Doesn't look like my 2nd vaccine is being brought forward

Due to have 2nd AZ dose early June. There was a lot of hype about bringing forward the 2nd dose from 12 weeks to 8 weeks.

Advice on NHS website was to wait to be contacted and not to cancel your existing appointment. Lots of people did anyway and got it brought forward.

I decided to wait and be contacted, and have heard nothing. And now there really is no point cancelling because it's close enough that I may not get an appointment any sooner anyway.

Annoyed!

Mine was not brought forward. 15 weeks between vaccinations. If you’ve got it booked at 12 week interval, I wouldn’t worry too much.

Mindymomo · 22/05/2021 18:14

I was due my second on 4 June, but went on website yesterday, cancelled it and rebooked it for this morning. It was at a big vaccination centre which was nearer than the original booking. I also went with my brother, who also did the same so we could go together.

Tulipomania · 22/05/2021 18:20

Has anyone actually been notified theirs is being brought forward?

I had mine today, 11 weeks and it wasn’t brought forward as so too soon after the announcement. My surgery has brought forward and contacted all the people going to second jab clinics who were originally due from June onwards though.

NothingIsWrong · 22/05/2021 18:26

Mine wasn't but I'm under 50 so I didn't think it was universal?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 22/05/2021 18:30

DH's was. I thought it was over 50s and CV having it brought forward. He is in the 50+ group.

EnjoyingTheArmoire · 22/05/2021 18:32

Mine hasn't been called. Due on 1st June (CV)

Crocky · 22/05/2021 18:33

I’m over 50 and haven’t been contacted so mine is still booked for 12 weeks.

LIZS · 22/05/2021 18:36

Mine came forward two weeks , to week 9. Text Wednesday available appointments Sunday onwards so not that far in advance.

LeafBeetle · 22/05/2021 18:45

I haven't been contacted about mine moving forwards - I am under 50 though.

MmeLaraque · 22/05/2021 18:47

I'm a carer, amongst other roles. I'm 50. My first was the 20th March. Husband was a couple of weeks later. He got a call yesterday, and his second jab is now tomorrow. My second isn't for another couple of weeks. No phone call for me yet. No idea what's going on with this system, but I know that we're not unique in our situation. So many carers not getting their second jab "brought forward", where others have either had second jab, or due in the next few days (instead of in a few weeks)

bigbluebus · 22/05/2021 18:49

I was due to have my 2nd one on 5th June. I got a phone call on Thursday which I ignored (private number). They left a message - it was NHS who said they'd cancelled my appointment and to ho online or ring 119 and rebook. I also got a text saying the same thing. I rebooked it for next Monday.

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 22/05/2021 18:52

I had my first on 21 March (as a group 6 carer, but was delayed due to allergy stuff) at a local hospital/GP led hub. I have just been called for second jab on Thursday, which will be just under 10 weeks, so a little early.

Veuvelily · 22/05/2021 18:52

They weren’t just automatically brought forward, it depends when it was exactly. If within 2 weeks or so I don’t think you were invited.
I got a text. I had to cancel and rebook, lots of availability.

Talcott2007 · 22/05/2021 18:53

Yes - my 2nd AZ vaccine was brought forward - was booked in for exactly 12 weeks later at the point of my 1st Vaccine while at the centre (which should have been 29th May) was sent an automated text to ask me to rebook via the link and had my 2nd on 8th May instead. So about 8weeks gap in the end

RedRiverShore · 22/05/2021 19:11

I have heard nothing but wasn't going to change mine anyway, it will be at 11 weeks on 8th June. I'm in the 60 - 65 age group.

canyon2000 · 22/05/2021 19:26

I am 48. I haven't been contacted about bringing my vaccine forward but I cancelled my appointment for my second vaccine and was able to book it for 2 weeks earlier on the website. Went from 6th July to 23rd June.

MmeLaraque · 22/05/2021 19:26

So people without caring comittments are getting second doses before carers.

No contact at all for me. I've been reading lots of messages from anxious carers wondering why "all these other people have second doses booked in the next few days, but we're all waiting for another 2-3 weeks?". Nothing I can to to reassure any of them, because I have no idea what's going on, either.

OKay, I do have an idea what's going on, and I really, really hope I'm wrong. Fucking Tories. They are atrocious.

"if within two weeks"

People *have been invited. Just not carers, as far as I can tell. Which is shit, for all sorts of reasons.

Fferny1 · 22/05/2021 20:24

I was contacted today to bring my vaccine forward to this Monday.
I tried last weekend to book an earlier appointment but the earliest date given was exactly the same as my original appointment. Whereas an earlier appointment was magically available today. I'm pretty keen to have it after my React test showed no active antibodies ( in spite of major side effects after the first jab.)

GrumpyTerrier · 22/05/2021 20:26

I cancelled mine and got a slot the next day, 9 weeks gap instead of 12.

Fitforforty · 22/05/2021 21:09

With a 6 week gap between the AZ vaccines you get 55% protection but that increases to 85% with a 12 week gap.

Willowwarble · 22/05/2021 21:16

54, have not heard anything so cancelled my original appointment this morning which was 12th June and got another one for tomorrow. I was anxious to get it done as my job normally involves visiting care homes and we will start to resume this in the next couple of weeks.

Aposterhasnoname · 22/05/2021 21:17

Got an email today. Cancelled the appointment I had for 6th June and booked for this Monday instead.

AfternoonToffee · 22/05/2021 21:20

DH (53) had a text in the week to book his second and it is booked for tomorrow. It means he will have had both of his in between my first and second. He didn't book through the NHS website but the GP portal.
