Then will it keep mutating no matter what as possibly that’s what the program is meant to do?
I’m avoiding naming countries or finger pointing as that’s not the purpose of my question

The one thing we have to factor into all this is the power of paid trolls from China. There are said to be over 6 million paid commentators working for the CCP and many will be working around the clock to ridicule and play down the lab leak theory.
You simply cannot believe all you read on this issue, that's just the world we live in now. Look out for continued use of the same phrases being used to play down the lab leak theory - a sure sign bots are at work.

If you google "lab leak", all of the mainstream UK media are reporting that the theory is being taken seriously at the moment

All that proves is that the news media are for one reason or another following that angle, therefore what credibility does it actually give the theory ? Especially when cases or stories in the past, focus on x then after a while it turns out to be g ecf

@strangeshapedpotato

I often wonder if conspiracy theorists arise from children who never fitted in at school and spend the rest of their lives trying to be important as a result.
Bit harsh

Lots of children didn’t fit in at school, don’t fit in at school, or in the future won’t fit in at school. What that has to do with conspiracy theorists and feeling/being important I really don’t know

Hawkins001 · 30/05/2021 16:30

*conspiracy theories.

I'd say they happen because projects have to be kept secret, so cover stories are invented to cover up the project, then at times some people involved will reveal the project actually exists, then for national security or other reasons, that information needs to be discredited.

Hawkins001 · 30/05/2021 16:38

Besides, what about the little white lies we tell our partners or friends ? E.g. I did not curry favour with x they are just making that up, expand that to the political, scientific ect e.g. Development of the atomic projects, weather modification ect and you have conspiracy ?

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 30/05/2021 17:15

I try to stick to my position of never arguing with tankies but supermoonrising, shame on you! It's that kind of logic that led to bits of the left claiming Srebrenica was an imperialist lie, or denying the Cambodian genocide.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 30/05/2021 17:22

As for effective on the ground deradicalisation, the Chinese government see speaking the Uyghur language, practising Islam, even having beards and wearing veils to be a sign of "extremism"! I doubt people would be happy if the British government started sending all hijabis to a ~brainwashing camp~ deradicalisation facility on the offchance they're potential terrorists.
Anyway, I have no real opinion on the lab leak hypothesis but the fear of criticising the actions of a government because of a risk of hate crimes in the diaspora is utterly craven - I'm guessing that you wouldn't say we should stop speaking out on Palestine because some people use it as an excuse for antisemitism, so why now? Or does that logic only apply to governments you don't like?

would it be good for society if We had the Samaritan/machine , system from person of interest, to help protect society. ?
