Doesn't look like my 2nd vaccine is being brought forward

Due to have 2nd AZ dose early June. There was a lot of hype about bringing forward the 2nd dose from 12 weeks to 8 weeks.

Advice on NHS website was to wait to be contacted and not to cancel your existing appointment. Lots of people did anyway and got it brought forward.

I decided to wait and be contacted, and have heard nothing. And now there really is no point cancelling because it's close enough that I may not get an appointment any sooner anyway.

Annoyed!

I've been called for my 2nd one 2 weeks early so it'll be 10 weeks between. I'm group 6.

Etulosba · 22/05/2021 21:28

Isn't the AZ vaccine supposed to be more effective with a 12 week gap?

Sweettea1 · 22/05/2021 21:33

If you have local vac hub that is doing AZ just pop over and ask if any spare they usually have. I have a few family members that have done this saves it going to waste.

HalzTangz · 22/05/2021 21:35

@Tulipomania

Has anyone actually been notified theirs is being brought forward?
I thought they were only be brought forward to those with other medical issues
WilyKitWilyKat · 22/05/2021 22:00

Mine is in early June and hasn’t been brought forward either. I just assumed that because it’s so soon they wouldn’t bother to change it and I’d just keep the same appointment.

99victoria · 22/05/2021 22:41

I'm 60, my second jab is booked for 2 weeks from now. I haven't been contacted about bringing it forward. Guess they must know how fit and healthy I am for my age :)

HazeyJaneII · 22/05/2021 22:43

DH (51) rang 119 tonight and has had his moved forward to tomorrow.

jackstini · 22/05/2021 22:49

DH got a text yesterday moving his from 23rd June to 2nd so yes it is happening where possible

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 22/05/2021 22:52

DH is 39 and had his first jab today. He was given an appointment for his second jab in eight weeks time.

I’m 37 and had my first jab earlier in the week. I was told I’d be contacted about my second appointment (we went to different vax centres) but it was likely to be in eight weeks not twelve. I said I thought second jabs were only being brought forward for vulnerable people and the nurse said it was looking like they’d be brought forward for everyone.

We both had Pfizer.

MrsBennetsnerves · 22/05/2021 23:00

No-one contacted me but my existing appointment is for this coming Tuesday, so not as far away as some. That will be 11 weeks from the first.

rosy71 · 22/05/2021 23:04

Mine was brought forward. I had it today, 2 weeks earlier than expected.

friendlycat · 22/05/2021 23:35

I haven’t been contacted neither has my partner but I just changed them on the nhs website. I could have gone today but had a conflicting medical appointment so booked next week (instead of 4th June) and brought my partner’s forward by 3 weeks.

BIL was contacted last week and got his last week.

BarbarianMum · 23/05/2021 00:50

Dh and I cancelled our second vaccination dates and rebooked them 2 weeks earlier. He's over 50 and I'm CV.

See, I'm confused by this too.
VanCleefArpels · 23/05/2021 08:04

You seriously do not need to wait to be contacted.

Go on to the booking website and choose “manage booking” - cancel your current appointment and rebook and if you are over 50 you will be offered a slot in the next few days

Tell all your friends/family, people don’t need to be passive in this!

Dumpypumpy · 23/05/2021 08:25

After seeing todays news about AZ I have just re arranged My second and booked it for tomorrow. I had initially wanted to wait 12 weeks to get the maximum boost but i live in an Indian variant hotspot so I think its a trade off

Lucidas · 23/05/2021 08:45

You may also be offered slots that are much further away. There’s definitely an element of risk involved.
RedRiverShore · 23/05/2021 08:47

I'm on holiday at the moment so won't rebook as I go away again mid June. I booked my original appointment as it was 11 weeks and convenient especially as I have to travel to my appointment.

Pushkinia · 23/05/2021 08:54

Mine is June 17, 12 weeks from the first. I had a lot of difficulty booking that one so I don’t want to risk cancelling and trying to rebook, especially since I have hospital treatment booked in a couple of weeks before and I’ve been told I should allow 2 weeks between treatment and vaccine. I might just make it worse by trying to rebook!

Tulipomania · 23/05/2021 08:56

Those of you who have been contacted, were you booked in through your GP or at a vaccination centre?

Mine is 10 days away, I really don't want to risk delaying it further but if I can get it done in the next couple of days that would be much better for me as have family visiting next weekend.

Wish I had gone against the advice on the NHS website and tried to rebook a week ago when it was first possible.

(it is Groups 1 to 9 whose 2nd jabs are being brought forward)

GP hub. However they weren't changing those already scheduled in May.

RedRiverShore · 23/05/2021 08:59

DH got his appointments through his GP, GP completely ignored me, probably because I am not a regular at doctors. I have to travel to large hub for mine and it was difficult getting appointments first time round, I don't want to end up going even further at an even less convenient time.

Etulosba · 23/05/2021 09:09

Luckily, I don't , so I'll wait the full 12 weeks even if I'm invited in earlier. I'm on week 10 now anyway so I don't really think it is likely.

Tribblers · 23/05/2021 09:53

I'm over 50 and had a 12 week gap, second one in for 5th June. Didn't receive any text or email, I cancelled last week and got one for a week's time (so 11 week rather than 12 week gap).

INeedANewSkeleton · 23/05/2021 10:44

I am 51, had second AZ yesterday. I was supposed to be next week which would be 12 weeks but I was not contacted, I rearranged it myself, I am 11 weeks but also live in a variant hotspot
