Who’s felt like shit after the vaccine?

I’ve got mine next week and all I keep hearing is how awful people have felt after getting it. I really can’t afford to be ill or take time off at the moment. It’s actually making me want to cancel. Tell me it’s not that bad!

Had mine on Sunday. Feel fine.

Theonlyoneiknow · 04/05/2021 17:43

DH (age 52) had AZ first dose - felt no different, whereas others I know who had AZ felt flu like, shivers etc for a couple of days afterwards.

I had Pfizer, 1st dose - just a sore arm.

VaVaGloom · 04/05/2021 17:45

Its not that bad @RUOKHon

AZ - have had much worse hangovers/colds - just lethargic. Relieved as DH and friends have had more side effects.

I had AZ on Thursday and felt fine. Felt slightly like I was coming down with a cold on Friday night but back to normal when I woke up on Saturday.

Dancingbea · 04/05/2021 17:52

45, had AZ Friday, felt fine.

IPokeBadgers · 04/05/2021 17:54

42 years old, had the AZ jab and it knocked me on my arse for better part of a weekend.... Got it Friday morning 9am,by Friday evening had the shivers and beginning of aches and pains, so took 2 paracetamol and crawled into bed at 9.30pm. Felt yuck but it was manageable. Slept well, got up Saturday morning, still achey, arm painful and was quite spaced out. Had to go back to bed at 12.30pm and was out cold for 4 hours .... I never sleep during the day!!! 🙈😳
By Sunday, I was just v tired with a sore arm... And the tiredness continued for another couple of days and I had a migraine about 4 days after the jab... Which may or may not be related, but I hadn't had one for a few months.
But overall, rather that than risk Covid and complications...and hopefully this is all getting us to a better place where we can have a bit more normality.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/05/2021 17:56

I had AZ, felt pants for 24 hours but was able to work (from home)

Second jab I had no issues at all.

I'd rather feel shit for 24 hours than have Covid

Blueskytoday06 · 04/05/2021 17:56

I had it Saturday @ 1pm and bar a numb arm that arrived 10 minutes after, I've been fine. I slept really well in the evening. Like you I listened to how horrendous it was so was expecting to feel crap. You just don't know till it's done.

StrugglingWFH · 04/05/2021 17:57

I had the AZ one 2 weeks ago and had a very sore arm and about 24 hours after had flu like symptoms which were a walk in the park compared to when I had COVID. Don't cancel it, you will be fine.

Sebw · 04/05/2021 18:06

Had Moderna. Just had a mildly sore arm to touch for two days. No other symptoms

Sebw · 04/05/2021 18:07

Should have said DH had AZ. He had aching joints, a cough and a runny nose for 24 hours. Then fine

BigusBumus · 04/05/2021 18:13

Painful arm I couldn't lift up properly for 48 hours, but that's it.

I had the Moderna.

Pinkpaisley · 04/05/2021 18:17

After my first Pfizer shot I felt sort of racy and light-headed. Not too bad. After my second, I couldn’t barely manage to open my eyes for 3 days. I just slept and slept and slept. When I did wake there was pretty bad pain from the lymph node swelling, but I was awake so briefly it didn’t matter.

No regrets about getting the vaccine. My DH is actually jealous of my strong reaction. It was really obvious my lymph nodes went into overdrive whereas he is worried about how little reaction he had.

SnottyLottie · 04/05/2021 18:30

I had the first Pfizer in January and the second in March.

With the first one I initially felt very spaced out for about half a day after receiving it. I had a really sore arm and couldn’t lift things the next day and it was very tender for about 5 days after. And about a week later I was extremely tired for no obvious reason, which my work colleagues (NHS) said was most likely a side effect of the vaccine. It lasted for about 3 days, where I was almost bed bound by sheer exhaustion and slept for about 12 hours straight. I really struggled walking long distances and nearly cried having to do the school run so DH intervened.

The second one, I had a slightly sore arm (no where near as bad as the first time) and maybe one day of feeling slightly tired (but i was still able to continue on with my daily routine).

Aria999 · 04/05/2021 20:48

Moderna

1st shot absolutely fine

2nd shot, about 24 hours extreme tiredness (went to bed at 8:30pm, had a fever all night, was functional but tired the next day). Arm swelled up badly and there were a few hours where I couldn't really lift 24lb dd.

All good now though. Covid would likely be worse!

BelleBlueBell · 04/05/2021 20:52

No one can tell you how you'll feel and your reaction has nothing to do with anyone elses. I can't see how hearing how other people got on will help you in any way.

I'd imagine that by now everyone knows someone who has had each different level of side effects or none at all.

Surely best to plan for the worst and you can only be pleasantly surprised.

MaxNormal · 04/05/2021 21:08

Frequentflier there are plenty in India who don't want the vaccine either.

tulippa · 04/05/2021 21:10

Had AZ Saturday afternoon. Felt extremely cold at about 10pm - teeth chattering and shivering - and then felt like I was tripping when getting ready for bed. Like I was completely off my face.
Quite tired the next day with a sore arm but that lifted early evening and have been fine since then. So not too bad really but was glad I unintentionally scheduled it over a wet Bank Holiday weekend when I had nothing to do.
DH had his at the same time and still feels a bit fluey now.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 04/05/2021 21:13

Yes I felt rubbish for about 3 days and maybe you will too but it wasn't debilitating, I didn't take time off work and still managed the school run . Had very early nights though!

QueenPaw · 04/05/2021 21:13

Was rough for 24hrs. To be honest it was similar side effects to the injections I have weekly anyway so I wasn't too fussed by it! Just had a lazy rag

Glitterblue · 04/05/2021 21:15

I had the AZ on the Thursday morning, 12 hours later the shivers started then sweats then the headache from hell. I didn't feel any better at all until the Saturday afternoon and it was almost a week before I got my full energy back.

My DH and PIL, on the other hand, all had the AZ as well and were completely fine. SiL felt slightly rough for a few hours but not bad enough to need to lie down and my friend was completely fine.

ForThePurposeOfTheTape · 04/05/2021 21:16

I had AZ on Saturday. Spent the night with fever and chills, Sunday feeling like I had a cold and only a bruised arm feeling from Sunday night.

Quornflakegirl · 04/05/2021 21:19

I felt rough after mine last week. I was exhausted and slept for 16 hours the day after and the headache was terrible, it lasted 4 days and I felt quite fed up by day 4. A week later and I still have a big plum sized lump on my arm.

FinnegansWhiskers · 04/05/2021 21:19

After my first AZ jab I had Covid symptoms that lasted a day (massive headache and feeling very drained). I have had my second jab today and the nurse said that if you had symptoms after the first you won’t get symptoms after the second. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
