Why is the AZ vaccine no longer being offered to under 30s?

Just wondering if I need to be concerned... I potentially have an AZ vaccine tomorrow and I’m 32, so not much older! Does anyone know please?

@DenisetheMenace why are women telling other women that they are not allowed to discuss their concerns on MN but instead should go to their MP? There is a thread on here about women having menstrual changes after the AZ and they were receiving the same reaction too. My concern is for women over 30 who do not want to receive AZ. I didn't realise I needed your permission to discuss that.“

You don’t but if as you claim you simply want to know why the cut off is 30 to facilitate your own decision making, why do you imagine that someone on Mumsnet can tell you with complete authority.
Your MP or the department of health can.
And why the “Russian roulette” nonsense? If that’s not scaremongering I don’t know what is.

A single period comes early or late? Does it actually mean anything serious? if you’re not trying to conceive? Or relying on a regular cycle for natural family planning?

Sorry, not aimed at any poster in particular.

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind I quite agree. Awareness of symptoms is very important as with any medication (although I have to say I rarely read the side effects leaflet of any medication as they are generally terrifying!).

I really hope the roll out doesn't slow down due to declined vaccines. I also feel for AZ, whose name has been dragged through the mud when they are doing this at cost.

Ireland had a grand total of 371,054 fully vaccinated

You have finally posted something factual having researched it. Well done.

Would you rather be outside of European and have one of the highest death rates too? 40 mins on a plane will have you in the land of of honey. Off you go.......

Trust me, we’re thinking about it. Wink.

I’ve never once said the U.K’s handling of the early pandemic was anything but abysmal. However the tables have truly turned now and their vaccine rollout has been very impressive. We, on the other hand, have totally floundered.

What have I said that’s not been factual. We ARE still vaxxing over 70s. My MIL only got her first dose last week. Are you denying this is happening?

@anyoldtime you just sound utterly ridiculous and quite frankly anti-UK now, as if Brexit is important in this (although seemingly has allowed the UK more freedom in procuring vaccines). The UK's handling at the beginning was poor. But our excellent vaccination programme may mean that our death rate ends up being similar to comparable countries, and is allowing us to get our lives back at the same time.

anyoldtime · 23/04/2021 20:09

That is your opinion. I certainly don't think injecting people with AZ is impressive. Nor do millions of other people in many many more countries.
Your endless criticism of Ireland and the Irish Government is tiresome. Surely you don't have to think too long and hard about a move to Utopia.

Of course you will never make the move and in the slim to no chance of you moving, you would redirect your moaning to new issues in the UK.

If you think I’m breaking talk guidelines, feel free to report.

Otherwise I am free to post what I like, regardless of your reaction. HTH.

ApeJane

Basically, if you are a woman who still menstruates and have concerns about the AZ vaccine just shut the fuck up or you'll be labelled one of the above. Got it.“

If those are your concerns you would be best consulting your GP rather than Mumsnet.

I have had serious illness. I consulted a specialist, not a website.

I agree with you. Not very good at bolding PPs’ quotes.
