to operate. It is the same with say, school catchment places or the age of consent.

Yes they are letting 24 year old who are 25 in about 3 weeks have it. There's probably a reason like the delay between being able to have it and being able to get an appointment.
WildOrchids67 · 08/06/2021 16:42

OP are you the one who posted a while back saying you'd told everyone in your office you were already the age you're going to be on your next birthday, and then got annoyed when your colleague pointed out your actual age?

MattsHolidayTan · 08/06/2021 16:53

yes, OP you should, these lines are arbitary. My relative had the same as they were 44 when the vaccines were opened to 45 year olds.
It won't be long though.

People in this country don't realise we have fallen behind in the vaccine race. The US is way ahead. They have done right down to 18 and are now doing children. AND they only leave 3 weeks between vaccinations so that people are fully vaccinated MUCH quicker than here.

It went off-course in April/May when the government were trying to do trade deals so sent almost a million vaccines to Australia - who have almost Covid and have their own vaccine manufacturing capacity. Brexit means we had to keep people on the other side of the world extra sweet, to the detriment of our under-50s. It put a massive delay on our vaccination programme and now we are paying the cost (by 'we' I mean the little people who had no say).

MattsHolidayTan · 08/06/2021 16:54
  • almost NO Covid, obviously

Plus proper border control and proper short local lockdowns when required

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 08/06/2021 16:55

They opened it up to all over 18s, that doesn’t mean all over 18s have been done. It’s a different approach and they have far more in the older and at risk groups who are completely unvaccinated compared to here. I’m not sure that counts as “winning”.

Other than demonstrating your inability to understand and accept the cut off rules why the point of this thread, why does it matter?

If you qualified for any vulnerability reasons you'd have been eligible already and the rest of us have managed to understand that they've been moving down in blocks which by their very nature need an end point. Who cares what that actually is with the speed they are getting through everyone

Always one who's not happy unless they are complaining

The US isn't way ahead according to worldometer

That says the US have fully vaccinated 42.6% of their population, the UK has done 41.9%. By any definition I'd say that's only slightly ahead

MRex · 08/06/2021 17:06

It's delightful that OP is so keen to be vaccinated. Shouldn't be more than two weeks maximum OP. Usually it opens the night before it's announced, so keep checking each evening regardless of the age listed on the page and when it lets you in, you're in.

Ratherbe67 · 08/06/2021 17:11

No I don’t work in an office I work in Tesco hence I’m keen to get the vaccine being as I’m seeing hundreds a day.

Biblionerd · 08/06/2021 17:22

Honestly @Ratherbe67, just accept you've made an error starting this thread and bow out gracefully. You're not 25, you're not in the vulnerable category and whilst it is frustrating being on the other side of a cut off line, that is just how it is. Your vaccine will come around very soon, just be patient a while longer. The foot stomping isn't winning you any fans!!

Jumpingintosummer · 08/06/2021 17:25

There has to be a cut off somewhere, on every occasion someone will have just made it or just missed out.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 08/06/2021 17:26

What date would YOU put the cutoff?

BelleBlueBell · 08/06/2021 17:26

@Ratherbe67

Have you just started working there or have you been complaining about not being every age since last December Grin

When 90 year olds were getting it did you feel at higher risk than today? Do you think you get more likely to catch it the nearer it gets to your age? Which would be funny as every day that passes more people have had both jabs so presumably you get less at risk from your customers as time goes on

Mumoftwoinprimary · 08/06/2021 17:28

This has been true for all July and August birthdays all the way through. (I’m an August birthday.) It moves quickly. In the end I got my jab before dh (who falls on the other side of the line) as we ended up booked in on the same day and I got an earlier appointment.

SoupDragon · 08/06/2021 17:29

I feel your pain OP, I so nearly got nearly all the right numbers for the big euro millions last week. You’d think they would make an exception for moi wouldn’t you..
KnottedFern · 08/06/2021 17:37

Oh god please stop replying! You're making yourself look more and more silly every time!

Agree it has always been this way and I think it brings out the issue of always been last in the school year so turning 16, 18, 21 last that you were always the last to get it and the vaccine is just another one of those. Its a summer birthday thing that now has many advantages but that one disadvantage
Biblionerd · 08/06/2021 17:41

@ArchbishopOfBanterbury

What date would YOU put the cutoff?
The day after she turns 25, obviously Wink
denverRegina · 08/06/2021 18:13

It's a computer system.

They give it a date and if your date of birth falls before that then computer says yes.

That's all it is. You're 24 and still will be on the computer cut off date, you're not "basically" anything.

You're not vulnerable to covid so just calm down a bit eh?
