Anyone with no vaccination side effects

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 06/05/2021 00:18

I'm booked in to have my first vaccination on Friday (no idea which yet). I get the flu vaccine every year through work and I've never given it a second thought, but I'm irrationally panicking about the Covid one. I think it's mainly around the horrible side effects, and although I know they are usually 24-48 hours and the alternative (Covid itself) would likely be far worse, I can't seem to calm my anxiety.

Is there anyone out there who had few effects (a sore arm I wouldn't worry about!) - I think hearing about all the people who spent 2 days in bed with what felt like the flu is causing me to be anxious. I can't really explain it, it's not like me at all - but I could really do with hearing some positive stories to give me hope that I could be one of the lucky ones!

Had my first pfizer jab. Slightly sore area on arm around the injection site but otherwise Zero, I repeat Zero side effects 😄

We only ever hear about the side effects people.... LOADS don't get them.

MRex · 06/05/2021 20:57

Update that DH got side effects after all. He described it as like a bad hangover, specifically 5 pints and 3 shots of whisky plus a drunk mate punching your arm too enthusiastically. He's now feeling better, approaching 30 hours post vax.

moirarosebabay · 06/05/2021 21:02

I had the first Pfizer yesterday and slightly sore arm is all I had. Not that sore though-I've done everything I normally do today like a 10k run and a days work. If it wasn't for the fact I know I've had the jab then I would just think I'd slept awkwardly. I'm not sure where you are but where I am in Scotland they were doing a lot of my local area so was able to go with a friend as her appointment was near to mine so she drove and I got to sit with her. The staff were so nice. I was worried but jab itself wasn't that sore and I didn't feel faint or anything despite the fact that I'd really built it up in my head to be scary.

No side effects for me from AZ first dose. No sore arm or anything . Awaiting second dose.

BadEyeBri · 06/05/2021 21:19

I've had both my AZ vaccines and apart from some discomfort at the injection site, I've not had any other reactions

worriedatthemoment · 06/05/2021 22:07

I have had one az vaccination and no side effects , just a little sore arm for few hrs and was little itchy for couple hrs a day after and that was it

TheDaydreamBelievers · 06/05/2021 22:14

I had AZ and genuinely nothing. Not even a sore arm (31yr old woman)

StressMagnet · 06/05/2021 22:14

My husband had zero side effects. His arm didnt even hurt and he said he didnt feel the injection either.

I had mild then weird side effects but I did have mild ccovid two months before my jab.

Lots of people feel fine. But like your first flu shot, a lot of people have side effects. The good news is the vast majority of side effects pass within a day.

On the other hand after a very mild case if covid (I have had worse cold than I had covid symtons) I dont know if my taste or smell will ever fully come back five months later. That's a shitty side effect.

Definitely get some pain killers in in case you feel feverish, but honestly I went to bed the day after my vaccine with two paracetamol and woke up fine. That's true for most people. The weird side effects seem rare. No one I personally know had the later weird side effects like me. Possibly as I say, because I recently had covid

Crazzzycat · 06/05/2021 22:30

I had no negative side effects at all. In fact, I felt unusually energetic for days afterwards and had the best nights sleep I’ve had in years. So only positive side effects for me

HappyWinter · 06/05/2021 23:22

I had AstraZeneca earlier this week, only side effects so far are tiredness and slightly sore arm.

Sarcobaleno · 06/05/2021 23:25

I had AZ. My arm was a wee bit sore but other than that nothing.

Stoptalkingtome · 06/05/2021 23:39

Me, got it a week ago. Have only had a sore arm. No other effects. (touch wood and all that).

Stoptalkingtome · 06/05/2021 23:39

^I had AZ too.

Stoptalkingtome · 06/05/2021 23:41

Oh, and my period was as normal as ever. Which is something of a shame as I wouldn't have minded skipping one of the bastards.

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 08/05/2021 00:58

Well it turned out to be the AZ one - 15 hours later and not even a sore arm, looks like I was panicking over nothing Grin

Husband and I both jabbed recently 42. No side effects for me at all, not even a sore arm. Husband had mild headache and literally had to lie down for 1hr then fine; that evening he felt more tired than usual and just went to bed early. Woke up next day feeling entirely normal.

Sh05 · 08/05/2021 01:05

My DH hads had both doses, zero side effects and he's the kind of person who takes to his bed at the sign of a cold!

alphajuliet123 · 08/05/2021 02:56

AZ here, very mild side effects. I only know a couple of people who’ve really suffered with it (out of maybe 30)

My friend with the worst side effects had Moderna - a few days in bed sweating and shivering, so bad she says she might not get her second dose.

weegiepower · 08/05/2021 03:06

I had a Pfizer one and didn't have any immediate side effects. I had an off stomach in the weeks following but don't know if it was down to the vaccine or something else! Nothing really bad though

booksandwool · 13/05/2021 18:27

Thank you so much for this thread - I'm hoping to be in the "minimal side effects" club.

Stuffin · 13/05/2021 18:30

AZ no side effects, not even a sore arm beyond the initial needle pain.

RomainingCalm · 13/05/2021 18:34

AZ here and no side effects, not even a sore arm.

DH commented that I was grumpy but pretty certain that was just 'business as usual' and not the vaccine! 😊

AgeLikeWine · 13/05/2021 18:34

I had AZ, and all I had was a slightly sore arm for a few days.

GeorgeandHarold66 · 13/05/2021 18:39

Both Oxford vaccines here, first one slightly sore arm but not painful enough to need painkillers ever.
Second vaccine, absolutely zero side effects.

GeorgeandHarold66 · 13/05/2021 18:41

My family all had the Pfizer and no side effects there either all were completely fine
