Yeah I’d have been in in the colonies too. You lot seem nice though for company

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 11/06/2021 14:15

Good point. I can't think of better company than women who have also been deemed too old to be of any importance or significance 😀

SheilaTakeABow · 11/06/2021 14:20

'The last few posts read as though people felt truly forced to be vaccinated and are now living with the fear of the possible side effects. In what world is this ok?'

Well, when you put it like that @Lostinacloud...

I can't believe we're now living in a society that is pressurising people to have a jab that terrifies them and that carries a very real risk. And those who protest are shamed and barred from full participation in life.

I love vaccines and modern medicine and all that. I am not a conspiracy theorist or anti-vaxxer or Covid-denier.

But I am reluctant to take this particular vaccine at this particular time as, as it stands, there is no way of knowing if it could harm me - and certainly more than the actual illness did.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/06/2021 14:24
@SirVixofVixHall that’s surely a disciplinary matter that you were jabbed before you’d had a chance to discuss it. Had you signed consent forms?
You know I have no idea, I don’t remember if I was asked to sign anything. I sat down and my GP swabbed my arm, then I started to say that I was very worried about the risk and before I got to the end of the sentence I was jabbed. I had been about to ask whether it would be possible to have Pfizer.

GentlemanJackie · 11/06/2021 14:26

I had to sign a form.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 11/06/2021 14:59

I didn't sign anything. I though I would but I didn't.

Grellbunt · 11/06/2021 15:07
@lostinacloud I agree the stats on reduction of transmission have never been very convincing. There was a big headline announcement at one point saying with the great news that transmission amongst vaccinated people is reduced by ‘up to 50%’ Hmm. Even 50% isn’t enough to warrant all this coercion.

I’ve got a feeling that natural immunity will turn out to be more useful than its being given any credit for. I was someone for whom AZ was a completely unacceptable risk due to having had a mild case of covid. I’be been in high risk environments (in an enclosed room 1-1 with 50+ different people a week, on buses, on tubes, in close contact with family members who had covid a few months after I did) and I never had a symptomatic infection again. Cases of second confirmed infections being worse than the first are ‘vanishingly’ rare to steal a popular phrase and yet this isn’t acknowledged when people discuss their own risk/ benefit profiles.
On the contrary- all HCPs muttered darkly about how I "might get it again and worse this time...."

GentlemanJackie · 11/06/2021 15:14

@Grellbunt yes there’s a lot of dark muttering isn’t there but no actual stats? Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong.

Cookiesandscones · 11/06/2021 15:56

@Rainbowsandstorms hi sorry I just logged on today, I am feeling ok, yesterday was the only day I let my guard down a bit and my anxiety still crept up in the form of palpitations which scared the actual life out of me but I think it was just the anxiety was saying don’t relax I am still here type of thing. I actually feel well within myself I am just aching from being tense all the time waiting for something to happen. day number 7 after 2nd dose headaches still every day but not sure if that’s just my normal headaches or jab side effects.

I haven’t seen the latest report myself I will have a look at it soon, when you have anxiety it’s not just the jab it’s the waiting to be out the danger zone

DatingDickheads · 11/06/2021 18:11

I’m 9 days post AZ. Mid 40s. I took it. I didn’t want it but they wouldn’t give me Pfizer even though I asked and they had it. Now I’m in the dreaded wait time! No one I know gives a shit, they think I should be grateful to get a vaccine! Wtf is happening to us!

Rainbowsandstorms · 11/06/2021 18:21

@Cookiesandscones glad you’re doing ok and feeling ok. The wait is horrible isn’t it.

I’m just at the doctors after finding a small purple mark under my skin on my arm that’s definitely not a bruise I also have a bigger one on a knee that I don’t remember knocking and isn’t sore. Being referred for urgent bloods at hospital now. I’m 12 weeks post first dose so hoping it’s nothing to worry about. I only called because my second is booked on Sunday and I thought I ought to double check.

Schulte · 11/06/2021 19:24

I feel so angry about what some of you are having to go through. It’s an appalling situation, it’s so wrong and sweet FA is being done about it. Wondering if it’s worth contacting a newspaper and suggesting they look into how women are being essentially forced to have AZ?

SirVixofVixHall · 11/06/2021 19:41

That must be stressful Rainbows I hope all is ok.

somewheresorted · 11/06/2021 19:44

I see Italy has now stopped the AZ vaccine use for the under 60’s, with the advice that people who have received the first dose of AZ should be given a different vaccine for the 2nd.

Why are our Government not giving us this choice!

SirVixofVixHall · 11/06/2021 19:49

I would have really liked to have the choice of a different vaccine.

SheilaTakeABow · 11/06/2021 19:56

Hope you're OK @Rainbowsandstorms and glad you're being seen and taken seriously Flowers

Rainbowsandstorms · 11/06/2021 19:59

Thank you @SheilaTakeABow and @SirVixofVixHall I was surprised at how seriously it was taken it’s a tiny mark and I wasn’t that concerned. They’ve sent me to the acute medical assessment unit so one by passed A and E which is a huge relief. Just waiting to be seen and have my bloods taken.

Bubalie · 11/06/2021 20:02

@Rainbowsandstorms I hope you are ok Flowers

Grellbunt · 11/06/2021 20:07

Yes hope all is ok

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 11/06/2021 20:15

DatingDickheads I think we all understand your feelings. No one in my life understood my worries either, they'd just always shoot back with "you've got more chance of a blood clot with covid" or "so-and-so had AZ and they were fine" 🙄 I could say the same about covid. I know at least four people who had it who were fine. All the ridiculous anecdotes work both ways.

It really doesn't seem fair that women over 40 are being forced into having a vaccination they don't want. I'd it's so important that were all vaccinated, surely givingn us a choice is the best way to achieve that aim? I would have walked away unvaccinated today if the only option was AZ. How is that good for anyone? It just proves they don't want us to get vaccinated because they actually care about our health, so what is it?

I'm also nervous about the push to vaccinate 12-16 year olds.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 11/06/2021 21:19

I am very nervous about the push to vaccinate 12-16 year olds too. It's all the bloody propaganda all the time. I'm in Scotland and last nights news report was 4 teenagers under 16 all saying they were delighted to get the vaccine because it was about protecting people. I couldn't help thinking of the Stepford wives

Terzani · 11/06/2021 21:43

(sorry, I just noticed that I posted it on another thread by mistake):

ICanSmellSummerComing · 11/06/2021 21:50

I'm nealry 11 hours into my second jab, feeling v tired and also starting to feel a bit shivery.
I'm absolutely terrified to be honest.

ICanSmellSummerComing · 11/06/2021 21:52
 • I did an anti body test this am, someone started a thread on it and I was allowed to do it. My finger still hurts a bit, but it wasn't hard to get blood out. . I can just imagine headlines, woman who died of clot did anti body test and had anti bodies that same day.
ICanSmellSummerComing · 11/06/2021 21:53
 • how long is the danger zone
