Anyone with no vaccination side effects

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 06/05/2021 00:18

I'm booked in to have my first vaccination on Friday (no idea which yet). I get the flu vaccine every year through work and I've never given it a second thought, but I'm irrationally panicking about the Covid one. I think it's mainly around the horrible side effects, and although I know they are usually 24-48 hours and the alternative (Covid itself) would likely be far worse, I can't seem to calm my anxiety.

Is there anyone out there who had few effects (a sore arm I wouldn't worry about!) - I think hearing about all the people who spent 2 days in bed with what felt like the flu is causing me to be anxious. I can't really explain it, it's not like me at all - but I could really do with hearing some positive stories to give me hope that I could be one of the lucky ones!

slightly sore arm, same as any jab

nothing else! i'm 52 and had the AZ

no tiredness....nothing

RaininSummer · 06/05/2021 07:56

No side effects at all from AZ one other than slightly sore arm.

gamerchick · 06/05/2021 08:00

I didn't have any side effects.

I had a common immune response for 24 hours but nothing to write home about.

Good luck.

WireFan · 06/05/2021 14:25

Sore arm for a couple of days and v mild tiredness beyond the norm which lasted about half a day. That's all. That was my first AZ dose.

spiderlight · 06/05/2021 14:30

I had Pfizer. Very slightly sore arm, and I felt as if I might be getting a cold for a couple of hours the following afternoon. That was it. I was pretty worried because I'm basically a walking autoimmune disease but it was a complete non-event for me. DH had AZ and he was the same - slightly sore arm but nothing else worth mentioning. Neither of us needed so much as a paracetamol.

Orgasmagorical · 06/05/2021 14:32

I've had the AZ first dose and took two paracetamol before bed and didn't even have a sore arm, which I usually have with the flu vaccine. A nurse I know has been recommending people take the paracetamol before bed (if it's a drug that suits them, obviously) to prevent/reduce side effects.

Hope you get on okay, OP Smile

I had no side effects at all from the AZ. Not even a sore arm.

It's true you usually only hear about the bad experiences. 'Nothing happened' doesn't make for much of an anecdote.

EmmaGellerGreen · 06/05/2021 14:37

Had my second Pfizer vaccine last night. But of a sore arm but ran 10 miles this morning so all good. Don’t believe all the horror stories....

Whoateallthechocolate · 06/05/2021 14:38

I had AZ on Tues lunchtime. Felt fine until late afternoon on Weds when I began to feel more tired than usual and spent the evening sat on the sofa. I have had a very lazy day today. But I am also due my period which wiped me out and I had a busy weekend. So I'm blaming it in the vaccine but I'm not sure if it is due to the vaccine. Also, if I'd been working today, I have a feeling I would have felt under the weather but able to push on through.

ItsOnLikeDonkeyKong · 06/05/2021 14:39

Had 2 Pfizer's. No side effects apart from a sore arm.

Busygoingblah · 06/05/2021 14:58

2 jabs of Pfizer here. Zero side effects from jab one and a poor night’s sleep after jab two that could have been coincidental.

I usually get side effects like swelling, itchyness, fatigue and headaches from the flu jab so I was surprised that covid didn’t effect me in the same way

movingquandry · 06/05/2021 15:04

Me. Pfizer.

PickleSarnie · 06/05/2021 15:06

Neither me nor my husband had a single side effect whatsoever - we both had the AZ. Didn't even feel the jab going in - was like nothing had even happened!

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 06/05/2021 15:30

Well this has made me happy - thanks again 😁

Me - 2 Pfizer - sore arm for a day - no worse than the flu jab.

DH - Oxford - nothing

DD - Oxford - nothing

Shelby10 · 06/05/2021 16:05

I just felt a bit tired the day after. Otherwise fine. Had AZ

Lilmzsnowflake · 06/05/2021 16:14

None of the people I know have had any problems.
I’ve had both mine - AZ - nothing beyond a sore arm for a day.
Parents and in laws - Pfizer - nothing.
DH - AZ - nothing
Over 10 of my colleagues all have had both AZ doses now (healthcare workers) - all fine.
My friends are now gradually getting called for their first jab and all are fine.
Of course there will be side effects for some people but they are far less common than seems to be suggested if you pay attention to social media and reports online.

theresnoonequitelikegrandma · 06/05/2021 16:22

My DH and I had our second Pfizer this morning and not a side effect between us! I had a sore arm and he had a bit of a headache after the first one but this time - nothing! 😀

JimBobNoJob · 06/05/2021 17:06

Parents had both Pfizer and other than a mildly sore arm, nothing.

Has everyone here that's experienced minimal side effects also not experienced any changes to their monthly cycle? Lots of women are reporting that they've missed periods by 1 to 2+ months and when they've got them they've been super painful and heavy. But the nature of those I threads are asking people to comment who have had missed periods. I'm wondering how many have experienced normal periods. I'm really torn what to do and very anxious

EmmaGellerGreen · 06/05/2021 18:06

@WineGetsMeThroughIt No. A friend is a nurse who hats administered hundreds of second doses and she’s never heard of this side effect.

justsaymaybe · 06/05/2021 18:09

I had AZ in mid-march and my periods have been different BUT I was ill during February with Epstein-Barr virus and it may have been related to that rather than the jab.

hummummy · 06/05/2021 19:21

My husband and I both had ours about 6 weeks ago (AZ). No side effects at all, not even a sore arm.
