New thread as the MRHA report is out today.

Note this is not an anti vaccination thread.

I am eight days post second vaccination and trying to stay calm. It is stressful though. I am still knocked out by it and not back to normal.

Rainbowsandstorms · 10/06/2021 22:19

@Bubalie and @SirVixofVixHall just come across this tweet which is fairly reassuring as it shows it tracking at the same rate for second doses. Sorry you’re feeling wiped out sirvix how were you after your first?

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2021 22:23

Rough after my first, fluey for a week and then another week feeling not quite right. This time I was worse the next day, and I have been much more tired, I really could hardly get out of bed the day after and I still feel like i’m wading through mud.

Rainbowsandstorms · 10/06/2021 22:26

@SirVixofVixHall I hope you feel better soon. My first dose effects were tiredness and loss of appetite for a couple of weeks but none of the more intense short lived ones. Most people seem to have been better with the second.

Funfortheroad · 10/06/2021 22:26

@Rainbowsandstorms

It’s been updated, finally! Can’t decide what to make of it re second doses. Those who have been following the situation re second doses what are your thoughts? Do you think it’ll be like the first doses where the numbers just go up and up. I’m so unsure whether to go ahead with my second dose. I felt more reassured after last week’s report.
I am the same. I don't like that it's gone up again.
Funfortheroad · 10/06/2021 22:26

(My second dose is cancelled for now. I think I probably won't reschedule.)

Maia77 · 10/06/2021 22:54

The highest incidence of thrombo-embolic events is in the 40-49 age group and they still don't want to offer us an alternative vaccine. It boggles the mind.

Rainbowsandstorms · 10/06/2021 22:54

Sorry I forgot to add the tweet to my post re cases tracking at a steady rate for second doses. Here it is.

I’m torn I had a big panic and cry after reading this week’s report however I feel slightly more reassured after reading some of Prof Markis’ views and seeing the above chart too. I’ve been hugely worried about covid and am still very limited in what I’m doing and the rise in cases is making me worry. It’s so difficult to know what to do.
Rainbowsandstorms · 10/06/2021 22:58

@Maia77 it’s madness isn’t it. Have you had yours?

Maia77 · 10/06/2021 23:14

@Rainbowsandstorms total madness. I have booked my first vaccine twice and cancelled twice. I will wait a bit longer.
Most other countries vaccinate ppl under 50 or 55 with Pfizer. I suppose we have loads of AZ vaccines and they have to be used up.

Rainbowsandstorms · 10/06/2021 23:27

@Maia77 have you turned up to any of the centres. If you rock that you may be pregnant when booking it’ll show you sites that are offering alternatives. Given the latest report I’d consider a call to your GP too as it’s clear if you’ve not had AZ now you’re not going to.

Maia77 · 10/06/2021 23:38

@Rainbowsandstorms I haven't turned up at the centre as I knew they were only using AZ
Thanks for the tip. I'll think about it.
Have no confidence in GP being understanding. A friend has had headaches for 4 weeks after her first AZ jab and a massive bruise that appeared overnight and because blood tests came back ok she's still encouraged to have the second jab. They're useless and clueless with regards to vaccines and side-effects.

Have you had your vaccines?

And in Australia the second confirmed death after TTS is of a 52-year-old woman. The first woman dead after AZ was 48.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 11/06/2021 07:06

I'm new to this thread but just reading through now because I have my first dose booked for this morning after delaying for a while (I'm 43). I'm terrified of having AZ (but I've also read some worrying things about Pfizer now too 🤦). Anyway, I checked the 'could be pregnant' box so I don't know whether they'll give me Pfizer or still try to push AZ on me. I'm not pregnant and don't intend to be and I didn't like lying but there's so much pressure to vaccinate and hate for those concerned about it (Richard bloody Madeley on GMTV last week suggesting that unvaccinated people shouldn't be treated on the NHS if they catch covid for example. FFS) why the hell aren't they giving people who are genuinely worried a choice? If it's AZ or unvaccinated, surely better to give them something else?

I'm so so scared about my appointment today. People around me just don't understand because most of them merrily skipped off for the vaccination as soon as they were called.

Jabbinell · 11/06/2021 07:28

@Leaveitonthefloordrobe
I’m in the exact same boat.
Been following this threat since day dot (thanks everyone for your input). Had 1st dose before the clot news. Cancelled once already, have an appointment this morning. Couldn't sleep at all.
My anxiety is awful! Mhra publishing so late doesn't help matters.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 11/06/2021 07:38

Sonia it AZ you're having, Jabbinell?

I'm just so angry that our fears and anxieties are being swept aside. I've never known pressure like this before. I hope all goes well for you today Flowers

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 11/06/2021 07:38

So is it turned into Sonia Grin

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 11/06/2021 07:41

I also imagine I'll turn up, they'll look me up and down and will be like "so you could be pregnant? Really??" Confused And knowing me I'll burst into tears and admit I only said that because I'm terrified of AZ.

Jabbinell · 11/06/2021 08:13

Yes AZ. Not sure what to do

Grellbunt · 11/06/2021 08:14

The pregnancy thing is interesting. In Scotland the question seems to be asked v late on in the process ie immediately beforehand, if at all. Also, what if you have had AZ then fall pregnant before your second dose? All this should be made much clearer. Can't help thinking women are being treated very badly.

Grellbunt · 11/06/2021 08:14

Drop ins this weekend in our area for over 40s but specifically saying stocking only AZ. I'm getting increasingly angry.

Say you can't guarantee you won't be by the second dose (or at the moment if it's your second but I appreciate that is trickier!)
Jabbinell · 11/06/2021 08:22

Its so annoying re 2nd dose. I’m 41 and would happily lie in bed ill for two days or so with Mod or Pfizer 2nd dose but being on high alert for a month, can I do it again is the question…

A friend is preg and had 2nd dose of AZ last month, no side effects. But unlike me she doesn't have health anxiety!

That's against RCOG recommendations though - she should have got a different vaccine
