Vaccine - did i get away with it?

LEMtheoriginal · 28/03/2021 21:22

Had AZ vaccine this morning.

Was/am scared of getting sick as i had covid in December and have heard that you are more likely to feel unwell if you have had it.

Has been a mixed bag with friends - some have been really quite unwell, some mild illness but no one has been symptom free. Almost no one been symptom free.

I suffer with anxiety so have worried all week about getting sick or having reaction.

So far i have had a bit of a sore arm that wouldn't have even registered if i hadnt been hyper aware

Is it too soon to think I'll get lucky?

I got a bad headache straight away and felt a bit off by the evening, but it was the next day I felt the worst. But was fine the following afternoon.

Daisydoesnt · 28/03/2021 21:25

I know six people that have had it in the last ten days (including me). None of us have had any symptoms other than a slightly sore arm (and I mean slightly, if you press it). Stop worrying!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 28/03/2021 21:26

Tomorrow will be the test. I felt fine until the night. Not so great i ln the night and the following day. Day after totally fine again

DinosaurDiana · 28/03/2021 21:29

That evening I was staring to feel a bit off, couldn’t quite put my finger on it, didn’t know if I was starting to feel ill or if it was psychological.
I slept well that night.
Next morning it kicked in. Exhausted, shivers up my spine, so I went back to bed and slept.

Lauren83 · 28/03/2021 21:30

I had it 4 weeks after having Covid and was fine, just slight sore arm

marriednotdead · 28/03/2021 21:30

Hoping you'll be one of the lucky ones LEM but the acid test will be how you feel in the morning.
It took 24 hours for my side effects to kick in. I felt wretched for a couple of days, had COVID last March.
Keep paracetamol handy and your fingers crossed!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 28/03/2021 21:33

Yeah, tomorrow will be the test, I think.

We were the only people I know who have had symptoms, mine were dire.

greenlynx · 28/03/2021 21:39

It’s usually at least 12 hours after. One person out of five in my close circle hasn’t got any symptoms, the rest of us had flue like symptoms, two with a bit of temperature.
I personally was very tired, sleepy, headache, no appetite.
Are you alone at the house? Do you have children to look after? Do you need to go to work tomorrow?

EileenGC · 28/03/2021 21:40

I know a few people who had AZ recently. One of them had two months ago. Absolutely no symptoms. Hopefully you’ll be fine OP!

EileenGC · 28/03/2021 21:40

*had Covid

Sally872 · 28/03/2021 21:41

My mother felt like she had a bad cold the next morning. She took two paracetamol and was fine by lunch. She continued to take it easy just in case but no issues.

tootyfruitypickle · 28/03/2021 21:42

Yep I had mine early afternoon and thought I'd got away with it until 9am the next day.... hope you're lucky OP!

tootyfruitypickle · 28/03/2021 21:43

I've not had covid though so not sure that bits true

Daisy829 · 28/03/2021 21:45

I was exactly the same as you. Arm just a bit tender at the injection site but I’ve been really lucky & absolutely fine. So had DH although I think his arm has been a bit worse. We’ve not had covid (as far as we know). Good luck op

Dolciedolly · 28/03/2021 21:48

Had my 4pm weds by Thursday at 4pm I felt like utter shit and still nauseated each morninj

Littlepoppet1 · 28/03/2021 21:49

I had it yesterday tea time. Felt fine all evening but woke up this morning feel nauseous, headache and achey. Took paracetamol and felt loads better. Started feeling off again about 4ish so took some more and I feel fine now, just tired so come up to bed. All in all not too bad and totally manageable to look after my 2 YO all day. My arm is very sore though. Hope you feel okay!

Littlepoppet1 · 28/03/2021 21:51

Forgot to say I possibly had Covid last March but before testing was rolled out so not 100% sure.

NumberThirtySix · 28/03/2021 21:53

Took me 6-8 hours after the jab. Started with headache then had chills and felt bleughhhh for 24 hours.
I'm mid 50s and don't think i've ever had Covid.

DontGetCarriedAway · 28/03/2021 21:55

I had it 8 days ago. Sore arm for about 4 days and no other symptoms at all. I went for a 12 mile hike on day 2.

LEMtheoriginal · 28/03/2021 21:55

Got work tomorrow, im first shift but my line manager said she'll cover my shift if im sick so thats ok.

I could have written your post (and was thinking about doing so earlier!). I had the AZ vaccine at 10am this morning and feeling absolutely fine, aside from worrying if its about to hit me.

I did feel a bit lightheaded for a few minutes at lunchtime but think that was more likely due to lack of sleep last night and not eating this morning. I've had lots of water today and will take a glass to bed - toying with taking a couple of paracetamol before bed too.

Fingers crossed we both sleep well and wake up feeling fine OP.

Pythonesque · 28/03/2021 22:00

My arm gradually got more sore over the first 24-36 hours. I was feeling a bit "off" the day after I had it but nothing worse and improved after that. I've a history of reactions to vaccines in the past, too, so found this really reassuring. (also reassuring as my elderly mother hasn't had it yet, she's overseas and on her own, and she and her GP had been pondering whether one vaccine might or might not be safer than another if they get the choice).

GCAcademic · 28/03/2021 22:02

I felt fine on Thursday when I had it (morning), but shivery, achy and exhausted on Friday evening, and then fine again by yesterday (Saturday) morning. The only lingering thing is a sore arm, which actually seems to be getting worse.

EveningOverRooftops · 28/03/2021 22:04

I was OK at first (had it early AM) then sore arm after a couple of hours, whole body aches by bedtime.

Woke up following day to a killer headache, body aches even worse, had chills/fever and spent the entire day lethargic and dozy.

Woke up the day after ravenously hungry and generally tired. I’m good now but arm was still sore for another day or two.

SplendidSuns1000 · 28/03/2021 22:08

I think you'd have symptoms now if you're going to get any. If you feel genuinely well enough tomorrow it might be good for you to go to work to keep your mind occupied. You could always leave early if you start to feel unwell but if you don't go in at all you'll only worry more. Make sure you're drinking plenty and eating well and rest. Keep your mind busy and distracted too.

I've had both jabs and had no symptoms after (I'm 22), DH only had a very mild headache after the first which passed within a few hours (he's 37).
