Is anyone else feeling scared?

I do - more so today not sure why
I’m scared of the Brazil Variant affecting the young
Afraid of getting the vaccine - what more will be found
Obviously not taking is not the smartest option - so afraid everyday I’ve not had it is a risk
Afraid to go back to work in the office

I just feel so tired and teary all the time

OP posts:
RedcurrantPuff · 08/04/2021 18:16

No, I’m past giving a shit about the whole thing. Cant wait for things to open back up. Don’t give a monkeys about new variants as I think this is all over egged to keep us compliant.

I’m really pissed off since finding out that fully vaccinated people in the US can meet up and also don’t have to isolate as contacts (but they do if they have symptoms) so are getting the benefits of vaccines whilst we are treated like toddlers.

RedcurrantPuff · 08/04/2021 18:18

Hugs though OP as I’ve had my own moments too x

bishbashbosh99 · 08/04/2021 18:18

Nope. And I'm a bit of a dweeb but am feeling excited about what's ahead

MarshaBradyo · 08/04/2021 18:18

Not scared but frustrated with general narrative that undermines us getting out of this

reprehensibleme · 08/04/2021 18:20

Not scared but really worried about the number of people who are saying they don't want the vaccine now. It's really the only way we're going to get out of this mess in the foreseeable and the economy can't take much more lockdown.

MapleMay11 · 08/04/2021 18:22

I'm not scared at all but I find the situation in Brazil heartbreaking. Of course there will be new variants but we'll deal with those when the time comes.

HazeyJaneII · 08/04/2021 18:25

Not scared as such , but very tired and unsettled.
The only worry I have is ds going back to school after a year of shielding, and the fact that with the trials for a paediatric vaccine paused, it may be an even longer wait for the vaccine....ok I guess I am pretty scared about that.

sunnydaleslayer · 08/04/2021 18:30

I'm scared that life will never go back to normal thanks to government scaremongering and people so eager to fall into line.

Not because of the virus.

BG2015 · 08/04/2021 18:30

Feeling great here! I've been vaccinated since October as part of the Novavax trial!

Met my friend for a walk on Monday, saw my parents and 2 sons in the garden over the weekend.

Hair and nails being done next week. Hopefully will book an air bnb for May/June in the Lakes for a long weekend. Booked to see Fat Boy Slim in November.

Life is going on! I can't wait!

MarshaBradyo · 08/04/2021 18:32

@sunnydaleslayer

Not because of the virus.

Similar but opposite

Hoping that scaremongering on SM won’t undermine the way out of this.

SpnBaby1967 · 08/04/2021 18:33

The only thing that scares me is the government keeping us on this nonsense merry-go-round because of a virus that 99.9% will be fine with & for most it's no worse than a bog standard cold virus

Smartiepants79 · 08/04/2021 18:40

No, can’t say I’ve ever been ‘scared’ of COVID or vaccines that have been through the usual (if speeded up) regulatory process.
I’m hopeful of a slow return to a fairly normal life with trips and family and meals out.
Life is inherently full of risks.
COVID propaganda has really done a number on so many.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 08/04/2021 18:47

I agree with this. It's been the scariest thing throughout this whole shit show.
Welliesandpyjamas · 08/04/2021 18:48

@SmidgenofaPigeon

I’ve never been scared but I think the fact that I’ve never been able to stay at home and have had to go into work via public transport throughout has helped keep it in perspective to be honest. Can’t wait for things to open up, I’m sick of living to work with no fun or freedoms involved.
I agree. I have been in normal work since last June, DH has been working in key worker groups and then early years class throughout, and our DC have been in school. Apart from masks in shops, no social life (so no real change there!), and no close contact with colleagues, we're not really aware of covid and all the fuss. Life is sort if the same and we don't fear the virus - none of us have caught it despite increased exposure, and the whole world knows so much more about the risks of catching it now. I have kidney disease (but not severe enough for the jab) so potentially covid could potentially leave my kidneys in a worse condition but the chances of me dying if it are still low. OP, I'm sure once you return to 'normal' routines you'll probably start to relax and feel leas scared. Being enclosed at home with so much focus on the news is not healthy in the long run. Look forward with positivity to returning to work 😊😊 it'll be fine!
Ephe17 · 08/04/2021 18:50

No not scared of the virus.

Government overreach are a great cause for concern though.

RaspberryCoulis · 08/04/2021 18:52

Nope. Not scared in the slightest.

actiongirl1978 · 08/04/2021 18:54

Feel v positive today though wish the weather would perk up its fecking freezing.

I was working out today that I only know 3 people of my acquaintance who have had the virus. And no one was properly ill.

Next week I'm taking DD shopping, we've seen friends and family, booking theatre tickets and in going to snap off anyone's arm if I ever get offered a vaccine (43).

We are in such an improved state here in the UK and we are so much better protected than 4 months ago.

OP try to look on the brightside.

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 08/04/2021 18:57

I remain, and have been throughout, so much more scared of people’s reactions than of the virus itself.

sleepwouldbenice · 08/04/2021 19:03

I have never been that personally afraid of the virus, more about the impact its having
But at the moment I am really hacked off with the scaremongering over vaccine impacts and effectiveness and the idiots that are all over all posts saying they will do what they like rather than coming out of lockdown gradually and therefore potentially ruining things for everyone

AllisoninWunderland · 08/04/2021 19:09

I’m past being scared. I’ve bored myself silly feeling scared (not just since the pandemic but from other health related issues in the past few years) so I’ve decided not to be anymore.
Life is full of ‘dangers’ and like many other posters feel that the fear around Covid has been intentionally created to keep us compliant.
To most of us Covid is no more of a danger than most other viruses.
I’m also super excited about restrictions lifting and a fun-filled summer!
I’ve also got a haircut and a massage booked next week so I’m so happy 😂

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 08/04/2021 19:20

Nope, feeling great.

Good vaccine rollout, no variant has been vaccine resistant so far according to studies.

Had my 2st jab which was a piece of piss and cant wait to get back in the office and every not hide in fear over a glorified flu anymore Smile

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 08/04/2021 19:24

Op, sarcasm aside....please follow Mac n Chise on twitter. She is a molecular virologist and gives factual information and studies regarding Coronavirus and variants.

So whenever I see 'mutating variant' in the tabloids and click bait articles, I can roll my eyes and let out a sigh in confidence knowing it's a lot of scare mongering bullshit.

LondonWFuck · 08/04/2021 19:25

Nope. Can't wait to do stuff. Already got several pub dinners/lunches out booked in. Rock on.

N4ish · 08/04/2021 19:29

No, not at all scared. Looking forward to lots of things opening up next week. Have stopped reading any news stories about variants.

wonderstuff · 08/04/2021 19:33

I'm the most relaxed about the pandemic that I've been for a long time. I'm confident about the vaccine, I'm amazed that infection levels are still falling despite schools being open. I think that there being rare side effects to a vaccine is expected, the risks of covid far outweigh the risks of the vaccines, even for young adults.

I'm worried about this government, I'm worried about the economic damage of Brexit and I'm very, very worried about climate change.
